Sound like the go if they grip in that slimy red stuff up there!!! Might give some a try.
Only thing that worries me was the last Dunlop front tyre I had tore most of the knobs off in about 800km. Let us know how they go in the rocks LC4skin.

That sounds like the go LC4skin. Good suspension and is the air filter easy to get at to service etc?

Thanks NATO,I have a cr250 in the shed already so I can confirm your theory about two strokes increasing our status levels!
Any input from berg owners? The crf did crank hard in the open going trailboss! Then it did it’s crank in lol.

Look at the bike not the hour meter. its how its maintained thats important.
I would take zero notice of an hour meter or a speedo on a motorbike if I was buying second hand. They tell you nothing.

Yeah awesome for bike riding in the arvos for those that have time. Not so cool for 5 year olds getting on the bus at 7.30 in the morning (6.30 in real time) to go to school.
Its here to stay so enjoy it if you can. Tolerate it if it makes your life harder.

in reply to: Cush Drive inner tube modification XT660Z Tenere #211266

Cush drives……. they should be put back into history books. The first bike I owned was a CT 125 Honda. it had cush drive on the rear sprocket. They too lasted about 6 months. They are a throw back to the days when the Japs converted road bikes to trail bikes.
I can’t believe they have made a comeback and they are actually considered a “good” feature. Same goes for poxy rubber mounted handle bars while I am on a roll.
Seat straps will make a comeback next, followed by helmet locks and fully enclosed chain guards lol.

played with the suspension clickers this arvo. Its got a great back end. Just cruises over logs and rocks. The forks are still a bit harsh.
Brakes are a bit weak but could just need new pads and fluid.
Doesn’t have the snap off the bottom the 450 has. You need to fan the clutch to pop the front wheel over stuff that the 450 just lifts over, but it just hammers in the mid to top end.
I reckon if the forks and brakes can be sorted that my 96 model bike will still be a competitive bike. 2k vrs 12k. Have bikes really improved in 15 years?

Yeah I am not too sure on riding it in pony express either lol.

I think its time to start removing a few hands from thieves.

in reply to: 130 tire on a 2.50 rear rim #210511

Not all tyres are measured the same either. Some are measured across the width of the knobs, and some are measured across the width of the carcass.

in reply to: 130 tire on a 2.50 rear rim #210507

I wouldn’t use another dunlop tyre even on my wheel barrow. The last front Dunlop on my CRF ripped all the side knobs off in about 3 rides leaving it with only one knob in the middle in some spots. Complete crap. The rears are no better. Bridgestone seem to last OK but the old cheap special Metzler MC5 is the tyre of choice for me. Cheap, last as long as anything else and hook up OK. I just rode the Yellow Mountain race and two Pony Express’ on the MC5. Its pretty much stuffed now, but I rode for 10km to get back to the pits with it flat and banged a new tube in it and raced all day with a inch long split through the sidewall. I rate them.

in reply to: Off topic; diesel fuel #210383

Agree with Buzz. Heating oil stops waxing in winter. I have been caught with summer diesel in my overhead farm fuel tanks in winter, it won’t run out of the tank on the coldest days till about lunch time. My mate worked for Mobil in the early 90’s. When winter came around they blended heating oil with the diesel at the depot.
I wouldn’t use bio diesel in a modern diesel engine. Diesel motors and fuel injection systems are very expensive to repair.
