I thought the bash plate was going to incorporate a water tank.

10 weeks, jeez you blokes are keen, sounds like you will be ready to go next week, I haven’t even settled on a bike yet, let alone which tyres or luggage carrying options. Best I get my finger out.

I am looking at a bike again tomorrow, am thinking this will be the last one I have to look at for a while if the pictures of it are accurate.

What is it I here you ask, loose lips sink ships, Ssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

What bike are you taking Scott?

in reply to: Bike jumper cables. #184902

I tried to get one fitted to mine but Chris Watson, which is who I bought the bike off refused point blank to fit one. He said they were a waste of money as without power fro the battery it wouldn’t work anyway. Personally I think that is a crock of shite, I have flattened the battery on the trails before and was able to clutch start it so why wouldn’t I be able to kick start it. I kind of lost interest in the idea after a while, I’m sure if I got stuck in a gully with a flat battery I would revive the plan though.

The jumper cables look the poo though Scotty, I would have killed for a set last weekend riding up at Pokolbin at one stage.

I have the Garmin 60CSx which I have been very happy with until it recently started turning itself off all the time. I am told that if I run it off a 12v outlet instead of Batteries the problem will be solved but am yet to try it.
When it was working I found it quite easy to use.

    I’ll be Swagging it.

Yeh mate, sorted the new boss and I am good to go. Just got to decide whether to take the DRZ or get something else. If we are riding through the sand along the Dingo Fence for any great distance, then The DRZ would be easier to handle than something bigger.

Keep in mind also Nick that TB has done a fair bit of the balck top as well, and I doubt too much of it would have been done in a subtle fashion :D, not to mention having to drag my fat A#$e around as well on one trip :D

The D606 is a knobby tyre unless I am confusing my tyres. I am pretty sure this came up before when Boony was thinking it was a road oriented tyre.
    See image here
    Whoops, that didn’t work

I had one on the TA which is a far heavier bike and had around 1200kms when I sold it and it was only 50% worn at worst. I have also run them on the DRZ and can’t be sure, but I think I got over 3000km out of it. I have no doubt it would last the distance for the cameron corner ride. Dunlop_D606a.jpg

I will have to get down to that ride one day, maybe next year.

Just remebered that the speedo cable on my old TT600 went on the outside. There was a built in guide on the fork protector that the cable went through on the outside of the fork then came into the connection point.

Sorry, my mistake. I just went and checked and they are both on the inside.

I think they are meant to be on the outside so they don’t get pinched or squashed between any foreign object that may get in there and the spinning wheel. Not sure about the brake line but the speedo cable has always been on the outsiden on mine.
