It’s still here Ian, not sure what I am doing with it yet. The Transalp is going and I may make the DRZ my adventure bike or I may sell it as well and get something else. I’m in no rush to decide though.

Not sure if this one will work but it’s how my day started badly.

Nope, will have to try something else.

So the ride started poorly for me while I got used to the new bike. The bike hadn’t been ridden for a while and the battery was a bit flat. No worries I thought, by the time I have done the first lap she will be all charged up I thought. Problem was I didn’t get more than 2 minutes into the ride when I stalled it on the first hill   . Hit the button, she fired up, released the clutch, stalled it again   idiot rider. Hit the button again, no go  :( . Tried to kick and the kick start is on the left (Why Husaberg, Why), couldn’t get it going so Pepe kindly helped turn it around so I could clutch it down the hill (thanks Pep ;) ).

Down the hill I go, pop the clutch and she fires straight up :) here we go. Turn her around, stall it again  F@#k, S#%t, F#$k. Kick, kick, kick and kick some more    (pear shaped I think I said before). Micknmeld pulls up and gives me a hand to get it going (thanks Mick ;) ) and I stall it again (emoticons can’t do justice to how I was feeling by now). Got it going again and head off up the hill, get to about the same point as the first time and something spears me off the side of the track and straight into a big stump, down I go again and the bike stops again Motherf#%^er. Turn it around, back down the hill to clutch start it, get to the bottom and she hasn’t fired, oh look, some idiot has the kill switch on.

At this point I am seriously considering pushing it back to the car and going home, one last effort and I get it going, get up the hill and by now I have zero confidence in either the bike or myself and am knackered. Eventually I get back to the start point after taking the easy option  and TB says how do you like the new bike? I hate it I said and headed off for another lap.

Second lap things got better (I had taken my earplugs out to better hear the motor as it is very quiet and that helped). Started to get a bit of a feel for it but was still pretty nervous on the hills and riding the clutch probably more than waqs required. Took the hard option this time around and actually thought the hill climb in that was easier then the one before. Got back, hows the new bike they ask, getting better I say ands head for lap number 3.

Lap number 3 I was feeling mor confident on the hills as I had a better feel for when gear changes were required but my fingers were starting to lock up so I took the easy option again  . Really started to get a feel for what the bike was doing in that lap and realise that the suspension was set pretty hard and giving me a good shaking.

Stopped for lunch and a much needed rest for me and backed off the clicker on the rear shock as that was the one that seemed the worst. Headed off to the car to refuel and give it a bit of a run with the new setting and it definately felt better but now the front was the most jarring but good enough for today I thought.

After lunch we headed off on a siting lap and already I could feel the difference in the way it handled, bikes getting better all the time :cheer: . So we complete the siting lap then onto the lap proper, by the first 500meters I was starting to feel good about how I was getting used to the new bike and new with a bit more tweeking of the suspension the bike and I would get on well.

No major incidents for in the last 2 laps, I was actually thinking about throwing in an extra one if time permitted. I was hooking along when I came up behind Jarred who must have had a moment because he ahd passed me half a lap earlier. Thought I would see how I went and tried to stay with him to the end and was going pretty well when half way up asteep rocky hill I passed Glen21?, with his bike on it’s side and he was just sitting in the grass exhausted. Jarred and I stopped and while he was picking up the bike for him Krusty came lumbering up the hill but had to stop as the track was blocked. He went down and had just got going after being stuck on the side of a hill earlier so was exhausted as well. I went to give him a hand and he said “That;s it, I’m done, I aint riding no more.” I helped him pick the bike up and turn it around and we both tried to kick start it XR, no button :( , and we both failed so back down the hill to clutch start it and I walked back up the hill to my bike by which time I was exhausted. Sucked on the camelback, all gone  so I rested for 5 minutes or so then headed back up after Krusty had gone through and finished off the lap with only one minor get off at low (almost stopped) speed went the front end washed out on a tight loose turn. Back to the finish, grab the last card then head to the cars and pack up.

With the Old Bull shirts and the Kinchrome Bumbags I would guess that maybe Chris is behind it, but don’t know for sure.
