I ride with a 661 pressure suit, Minus the Chest protector(Roost plate). I have tried it out now a couple of times and am amazed at how much protection it gives. has some rather nice Scars on the Hard ABS forearm and shoulder gaurds. I can say it handles the impact of cartwheeling over Old logs rather well. It too has the spine protection, Kidney belt and a zip that had a tag on it…that little tag stung me enough to make me reomve it quickly.(strange that)I’ve never ridden with hard armour so i cant compare them.

Wikd beemer, Does not your manual for your BMW say, “Do NOT Add Additives to Fuel system or Oil system?”. Curious as my bike’s manual says it’s a No No.( yes it may be a Husky, bmw own it). On the Question of does the stuff work ? I had an HZ for some tiome, without running the stuff, the valves gave me all kinds of drama. Fitting “Stainless valves” was a One off cost, no more valve saver needed. I’ve been considering usiong Morely’s upper cyl. lube, it does the same job as most valve savers as well as looking after the upper ring..( according to said lable on container), however, i keep remembering the bit in the Manual, then worry it’l clash with some lil Oring or such and give me no end of grief whilst out in the middle of somewhere, far away from home.

Hey ECK’S…Not sure how the phoe is assembled but you could try to pull it apart and wash it with Metho..dry it properly ( hot air/dryer) and reassemble it..just may fire up again…just a thought from a similar experience using a top end theater remote.

Just a cuppla cents worth ….In a recent 4×4 mag, an all out challenge on teh Dual cabs was done, Hilux last spot. mazda’s Bravo cleaned up..this was done in an “as delivered state”. If one is to believe whats written( i fear some take Cash for Comment) the likes of the Hilux and Rodeo are slipping more to road warriors rather than OFF road warriors. Now for a Question from me, of those who OWN Dual cabs, do your bikes actually fit in them or do you have to leave the Tailgate open ? Just Curious as like MudRat, I’m thinkingg of going into the market for something similar..I was frowning onmost cause they look to short to hold a bike, all except eh landrover cerew cab..but it dont look to comfy in there?? No doubt it’d go anywhere though.

I know you said this accident was rider induced Menace and not a function of the PDS. However, you should note that if you do get a kick back from the rar shock wining the high speed compression counterclockwise half a turn or so works wonders :)

So would trading in the bike….but i dont think Menace is ready for that…..yet.

Marine grade grease is designed to operate under water for long periods of time. Any normal grease will be fine seal your airbox. I might try honey next

Want some Selly’s All clear? i hear it bonds in water.. :)

What type of grease do ya use as a matter of interest? I`ve been smearing some extra filter oil on the mating surface of mine, should go the grease though I suppose:blink:
    Cheers

I use a marine grade grease on mine..water doesnt cut past it too quickly like it can with non water proof jobs??

Just to be a bit pedantic Mr Husky, while i agree marine grade grease is sound thinking, isn’t normal bearing grease a non water soluble as well, and a water inhibitor?, just thinking out loud here, cause marine grade is usually just thicker isn’t it(viscosity etc etc)

    BC

Mr.Blue..I’m not to sure on that. I do know that when i was in the mines we had a no. of different greases for many different occasions, however when it came to uses around water we always used a water spec. grease. Alot of trailer beaarings are hit with a basic “axle grease”..Boaties tend to use a marine grade as it is harder for water to “permeate” it. If you get a little of ” normal” grease in the palm of your hand and drop a bit of water on it, mush it around and it’ll go white and break down, try it with a marine/water stable grease, it wont go white and break down. I do know that shell made an Alvania( mineral clays) R3 grease that withstands a fair amount of water pressures before being pulped. however for an Airfilter i think its chasing wind. I use the marine one because it was given to me, also because i know it wont be pushed away by splash..no othe4r reason. :)

cant say I’ve spent much time on it..I have spent a fair amount of time looking around the ADV site, and being a Husky ride cafehusky.com these are both yank sites but i’ve not had any hard times or found too many idiots, rather just helpful people with the same idea i have. “Bike and riding, help others if you can.”
OBT on the other hand is a totally different animal..it has typical Oz humour and parlance, is relaxed..way relaxed with people treating each other how they wish to be treated. every now and then i try to break my dependence on these sites only to find i keep checking in to see whats happening on OBT..the others i can do without…strange..
I guess its because here, people dont reject me being here simply because i know nothing or am not from their little clique.. OBT seems to welcome all. doesnt get any better. ;)
