PS…on a bike, I’d guess you’d run closetr to the water mark, the sand is more compact and would not lift as much??? Gotta watch for water drains..lol…unless you like endo’s?? ..I have maps of the area, will find distances and post them.

Mate, I’ve only ever done that run in an old Subaru wagon, many year ago now..and not onto the Island. I’ve been alround the Island, nevr stepped foot on it in 15 yr+. I’ve done some sand running around here though, found it pays to wash bike well and spray down with WD40…the god of all things mechanical..LOl.. From Noosa up to Rainbow is a steady run..is Patroled abit and is speed posted. Once around half way up, there is tracks everywhere, just off the beach app. 400 mtrs, it goes red clay.( 400 mtrs straight, is hilly between beach and backtracks). I spent around 2 yrs in the area 4x4ing n the subaru. great place to look around… I have only Just started finding all the tracks again on the bike. Most times riding Solo..so carefully.. My bike is only 1 yr old..still on orig chain/sprocket set. As well as pads.( perhaps i ride to slow??)

Yeah, to go over the top, you could do your sand run from Noosa, hop the ferry over the river then run the beach to Rainbow/Inskip, onto the next ferry and hit Fraser at Hook point..( the Bottom end), then the long run upto the top point. That would be the run for the brissy end of QLD. Take a long weekend because the run upto Rainbow is full of other spots to check out to.

Hi, Curlyman, I own an 07 610, it’s standard gearing was 14-45, I believe your should be same. However, for a better Idea of what the 08’s are about, i can only recomend you peruse the cafehusky.com this site is pretty much the GO for ALL things Husky..Tech and otherwise. It’s a yank site but the info is unbelievable. ps. i run 159kph W.T.O. Unless your gearing is wrong, ???mine is ablast..but in no way a full race bike. very much touring and great on dirt.

I would,nt mind living there ryno,, wonder if they need an sparkies up there…

Hey I dont know if maggie needs any Sparkies but you have Kidston Gold/ greenvale nickle in the same area. They always look for Sparkies. Now If you Like dirt bike riding, as being on this site would suggest, behind Kidston and in that area there is some AWESOME riding. If your gook at a map of the Townsville area, Kidston is behind and up a touch from Charters towers region, almost around the Lynnd. mate that area is a gateway to Gold Mines and all things upper/outback Queensland. Maggie is around 1.5 hrs from Kidston. Good $ too….Sorry…butting in…Just some deadset awesome ground….( I drilled the shit out of it a few years back with a research mob ) B)

Yeah my 1st XR600 was done, only thing is if the bike is a trail bike and has a steering lock fitted you need the fill the slot in the inner tube (triple tree tube, bottom clamp to top clamp) if you don’t the grease will fill the inner tube as well, the grease than takes the easiest route and will come out the bottom of the triple tree all over the tyre and the top all of the top triple tree.

That said, yes I think its a good thing and am planning to do my bike and my suspension linkage soon.

I never had to fit brgs to that XR.

Do XR;s have suspension the one’s I’ve riden and owned had something but not suspension:woohoo:

 When I come up there in Feb and bring my bike and kick you and your Orange shitboxes arse I will have a public apology for all that you have said about the bike that made trail riding what it is today in this country

    So there ! lol 👿 👿

I hate the pricks who charge an arm and a leg for fitting tyres, but are to fkn dopey to grease axles! I hate the same dopey morons who charge an arm and a leg for something to be done on your bike, only to find out they didnt do it right. I really hate fk wits who can hit an insurance company for $3500.00 worth of work, but are too stupid to know that the subframe is out of whack, hence the catching of rear tyre on Exhaust. I hate it when you realise your down to ONE bike shop for getting gear, cause the rest are full of ‘kwits! I hate it how one can go hammering down a hill, only to have to pull top knotch gymnastics, to stop the friken speed camera getting shot of Plate! Old man doing attempted Knack knack in traffic…dont look good! I hate how bikes get blamed for damaging the Forestry, when I goto stand up on pegs to get through HUGE wheel ruts, left by 4×4’s. I hate how the govt. frkd the health system..left me on the bench for so many years now!

Back in 02 some sh@t bag broke into my garage and stole a RM250 and a XR600, they where both chained and in a locked garage, I was asleep above the garage and never heard a thing. When I reported it, to the cops they told me that there had been 22 dirt bikes stolen in the area in the last six months. I had no insurance, It took me nearly a year to save for another bike. I was gutted!!
Where are these bikes ending up? any of you other OB’s had a bike stolen or a close call? Ever got one back? When that guy in the pub asks if you want to buy a cheap dirt smack him in the mouth for all of us.
    Trust no one.

Funnty question that one…If it was an HQ holden that got stolen, straight up you’d know it ws going to th wreckers?! Today With bikes, I dont so much think its the wreckers as much as it is part thieves. Eg..your bikes are being recycled for spares by owners of like Modeled bikes.

Like I said in one of my previous posts “if I win I’ll be your friend” so now everybody is my friend. Even if I hadn’t of won everyone on OBT would of still been my friend.

OBT is a rare forum, you can put your ideas / opinions on and not get hailed down if your ideas differ from everyone elses. There is a strong sense of the brotherhood (and sisterhood) that only dirt bikes offer. That could have a lot to do with the audience that OBT attracts.

I would like to thank Eagle for being a good sport about everyone taking the piss out of his misfortune, everyone who works tirelessly at keeping OBT alive, everyone that posts on OBT, FARKIN Champo, the people from Trailzone adventure magazine, the people from Kawasaki for building a bike that doesn’t like to go through mud and giving all of us the chance to put shit on Eagle (Kawasaki’s are good bikes considering our latest buy),KylieD for putting up with me, Sir David Attenborough, the people who made the lounge that I sit on while looking at OBT, the people from acer for making the computer I look at OBT on, the people from Energy Australia for giving me the electricity for the computer, God, forward thanks to the people at Australia Post for delivering my copies of Trailbike Adventure, the moderators that judged mine and Champo’s caption’s as the winners (Champo said he will fix you up next time he see’s you), all you people that have actually read through this crap I thank you, anyone else who I haven’t thanked Thankyou. I am currently wiping away the tears of victory.

Maybe OBT can run a longest acceptance / thankyou post. I’ve gotta be in the running.

    Thanks again – DanD

oh Man…that took me be the heart.
