    Hi and Welcome Noel,

Some of the Admin people have similar problems on this site, usually alcohol induced :side: , as do the rest of us for that matter  .
Anyways, there all good Guys and there is a fair bit of fun on the site, have a good look around, now you’ve signed up you can plumb the depths of depravity in the Old Bulls Forum  , check out the ride reports etc.
Mostly older fellers here like yourself who have gradually lost thier riding mates over the years, you know the storey, marriage & kids, alcohol and drugs – jail, bad knees or the worst excuse of all in my book, too fat and unfit, being fat and unfit makes it all the more fun when you get up the hills the younger blokes struggle with (I tell ’em it’s momentum and they need more beer and pie time!! 👿 ).

    Enjoy

Hey Eagle…. sounds like you did a number on your ankle if its still sore. I suspect Theo will be hobbling for a while on his as he couldn’t put any weight on it by lunchtime. I’ll be going out next Sunday and the next one and the next one etc. With Theo down I may need to find another recruit otherwise out on my pat malone. Meet Ian from ADV Rider who just joined OBT (minusone) and Chris so see if I can hook in with their rides. Hope to catch up with you again as soon as your ankle is back to normal.

    Hi minusone,

Welcome to OBT. The guys here are awesome, helpful and on top of that just good blokes. You will fit in well on any of their Adventure / Trail rides.

Thanks for sharing your words/photo’s. Loved watching you going around corners at speed and seeing that back wheel slip all over the place. Need to get some tips on how to do that… Looking forward to sharing another ride with you soon.

    Kat

Yeah right, I saw you slide/roost between two of those monster bikes on the way out of the car park KatGirl, you ain’t foolin’ anyone! ;)
    See you next time,

Aido I’m impressed, how did you find something so relevent at 11.00pm as that, ‘she rode a flamin moped’!
An awesome bit of work sober, but to pull that off tanked (even with TB’s assistance), you should get an award for that!

I feel it is very important to not stereotype particular groups e.g. Greenies. I would consider myself a bit of a Greeny as I believe a Carbon Tax is a good idea, I believe global warming is real and population control is an issue that needs to debated. We cannot continue to treat the earth the way we are.
I am also a keen motorcycle rider and believe we must find a balance between what we enjoy and our responsibility as global citizens.

    I feel the important point are;
    1. Respect and be tolerant of other people opinions.
    2. Promote our sport in a positive light.
    3. Do not bitch about and make generalisations about individuals or groups that oppose our sport.
    4. Be willing to debate and negotiate.

I’m lookin’ forward to meeting you Fossil, we think along similar lines.

We still need to engage with them Mick, even if they are serial complainers. In the Hunter Mines, we get people moving in next door so they can complain and get paid out!
But the officials know all about these type of people ;) and if you can show that you’ve let ’em know whats going on and done your best to satisfy thier whinges you get less kick-back.
I also agree that there is a bias in all of this, I have 10 steeers on my place and when it’s wet, I’d have to ride my bike for two days to make as much mess as they make going to the dam to get a drink!
Anyways we got to move with the times or loose our sport, doesn’t matter which political party is in (unless by some calamity the Greens get control  ) we have to deal with these people, the government used to do it, they got sick of it and now anyone who wants to do something that requires permission has to do it!
It’s a shiite system but its what we got and we have to work within it or were dead in the water…

There is a certain degree of personal politics in play.

But like you say TB, it is up to us to portray the positives that come out of the event. ie financial benefit to local community etc.

One rediculous thing that happened was that the council insisted that there be silt suppressors on the creeks.
These silt measures involved a sock like thing full of gravel across the creek, then below that bales of hay, with star pickets anchoring them to the creek bed. The night before the event, cattle got tromping around in the creek and ate all the hay!!This alone caused more silt than 100 bikes going through the creek. :S

If the socks and haybales didn’t work Mick, we need to come up with something that does, all other industry and development out there has to deal with this Shiite, I know, that’s what I do for a living, we’ve got to be smarter and a bit more ahead fo the game or we’ll lose the game and there goes our sport!

Actually noise isn’t a concern at Seaview. Because of the lay of the land even when you are in the camp ground you can hardly hear the bikes. And being a 7000 acre property the nearest neighbours are miles away. From what I have worked out, the “Green element” that are opposing this event, are serial nuisances and they actually have a personal vandetta against the owner of Mt Seaview and they are using this as a weapon against him. Weak as piss actually.

We do only have one side of the story but  and it is a side that suits us. Really unless we are the people we normally get it 2nd, 3rd and 34th hand. Not supporting just saying. Maybe we should remove the emotion from it, the personal views and like Lyn says get active on the benefits.

Agree, lets embarrass them by turning out to be nice people who respect the environment just as much as they do!

I read your post on the Bullet Proof protection gear after I ordered and paid for a Force bashplate and Devol radiator guards Lefty, sorry mate thats one sale you won’t get unless I F’up monumentally on the trail :S

Yeh sideburns, I’m afraid I’m a Husky tragic, I’ve pretty much rubbished every other brand now so it’s a bit hard to change

This one has potential though, engine feels strong , it’s no 450 but I was initially worried about hill climbs etc, I’ve only run it around the paddock but as you can see in the picture, I’ve got steep paddocks and even with it not run in it has plenty of sting. No more 5th gear wheelies though (which at my age is definitely a good thing ;) ).

Thanks for the congrats Chris, lookin forward to seeing you all on a ride soon. :woohoo:
