King Strucky wrote:Well what a day.
TB was up on Friday night to pre run the next Nav ride, he said it would be good to get yourself use to the bike. What a understatement first 5mins we are in to a creek crossing then in to some really fast flowing tracks that was like riding at Blacktown ice skating rink.
Then come the turning around due to the track not going anywhere, I can tell you it is easier to back a B-Double in to a finger dock then turn this space ship around.
At this point I’m thinking it won’t be long and I will bin this on the ground then that’s out way who cares after you drop it the first time then it not new anymore.
The rest of the trip was the same all day very slippery in a lot of parts, as the downhill to the Amazon creek crossing.
I was at the top and said to TB is there room for me down there for me and said yes to the right of me,
So down I go back brake locks and I’m in gliding mode all I can see is that I’m about to slam in to the back of TB and push him straight in the very deep creek. :pinch:I laid the bike down and my back tyre just touch his how close was that. I then pick up the bike with the help of Tb and done some good old country parking angel style.
Then we push them through the creek which was not easy due to the big stone on the bottom and the ice cold water.
When standing in the creek knee deep and freezing I said to Tb thanks for a easy ride so I can get use to bike.
I can see why there is a lot of pre running done for these rides, we came across so many things yesterday. Deep creek crossing, tracks not there anymore, RTA closing roads , logs down,Gates locked, massive up hills, swamps.
Thanks TB for the day and this will be a great Nav ride guys and girls.
Cheers
King StruckySounds like you had fun Strucky
Wrong turns on a tight track with the tenere are a pain in the @#$% :pinch:
I have lost count how many times I have dropped my bike but they do crash well

I want one!!!
Anybody else?Should have spoken earlier I think I just sold my white 2012 tonight to another old bull ( taking over the world one bike at a time ) my new one will be white.
You want one Eagle you know you do
especially after watching the orange shift box coughing all over the grass track last weekend  you can’t have one now anyway the king said

Hahahaha, checkmate.
Seriously though what is it you hope to achieve with the high guard? Is for looks or function. It would seem others such as TB have done it and found negative affects. As for looks I think the MX guard looks out of place on them.
+1

Excellent, look forward to it

Thanks Nick,I will have to have a look next time I am down there shopping.
Great pictures and report Gav
Thankyou again for leading I had absolute blast on this ride, which is understandable considering the tracks and company :woohoo: :woohoo:
jtb2879 wrote:Thanks James! I assume you used heat as well as the hammer/anvil?Thanks TB… once again the fountain of knowledge for all things 660Z!
Might have to ring Mr Yamaha and see what he wants for a new lever to see if it’s worth messing around with or not.
I could but didn’t jtb, figuring it will burn off the paint. The hammer alone can be pretty persuasive when used over the anvil.
Cant tell from your pictures exactly where the bend is on your pedal but mine was mainly around the foot pad.Which reminds me TB I know when you did my bike I noticed Wolfmans on the King Kenny could do with the anvil treatment.
EAGLE`02 wrote:How about a report of the adventure guys ???It sounded like a great trip from what we heard sat night , Gav has a knack of leading people into the unknown
Interested to hear more of the sat ride too, James said he loved it !!!
Cheers
I am afraid that I did not take many photos Eags, and what I did are boring anyway :pinch:
I know Gavb was trigger happy with the camera most of the day 😆 And boony had a camera on his helmet but whether or not he releases the evidence of himself on a ADVride remains to be seen
As for Tryhard and Mickp I am unaware of them taking any happy snaps
The day was a bit of a blur for me as I just got swept along with the group and have no idea how far or where the hell we went
What I do know is it was an awesome days riding on some primo ADV tracks and trails and one I would do again in a heartbeat :woohoo: :woohoo:
So hopefully the others have something better than me to contribute and can give you a better insight
Cheers James
Flying Fish wrote:Trailraider wrote:Been playing with the new brace / pressure suit this arvo, struggling a little to get it right and all working together with the jersey, camelback etc. :unsure:More playing required.
I think i have it close, skin top, then pressure suit, jersey then brace and camelback.
I will need to get used to the restricted head movement, but its for the best
Hi Trailraider and James,
I have changed the way I wear mine a few times and both work but the latter is a little more comfortable on cold days.
Firstly I would have a shirt (skins top or thermal or just tee shirt), then pressure suit- I would put the front inside the pressure suit and the thorax section on the outside BUT slip in under the back armour, then jacket over the top and camelbak over the top with the chest brace over the front to hold it all down. This worked well but my jacket was a little open at the front and let cold air in.
So I recently tried having the front section on the outside of my adv jacket, this also works really well, I still have the thorax section under my amour. Each to their own and what works will be the best for you.I purchased mine on Torpedo 7 back when they were $400……….still VERY cheap insurance.
At first I found it a little restrictive…..but I figured it was less restrictive than a wheelchair.
My final point for any of the guys who whinge about it being difficult and restrictive to wear……….try learning to wear a bra…………at first it is tight, uncomfortable and restrictive. BUT ultimate it is for the best and after a while you forget you are wearing it!! 😆 😆
Flying Fish
Sorry Amy have only just noticed this, your right it does take a little bit of playing around with different combinations and such and on the weekend I wore a backpack as well for the first time which at first I thought would be a hassle, but not long into the day and all was good and comfortable so I will keep wearing the brace.
A little unsure of what the warmer weather will do to my opinion of the whole setup I guess it means just buying body armour and a jersey.Cheers James
Fantastic weekend glad I was able to get away and be part of it.Great to meet some new people and catch up with some I already know. :woohoo:
Congratulations to King Strucky on his crowning, have not known you for long but can see why your subjects wanted you as there King. Look forward to seeing you on that Royal Blue Tenere in August.
Chris and TB you must be both well pleased seeing such a sucessful weekend take place.Well done on the website may there be many more Birthdays to come.
Bollocks funny as, and sure it wouldn’t work as well if you weren’t the auctioneer
Sponsors and donators provided a great range of much sought after products, cant wait to test that new pipe. 👿
The army of behind the scenes organisers and helpers thankyou, the weekend seemed to go off without a hitch.
The ADV ride itself was a hoot with great tracks and company making it an awesome ride to remember. :woohoo: Gav the ride you mapped out was brilliant and thanks a lot for making the effort.
Mickp, Tryhard and Boony great to meet you and I am sure, even you Boony, would agree it was a fantastic day on the bikes.
Will catch you guys in August for another weekend of ADVenture.
Cheers James
