Beside you try riding with a compound fracture in the foot.

And why dont you tell everyone how i had to tell you enough is enough when i wanted me bike back and you wanted to keep riding it. I wont repeat all the glowing comments you made about the DRZ.

LOL, compound fracture??? I reckon Stoney had more drama’s with that scratch on his nose…

    Yeh a compound fracture.

I’m still in surgery at the moment. I’m hooked up to an intravenous drip of concrete.

Well alright its not exactly a fructure but my toes are bruised but it hurts like a compound fracture.

    Sending all these subconscious messages.

    1. Saying you dont want the VTB job really means you do.
    2. Posting on a Victorian ride gathering thread.
    3. Being nice to Menace.
    4. Playing dumb (although i’m not convinced your playing)

    heres a bombshell for ya…

i will be resigning from my highly respected ( ) VTB duties and moderating superpowers on the weekend of the kenda as it will (hopefully) be my last ride in victoria for many moons.

i will be hosting an election, sanctioned by your good self, for my replacement during saturday lunch at the pub. all those attending will be encouraged to vote.

Whats wrong with a good old game of pass the parcel ? or one of my favorites, musical chairs ?

    Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Sorry Jak,

when the piston comes up to TDC the area between the piston dome and the head is called the Squish band. By reducing the band down to approx 1mm this will have the effect of raising the Compression ratio.

To check this squish band we need to get some lead solder wire and place it on the dome of the piston. The head is replaced and the engine is slowly turned over using the kick starter. The piston will compress the solder and this is then measured using a vernier. The engineering shop can then use this to determine how much material is removed from the head.

    Hope this helps

I’m with ya now, thanks ;)

Ok guys I have the Engine apart on the Gasser and I need to do some work on the head. I have been running a .3mm base gasket with good results (standard is a .3+.5+.15 = .95mm total),this has the effect of raising compression and giving a lot better low to mid response, but this is means the piston is about 1mm above the exhaust port at BDC. I need to raise the barrel so the exhaust port is level for optimum efficiency and then do a lead solder squish test. This info would then be passed onto an engineering firm machine and CC the head head I reckon the squish ATM would be close to 2.5mm (at a guess) and need to get this down to about 1mm.My question is who in the Sydney area preferably comes highly recommended to do this type of work and any idea on how much it would cost.

    cheers ;)

I read this thread and had no idea what your talking about so i called me three year old son in to sit on my lap and try and shed some light on it but we both ended up just sitting there with dumb looks on our faces (our/my normal look). Could ya help out this pleb Ollie and put it in lay mans talk. I understand the first bit its just the squish test.
    Cheers.

    NO!

Ah now i understand. :) Thanks for clearing that up :S

I got towed a long time ago by an experienced bush rider. One end of a thin piece of rope was tied to the back of his bike followed a meter later by an old tube and then another length of rope. the rope at my end was put around the triple clamp (not tied) and then up to the grips where it was held onto. Any problems you just let go of the rope. Hope that makes sense.
