Not for highway use wrote:How did the WR go?
Great Andrew, I was really happy with it. I softened the suspension in the front to take the jarring out of the smaller bumps and it went everywhere I pointed it. Swapped with another bloke with us pon his DRZ and certainly noticed the difference in the next single, I came out huffing and puffing and couldn’t wait to get back on the WR.
I think the starter motor problem has been sorted now too as it didn’t give me any grief like it had the week before so all rounf I am very happy with the swap.I had great ride on Saturday. I was going to go on my own but luckily Tim turned up and I was able to follow him so I didn’t get lost. It was some of the best riding I have been on for a long time.
Thanks to Tim and the others that came along
These days it is generally just a blood test to start with to check your PSA levels, if they are a bit high the camera comes out (or more to the point goes in :S ).
I had mine blood test just recently which revealed a few other problems but nothing a change of diet and some excercise wont fix.
As for the heart burn, I have been on tablets for them for about 4 years now and had the camera down the throat twice. Last time I went in the nurse asked me to take the underpants off, I had to tell her she needed her compass adjusted
Very pleased to hear a positive outcome for you Mick

That’s a bit disappointing, I was keen for a run on one. Oh well, next time.

Hope lil Murph is ok…ouch
Thats one scary sounding new bike you have Jeffro
You should give Eagle a go of it this weekend
Bol :woohoo:Hopefully it is sorted now Bol, wont know until the weekend though I guess. I am sure the bike has been crash tested before too so no need for Eagle to have a go
G’day Steve, welcome to the site.
Yeh, like everyone else, this site has been the catalyst for many a good ride and laugh. Well done to all those past and present who have made it work over the years.
That’s not unlike a certain swamp of death we rode through at a previous birthday ride.
Was is it LC that filled someone in or did he get filled in?
That’s a shame Teza, get well soon and as was suggested, come out and say hello if your able.
Almost forgot, I got home and cleaned up the bike then proceded to pull the starter out, what a job that was. First thing was the whole exhaust system had to be removed, then I had partially disassemble the sub frame to get the muffler off and next the oil lines had to come out. Pulled it apart and doused it with degreaser (didn’t have any electrical cleaner) and blew it out with compressed air.
I spoke to a mate who reckoned grafite would be better to use a lubricant so I whacked in some of that a re-assembled the starter. Bolted it back in and hit the button, nothing, only a click. Pulled it out and found that the shaft was locked up, loosened the housing bolts and it came free so tightened them back up and it was locked again. Decided that the grafite was the cause where it had gotten under the end of the shaft so pulled it all apart again, cleaned out the grafite and greased it up. Put it back together and the same deal, shaft was locked. Grabbed the shaft with the vice grips and gave it a turn and it came free so put it all back together and it seems to be working ok again, time will tell though I guess. It was a good shake down ride, particularly since I hadn’t done anything more than a grade 2 to 3 ride for probably 18 months due to the shoulder injury and I was really feeling it by the time I bailed out. It was my first time riding at Ourimbah and there was a great mix of terrain with steep rocky sections with some big step ups, tight singles, free flowing singles and of course the fire trails tht link them together (some of which were pretty narly as well).
I had problems on some rocky steps at a couple of places where I got stuck or stalled the bike which normally wouldn’t be a problem except that the starter motor wasn’t very happy and did more squealing than starting as Adam said. That made me a little nervous every time there was anything remotely difficult worrying about stalling again. By the time midday rolled around I was starting to struggle physically and having trouble peeling my fingers off the bars, (maybe riding without a steering damper for the first time in a while added to that).
Thank Adam for organising and leading and to Murph and Dude for Sweeping. Also good to meet some new old bulls in Marcus and Lil Murph, get well soon mate.
Not many photos from me either, too busy holding on and keeping up.
