Sadly no, actually a lot of my footage may give you a sore neck, the camera was pointing too low on some and I find myself constantly ducking my head a bit tryin g to see under the top of the screen
What can I say that hasn’t already been said, for me it was 2 days of incredible riding on some of the best singles I have ever ridden.
I arrived with the missus on Friday evening to find STM shuttling back and forth from the Van park to the Pub making sure everyone got there ok. I decided to keep it quiet and stay in with Giselle the first night expecting a big day on Saturday and was not disappointed. WE hit the road around 8.30 and didn’t return until after 6 that night.
The ride started with a quick blast along a fire trail but it wasn’t long before we hit the first of the singles. The pace was steady without being cracking which suited me nicely, things started out brilliantly,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, or so we thought. At the first regroup about 20 or 30 minutes into the ride it was noticed that we were a man short, RCHonda was AWOL. Nick and Boulder headed around the fire trail back to our start point to see if he was there but while they were off Strucky had him on the phone. Turned out a roo had come tearing out of the bush and bowled him into the scrub on the way through sending him some 20 meters off into the bush. At that point he was near the end of the cue and was temporarily stuck under his bike. He tried throwing a stick at the last couple of riders to get their attention but had no luck. None of the rest of us had much of an idea where we were so we waited for Nick to return so he could talk to the downed rider and work out where he was, after a couple of unsuccessful reccies Nick and I eventually stumbled upon him. Nick went back to get the others while I helped him push the bike to the top of the hill then walked back to get my bike while he rolled down the hill to the next intersection. By the time I got there his wife was already there to pick him up. While we had been riding around looking for him he had called her and she had driven out then walked 2km to where he was, so I guess that means he was lost for a bit longer than we realised. I headed off to his ute to get a tow rope and when I got back the rest of the crew had turned up. Someone (sorry but can’t remember who for sure but it may have been dean) had fitted RC with a sling. I towed RC’s bike back to the ute with Aaron in the saddle, it was a bit unnerving really especially when we came across slippery sections as I was worried I might pull the front of the bike out from under him and end up skull dragging the bike on its side. For his part though Aaron reckoned it was some of the best riding he has ever done.
With RC sorted and some time lost Nick had to cut short some of the morning loop and make it up a bit on the fly which I think had him a bit nervous but he did a great job. There was some really tight section, fast flowing tight sections, bog holes, creek crossings grassy paddocks, log crossings up hills, down hills and everything in between with everyone having the time of their lives. Before long it was lunch time so we headed off to the Able Inn where they have a great daily $10 lunch special as well as their regular menu. I didn’t hear any complaints so I think everyone enjoyed their feed. After lunch the 2 groups swapped leader and route and so we followed STM back into the forests of Coffs for some more magnificent trails. Some of which we had done in the morning but this time in the opposite direction. Eventually we came across the Widow Maker and after watching Aaron tear up it and looking from a distance I thought it didn’t look too bad so I decided I would have one go. As soon as I hit the bottom I realised it was much steeper and rougher than I first thought and I didn’t even make half way before I was in trouble. What took me about 6 seconds to get up took maybe 6 minutes to get downand by the time I got the bike turned around I was starting to cramp up in the forearms and so decided that discretion was the better part of valor and left it at that. Aaron decided that making it up once could be considered a fluke so had another go and again made it to the top. Then someone else had an unsuccessful attempt then Bollocks had a go and did better than me, well done Bol, but didn’t make it. STM had a go but didn’t make it, then Aaron did it again. STM then had a second go and made it look incredibly easy and all this with the peanut gallery sitting down the bottom cheering and jeering everyones attempts.
Eventually we headed down to the beach to meet up with th others then STM nicked home and grabbed his home brew and a heap of nibblies for everyone. The home brew was probably the smoothest I have ever tasted too. From there it was just down the road a bit and onto the beach where I think everyone had bit of fun. It must have been a site to see 30 odd bikes heading down the beach together. Everyone was having fun but also slowed down whenever we came across other beach users which thankfully there were not a lot of but all too soon we were off the beach and heading for the showers.
After scrubbing up and having a feed with the missus I headed down to the camp kitchen and was already aching all over from the days events. The bench racing was good and everyone had a ball, Bollock did his usually top notch auctioneering, Phil did his Valentino Rossi Impersonations, TB won the wheel changing competition and we even manged to raise a few dollars for a very good cause.Sunday morning dawned bright though a bit too bright for some I think
, STM looked like his eyes were about to fall out of his head. Today riding was to be the highlights of the previous 2 days and we were not disappointed. We stared off on the previous mornings trail but soon found ourselves on a new trail I think (now I am terrible at remembering trails but I do tend to remember obstacles that give me a bit of concern and I definitely didn’t see these the day before), maybe this was some of what we had cut out the day before due to RC’s coming together with the roo. Anyway there were a few people in front of me having some trouble with a set of logs not much more than a bike length apart, I have some footage of it with a few bike (read riders) in a bit of bother. (My silence can be bought people, pm me
). To my surprise I made it quite comfortably and before long we were all on the go again. At one point I was having a little trouble on a single and I could here a bike right behind me constantly revving and giving me the hurry up. I guesed it was TB and at the first sign of mud I gave a quick twist of the throttle which had the desired effect. A short time later some of te group had to get back to pack up before the long drive home but I was lucky enough to be able to continue riding as I wasn’t leaving until the next day. Again it was just the best of the best or another hour or so before STM needed to get home so back to the vans we went.
All up a fantastic weekend of riding with great people and money raised for charity to boot, what more could a man ask for (or woman, sorry Shell).
Again thanks to STM, NickJ and even STM’s dad Len for helping out, oh and a special thanks to Mrs STM for letting him out to play.
Cheers all.
A quick video.

Just back this afternoon, bike cleaned, lawn mown and now to go through all the video and pic’s. As has been said by all, STMdid an awesome job organising everything with great assistance from NickJ. Great trail, great blokes, great weekend, as otsa said “spoiled” now we are. Will come up woth a report through the week.
Utes all loaded, just gotta get that annoying thing called work out of the way. Hoping to be there by 7 tonight at the latest. :woohoo: bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Water only boils at 100°C, at that temp it wouldn’t cause any distortion of the metal but I wouldn’t know about any possible plastics.
Good to here your almost back to full strength Murph, see you at Coffs

Happy Birthday Gents
There is a hill out near Buladelah that Huskybloke took us down one time that rates too, like I said we went down it and it was probably the steepest hill I have ever ridden down and is littered with tall steep erosion mounds. I had the bike off but in gear and feet out using the clutch and brakes levers to control my decent and still managed to fall. Tore the watch off my wrist (steel band) and I didn’t even notice, one of the other blokes spotted it and brought it down with him.
