Good morning Mick,
How’s the wheather up there, looks like a great day for a roadtrip to Wauchope.Clear sunny sky down hear in Sydney, looking forward to the weekend, can’t believe it’s finally upon us.Cheers James
Just follow the line Lefty, easier said than done for some :pinch:
And just to avoid confusion I am talking about the last time I teamed up with the Farrier not the Lithgow ride
Seems that there is one common denominator though :pinch:
Cheers James

Don’t encourage him TB, 😆 I had planned to save my tyres and bring my trailer and an esky full of beer these weekends are more than just the bike riding for some
Off topic did you have any thoughts on wheelsets that would be suitable and easily interchangeable for the Tenere
James
How big is the trailer Ollie, cause if its just a bike trailer it may fit on the back of my truck
And depending on which direction it may not be far from me as I would only be 15 or so minutes from you
Let me know if I can help.

oldgirl wrote:James I crashed at low speed few months ago and got some nasty concussion. Was knocked out for about 10min and was ‘out of it’ for a good few weeks.I DID NOT retire or scrap the helmet  :pinch: as it showed no signs of being damaged apart from the tinest spot on the inside foam where it apears to have been compressed from my hair clip (not a problem for blokes I know).
I went riding with said helmet today…..had a bit of a backwards sliding stack and basically tripped back and hit my head in the same spot on a rock. There is very little damage to the outside of the helmet BUT…….It didn’t even feel like the helmet was there when I hit my head and it bloody hurt. If I had of had a decent stack it wouldn’t of protected my head one bit.
Its a tough choice to can a helmet and I really really don’t want too. But if it is hard enough to concuss you it has to go because I speak from experience that the next stack will hurt EVEN more
That’s no good oldgirl , nothing pleasant about concussion and its side effects
Looks like a new helmet then for you to :pinch:
Besides we need to protect all our brain cells so we can damage them after the ride bench racing
James
Riding with people that are better than me is just the way it is and probably always will be Mr Squiggle
I will put my hand up in regarding to riding at my limit also Nick afterall that’s what keeps it interesting, and has had me laughing at myself on several occasions thinking I’m the biz only to be swamped in dust and rocks by others as they fly by :pinch: 😆
Know what you both mean in regard to fitment and comfort, the Shoei road helmet I have feels like putting your head into a pillow by comparison to my now sacked helmet.
James
Trick
I think everyone seems to be of the same opinion deep down, and that is to ditch a damaged helmet , I mean how can you really tell from what may appear to be only superficial markings.
Like Ace has said it just appears to be a little scuffed but I will retire it, it has served me well and is getting a little long in the tooth anyway and will make do with the roady.
On this subject of safety gear though, it does seem to me to that if prices were at a more affordable level more of us would gladly purchase it and replace it when damaged equating to more units sold and safer riding for everyone, shame costs have to be a consideration over safety
Nato I do have photos of it but cant for the life of me work out my photobucket, does just look a little scuffed though
James
Valid points on the topic Nick and Pete in regard to higher speeds and harder surfaces, I think you have convinced me
I do already have a Shoei xr 1100 lid which is half a dozen rides old that I bought when I first bought the bike not knowing about the Adv helmets :pinch:
I shall re commission it and get some use out of it till I can afford something more appropriate .
Cheers James
Bit of a mixed bag of responses and I can relate to both sides of the argument. :pinch:
I have checked over the helmet and cannot find anything to suggest that its structural integrity has been badly damaged in any way but I am no expert.
Might be a good excuse to get that new adventure helmet
If only money grew on trees, thanks for your thoughts
James
That’s a very generous and inviting offer there Gordo
,would love too be able to do something like that and include the wife and kids
Unfortunately though its a little far away from me at short notice and I ride a tenere so maybe not suited to what you had planned :pinch:
Kids would really have enjoyed it :woohoo:
Once again good on you for the offer
Cheers James
