Xr650r first
Guessing xr600 and 500 to follow
Thanks for that…makes it easy to decide given the UHD suggestion and experience up the Cape.
.
As a reseller of GPS to the trade, I was happy to help out if possible but I just purchased a Garmin 62s from Ryda for $299 retail when my but price on them is $363.
It is ano brainer in the end.
I do have aces to maps though and will be happy to share on the weekend ride coming up.
Kool…… I will do the day licence thing.
dead keen to have a crack as I have not competed off road only on. I have a lazy DRZ400 in the shed I might prep up. A bit of competition is good for the breed and Cape York is on in July so why not injure myself well before.
So do the bikes need to be registered for this?
I harbour a deep desire to do some events this year and this series look like it might be the way to go.
I have a mate also in need of something. I will have the sales guys chase up a price list this week and let you know.
I owned a WR250 2T for four years before I purchased a XRR.
In hindsight I regret letting it go simply because it was oh so reliable. Regular work like linkages, wheel bearings, seals and rings were never more than routine.
The wiring is simple, the frame is tough and many aftermarket parts compatible with the YZ250.
On single trail it was fabulous. On fire trail it was …..a 2 stroke. It did not climb hills as well as a Husqvarna CR250 but you can still buy flywheel weights for them that change the ‘torque’
The biggest weakness was by far the rear shock as it was too close to the YZ and designed to leap over SX triples and allow you to land. On an all-day ride it would compress your spine.
I would own another in a heartbeat especially given the suspension work available these days.
My company sell GPS and I can buy direct.
The issue is that we have no where near the buying power of someone like JB Hi Fi. So at times they have them cheaper than we can buy them direct.
That said, I am happy to get prices if there was enough interest. I am using a GPS 60 which is workman like but by no means clever. The later models have much better visuals for a start.
One of the engineers at work is all over how to be all tricky and access maps and free beer etc.
If there was a common theme, I would try to help.
Three including myself.
I will get them to say hello.
I have three people confirmed.
I note the pubs are booked out so the swag might have to do.
Cheers
It should be set up for a heavier rider but I work on the premise that a competition Baja rider at 100kg that can race at pace will put much more stress on the suspension than the average Joe.
So it was set up for competition and a lighter rider fully geared hitting it hard. It appears to cope with the weight of the fuel and luggage etc and in ST form well beyond me.
I almost purchased an electric leg for it last year but relented. I do like the Rekluse EXP and I think that is likely to be the final mod.
I have gone back to the original (but modded) exhaust with no noticeable loss in performance. It has the HRC cam but not the piston. I also have a rear hub to match the front with a 17 inch rim. I find the 17 better for transport stages and there is a greater selection of dual sport tyres.
There is always something I want to do. Mostly ride the thing. I have never done a group adventure with strangers so look forward to it.
2006 Honda CR 450 R . Valves are RaceTech gold valves, springs are eboch. Rear shock is a CR500/XR650 hybrid with standard spring.
