All the ones TB has mentioned are more like 20 to 30 minutes from the airport which is about as close as you will get. Anything in Newcastle near the beach or foreshore is almost as close as any other in Raymond Terrace or Heatherbrae and will give you mor to do outside as far as eating or entertainment goes.

I have decided to go on the B route with the TA for this ride, nice wide comfy seat too good to pass up on the long trip. Bring it on, :woohoo:

One evening a man was at home watching TV and eating peanuts. He’d toss them in the air, and then catch them in his mouth In the middle of catching one, his wife asked him a question – and as he turned to answer her, a peanut fell in his ear. He tried and tried to dig it out but succeeded in only pushing it in deeper. He called his wife for assistance, and after hours of trying they became worried and decided to go to the hospital. As they were ready to go out the door, their daughter came home with her date. After being informed of the problem, their daughter’s date said he could get the peanut out. The young man told the father to sit down, then proceeded to shove two fingers up the father’s nose and told him to blow hard. When the father blew, the peanut flew out of his ear. The mother and daughter jumped and yelled for joy. The young man insisted that it was nothing. Once he was gone, the mother turned to the father and said, ‘That’s so wonderful! Isn’t he smart? What do you think he’s going to be when he grows older?’ . . . . . . . . . The father replied, ‘From the smell of his fingers, our son-in-law.’

G’day XRT, Yeah it’s not bad for balance, like I said, it’s only in the really rough stuff or the bigger washouts and unavoidable holes that you notice it that much. Mine is a 600 but they make 650 and 750’s as well. I was originally looking at a Tenere (not a new one) or an NX but everyone seemed to have an NX and I was too impatient to wait for a Tenere. This came up and I sort of bought on a wim which is how I got back into bikes in the first place.

Welcome Biker62, we have a number of central coast members and plenty of Wattagans roders so you have come to the right place.

Great report Jeffro. Sounds like your getting good use of the TA. Pity I can’t see piccys at work.

    Did you get different tyres?

Yeh, kinda getting used to it, problem is I want to ride it like the DR and hit all the erosion mounds to get a bit of air but I don’t know that it would be a good idea. You really feel the extra weight on the rougher stuff and there’s alot more weight to try and catch if I get out of shape but really enjoying it. I put one of the Pirelli Scorpions I got off Sutto’s on the front, the knobs are a bit too flexy on the road with all that weight but I am getting used to that too, the back is only 17″ so I couldn’t use the rear I had. I got a Dunlop D606 or 605, can’t remember which, whichever is the harder compound of the 2, it has good size knobs rather than smaller ones. I thought that would be better for the heavier load.

Yesterday when I was out riding the front brake was really spongey, so much that I couldn’t brake with 2 fingers because the leaver would hit the other fingers still on the throttle before the brake started working, yet this morning on the way to work it felt firm again. Any thoughts on what’s going on there? I was thinking maybe the brake line has gone soft or something and the colder weather this morning meant it wasn’t stretching as much, or do I just need to bleed it?

p.s. I re-added the route map to the original post.

I am going for a my first decent run on the TA this weekend and will make a decision then. I went for a half hour run on Friday just near home on some single trail and it went quite well so at this stage I am leaning towards the B route but will decide for sure after this ride.
