I would look at the suspension first James, the damper is not that critical for the type of riding yoy do most of. The dampers best benefit is in soft sand, rocky sections and ruts which by the sound of it you don’t do much of and the suspension upgrade will improve handling in those situations as well.
Tekniks are the guru’s here.
Not sure if this is the right place but there isn’t a random ride vieo section.
I put together a video sort of inspired by PTW’s idea of a video comp, It is a bit from a few different rides and bikes I have had over the past few years.
As Nick has said, it depends on what riding you want to do.
You can spend some money on the Ten and improve it’s handling but it will never be a single track weapon (and obviously was never meant to be).
Conversely, the 690 is better at the tighter stuff but you can spend some money on things like a more comfortable seat, a screen and bigger tanks for long haul stuff. The biggest downfall of the 690 is the subframe or lack there of which has been known to cause dramas when heavily loaded.
If you only do day trips and the odd overnighter then maybe the 690 is the way to go (and as I type this I am starting to convince myself to change from the Tenere to the 690
).
Another option could be the DR650 as well (just to confuse you a bit more)
In the end it is all a matter of personal preference but the is no bike that is perfect for all applications (that’s why I have 2).

Nice work, that hill looks tough.
I will have to get out there one day, I work up that way.

Nato wrote:Well i am a bit late but thanks again to the boys for all the planning for this ride it is certainly a hit for many. Starting with friday, I had an awesome time friday with plenty of mid pack madness was to be had as it was all weekendWe did a run through my new favourite trail called sidewinder and i had a sweet flowy run through there and as scott would have notice i was smiling like a split watermelon. It never suprises me that everytime i ride there scott has a new trail i have never seen and is equally as good as the others.
Saturday i kitted up and forgot my spare camera battery so i got little footage  But im sure i saw more than enough cams to cover what i missedAnyway we had a great start to saturday making great time for an early lunch until scott lead us to “nolines” Which saw more than its fair share of sweat mainly from menace hahaha Anyways we cruised over to the widowmaker and a fair share of the group gave it hell and those who didn’t quite make it certainly gave it a red hot go, I dont think mick had his diff locks in so it was a little tricky for him but a great try none the less. The single after the widowmaker was a ripper with every obsticle in the book another fav of mine. Not too long after there we rolled into trapeze which seemed to have a heap more vine then i remember  I think nicks crew stitched us up and threw a few up there
Thanks again to everyone who came and it was good to meet a few new people and catch up with some familiar faces, Certainly going to catch up with Mikes crew at the sunny coast asap!!
Well here is the clip i got,Make sure you put the quality bar up as it seems to come up in the lowest.
Nice camera work and editing there Nato, you boys certainly hooked along some of those trails quicker than we did. I see that log almost caught Spdu out on the Saturday too, it was looking like a carbon copy of what he did on Sunday.

singletrackmind wrote:Great footage and clean edits Jeffro. You were riding solid all weekend, especially when I saw you a few times on Sunday.STM
Thanks Scott,
I have had a tendency in the past to ride at or near my limit too often on group rides trying to keep up with the faster riders and wear myself out too quickly. This weekend I just went with the flow for the most part with just the occasional burst of speed.

Here is Trapeze. It wasn’t that hard really, it was just very humid which sapped the energy out of you.
Sunday ride
I forgot to take my gopro with me so only had the camera out at 2 spots. I went to zoom out when LC was coming up the hill but hit the stop button istead so his is cut short.
Saturday morning

It took you 11 minutes to get through Trapeze? Man you need to get yourself an XR650.
Actually Mick that was only through to the downed tree we had to clear. I can almost guarantee that it was much clearer to get through by the time you got there.
