Hey are any of the organisers online atm?
Thanks, I had a quick look at this but we have been caught occasionally when people say “yeah its s#@t easy ..” and u turn up and its near impossible Erzberg Rodeo stuff
but I have heard that these rides are awesome fun so wanted to come even if we go on the “easy” loops
Hey Guys, me a a couple of mates are thinking of coming down from tweed, just wondered how the ride system works in terms of grading? Grading systems seem to differ a lot depending on who decides. I notice there are three groups and I assume they are different grades: we all ride the RTCB with no issues and would grade that a 3 if that helps.
thx

Yep just did!
Swapped my 2012 350 Kato + 4k for a brand new spanker 350 Berg with all the tricky forks, triple clamps, frame, rims, fans, etc etc …… the day before they announced that Berg will disappear back into Husky!
Oh well at least there will be lots of parts for it via the KTM line of ISDT bikes. The only custom bit is the super light poly subframe.
But thats probably the reason why Bergs are cheap; it seems the 2014 Berg will be the final model before they are re united with Husqvarna from whence they originally came.
There are some very very good deals on the 2013 Bergs if anyone is interested
Not sure what the difference between 2013 and 2014 models is???
Yeah luv em …….. now!
BUT there’s a story; when I first got my Kato 350 I had a problem with the gear change (I am a big guy 6’3″ or so with a size 13 hoofer so Katos not ideal!). To add to that I have a stuffed left ankle from too many crashes/breaks. So I fitted a set of Pivot Pegz to help with gear changes and also with hills. However the Pivots put a lot (no a real LOT) more stress on my wrists e.g. the point where I could only ride hard for about 15 mins at a time. I was going to ditch the Pivots but a mate suggested I try Stegz as well. Took a little while but eventually got the hang of it; some lessons for others
1: adjust the Stegz properly
2: practice locking and unlocking your legs into the Stegz while riding
3: keep practicing until it becomes automatic (took me about 10hrs actual riding)
3: I wouldn’t use then for MX only for enduro/trailPS anyone done any riding up around Nightcap/Mt Jerusalem/Mt Nardi/Whian Whian SF recently???
March 1, 2013 at 7:29 pm in reply to: Kneeguard problems warranty am I expecting too much??? #237478You don’t really have any leverage with the distributor, only the dealer does; he’s the one who can say “hey look after this guy or else” and it doesn’t sound like he is in your corner at the moment:
“they are nearly one year old…”
“this is just wear and tear, …
“they should not have been used for so long when the screws were loose”.
“don’t like your chances”.The only reason you pay the extra at a dealer (web is always cheaper) is cos they have a shopfront which can give you the extra service. So if you aren’t being looked after then don’t buy from them.
Another thing you can do is: warn people both about the product and the dealer which is exactly what you did here but there are a few other big forums like dirtbikeworld etc where you can let people know about your dramas with this product. I got ripped off really bad a while ago but I made sure others in the 4wd community were warned: there are two main forums for 4wds in Aus (patrol4x4 and exploroz) and I put a “watchout for this mob” on both! Certainly got a reaction then! be careful to recite just the facts with no bullsh%t.
I don’t know how much the knee guards cost and whether its worth the effort (stress, time off work to attend hearings etc) or not but the final solution is Consumer Affairs (cttt.nsw.gov.au) it will cost you a $37 fee which you may not get back but you will get your money back from the dealer eventually; takes about 3 months. I assume you have your receipts and warranty etc.
Hi Thought I would mention some items for consideration on your kato:
1: tie up your water thermo housing with zips otherwise it bangs into the radiator
2: Add a set of Stegz and Pivots together; work so well together
3: Fit a SplitStream 10um fuel filter to stop any crap in fuel clogging up injectors/pump
4: if you have access to a AC TIG welder modify your stand; make it a tad shorter; build up the area next to the stop at the top; add a bigger foot;
5: Get some of the really thick sticky plastic that they use for protecting car guards from stones and put it on your side casing to keep them pretty:

xx
Thanks for the welcome Nickj, just trying to convince “she who must be obeyed” that I need to have a weekend break in Coffs
Can you tell me if the trail suitable is for girls; she can ride but gets a bit freaked at big steep rutted hills?
Hi People,
Excuse if butting in but I have Pivot and Stegz on a new KTM350 and have some observations
1: when Pivot first fitted my wrists got tired quicker as they seem to put more emphasis on arms. Sort of makes sense as your body can now move around more on the bike. But you quickly learn to grip with your legs and this helps alleviate tired arms/wrists.
2: Awesome for steep hills: up and down as you can now adjust your body weight while still maintaining full foot contact on the peg (not only on the edge).
3: may need to adjust your brake/changer. When going down steep hills and hanging off the back because your foot is rotated back more. I found I had to lift rear brake one notch. However some have said opposite. Just be aware you may need to change.
4: Biggest change was to gear shifter! I have a big foot (13!!) so most shifters are not ideal anyway but on my KTM I had to raise shifter and shorten it lengthwise and widthwise ( I have a AC TIG so its a pretty easy mod).
5: But add a set of Stegz (both of these are Aussie prods!!!) and the bike becomes even better (if thats possible). The addition of these two and changes to the controls makes the bike an absolute dream to ride. And for a 55 year old to be able to ride for hours and still feel OK is gob smacking. So my 2c is that if you decide to fit Pivot then fit the Stegz as well, its about $400 worth but they go so well together its money well spent.
Anyway that’s my 2c worth.
PS would love to go on the Coffs coast trail ride, is there a separate item for that (as opposed to the adventure ride part)?????
