Great read Jim, thanks for sharing.

You will only get better for the experience of pushing your limits throughout the ride.

    Cheers Mate

Well I got soaked on the way down. It rain within a minute of leaving home and didn’t stop until just before wilberforce. It then started again around mulgoa and flogged down at times until just before mittagong. I think the summer mesh jacket and shorts were a bad choice. I have been colder before though.

Bags are packed and route loaded into the GPS. Cooranbong, Wattagans, St Albans, Wilberforce, Mulgoa, The Oaks, Buxton, Hill Top, Colo Vale and Mittagong.

Go Pro and iPod on charge, ready to head out around 9.00am tomorrow for a leisurely trip down.

What time are you going to be there TB?

Hi Jeffro, how many MB’s of SD card and Go Pro batteries would you take on a normal 2 dayer? I am thinking of taking the young fellas with me.

Depends on how much you use it, I tend to just use it in short bursts on the more interesting parts. I hav a 4 Mb card and recharge the battery overnight.

Even regular insurance can be like that. When I was shopping around for insurance for the WR I was quoted over $900 by insure my ride and got it for a third of that from Swann Insurance.

I am not sure, You mentioned a 5.7 in the other thread and I was asked for my weight when I got there. The part number on the box is 20-085-64

Yeh Nick, fitted it thursday night. i couldn’t get the ride and static heights right though, i set the ride at about 105 and that only gave about 5mm static. I took it for a good run on Saturday and was very happy with it though. It soaked up all the big hits beautifully, as I hit the first decent size step I braced for the usual jarring as the back wheel hit but it never came. I didn’t get caught on one obstacle all day, except for going over the bars when I grabbed too much front brake on big step down 200m from the cars at the end of the ride.
I will have another go at setting the heights again when I get a chance, it occurs to me that I didn’t back the clickers off when I did it before

I will be out there at Easter again this year and bringing the bike for a play in some of that :)

I will be heading down in the morning and meeting up with the missus. Probably head through the Wattagans and Yengo to Putty or maybe through St Albans, wisemans and out to Wilberforce.

The weather may have a bearing on the route. Will call into the pub long enough to get the GPS loaded and make a plan with D-Rally then head back to the hotel for the night.

Have to work out which tyres to run too, the intermediates or the full knobbyies.

in reply to: Drying the boots! #236295

    Some options;

Pack them with some newspaper to help absorb the moisture.

If you have an old stylr lead light with a light globe rather than an LED type you can put it in the boots and turn it on, the heat from the globe will help dry them.

Borrow the wifes hairdryer or blow some com[pressed air into them.

I usually just leve mine to dry naturally, some time I give the insides a rinse out with the hose to flush out muddy or stinky water that I may have been through.

We may have to set up a members support line to help ease the pain of withdrawal during these difficult times :D :D :P
