    Merry Christmas guys and gals, I hope Santa has been kind to you all!

    in reply to: What was your 3 best rides of 2012? #234377

    I didn’t get out on too many rides this year but probably;

    Coffs harbour or Nundle, I can’t really split the 2

    The 2 day Nav ride was good for most of it until poor old Cob’s bike broke down,

    ,,,,,,,,and then any other rides I did without hurting myself or the bike breaking down. Bulls would have been up there had it not been cut short by electrical gremlins.

    Played around setting the suspension sag and ride heights today,the recommended settings are;
    Rear Static Sag recommendation (thanks to Tekniks website) 30mm ± 10mm, The bike was 43mm
    Front Static Sag recommendation 30mm ± 10mm, the bike was 33mm so within spec

    Rear Rider height recommendation is 100mm ± 3mm, the bike was 142mm

    Front Ride height recommendation is 50mm ± 10mm, the bike is 50mm :woohoo:

    The best I could do with the rear was 23mm static (within range but not ideal) and 121mm ride height which is 21mm too much.

    So obviously the rear spring doesn’t suit my weight and needs upgrading, problem is I also need to lose some weight for health reasons so I have the dilemma. Do I get the work done, then if I actually lose the 20+ kg that I need to, do it again or just wait (pun intended) and see if I manage to lose the weight?

    Ahh decisions decisions.

    Also picked up a genuine yamaha bash plate cheap just because the packaging was damaged. They didn’t have any blue barkbusters though so I will have to wait until the new year for them.

    Yeh mate, they work fine now. Makes me realise how little riding I did in 2012.

    Try magnesium tablets Wolfie, they help relax the muscles.

    I started taking them a couple of months ago to help with twitching muscles and found I slep better.

    Last week I was away from home for 4 nights, I didn’t have the tablets with me and was having trouble sleeping, I would wake up after a couple of hours and have trouble getting back to sleep just sort of drifting in and out for the rest of the night.
    It didn’t occur to me at the time that it was because I didn’t have them and when I got home I had the same problem the first night because I hadn’t taken one that day either. The next night I remembered before I went to bed and slept straight through even though I had taken a nap for over an hour in the afternoon.

    I have been using Nutralife Magnesium Complete.

    Good to hear everything else is going well.

    They both come up as private.

    I Picked the bike up this morning from Sydney and brought it home. Generally it is in good nick with very little boot scuff marks but a few scratches on the only barkbuster and front guard from a spill.

    As mentioned earlier it isn’t registered at the moment so I was only able to take it for a quick spin on some private property nearby. I would have to say that it has a bit more poke then th ’03 model, whether that’s due to wear and tear or engine improvements between models I am not sure, most likely a bit of both.

    The suspension will need some adjusting, it barely sits high enough for the side stand to be used but generally feels quite stiff over smaller bumps, (I haven’t had a chance to try it over bigger bumps yet) and will most likely get the treatment from Tekniks.

    The bike hadn’t been washed when I picked it up and it had a fair bit of manure spattered on it under the guards and generally was a bit dusty. That combined with the trailwing type kenda tyre I am thinking it may have been a farm bike.

    I will replace the wheel bearings, maybe the steering head ones, new chain (sprockets bearly look marked) and give it a service. I will also fit new barkbusters, replace the plastic bashplate with something from B&B or Whipps and set the ergo’s to suit me so that by the time it is registered it will be ready to rip (just wish I could rip with it :blush: )

    Also will have to get my hands on a manual for it.

    Yeh probably Wayne. It’s not registered at the moment though. Only needs a front blinker but I may have trouble finding somewhere to get a blue slip at this time of year
