I think it would be safer to stay with what sells in the current economic climate..

they are presently reducing the sulfur in diesel we is a lubricate so that could give diesel manufacturers a head ache soon,

That would only be a problem for the older diesel engines.. The newer engines can only run on the new lower sulphur grade diesel..
Hence that’s why we now have a raft of flash euro diesels coming into Australia..

Gas engines also run very clean…. Change the oil in a gas engine after 10,000kms and it’s a big difference from a petrol car..

you should be able to use a 10ohm resistor in parallel connection to stop it flashing quickly for an LED light configuration.
I’ve had a couple of cans and couldn’t be bothered reading the whole thread to find out if this is what you are asking help with

I use turps to get rid of the airfilter oil then I spray it with degreaser to get the residue of the turps out and then clean it in warm dishwashing liquid to get the dirt out. Then let them dry overnight. This works well and really isn’t as hard or slow as it sounds. I always do all my filters at once and only oil the one I’m about to use.. If you have oil dripping in the airfilter box you have way too much oil on it !

JRD, what about your twin-carb XL250? That was a weapon – at least it was until it lunched itself and stuck a valve through the piston! Even had combined headlight/taillight so you could ride at night if one went out (well OK, JRD’s headlight failed and he rode about 15km using the light from his taillight and braille?)!

Yes it was very reliable. I spent nothing on it and rode it for years

As for the tail light story, people would think I’m lying if I told it. But it’s true..

Here’s a short version… I rode over to my mates place (ECKS-man) to go shooting that night.. I was running late and they left for an early loop and would come back to get me later.. My trusty XL250R was running on high beam because low beam had blown a while back. I didn’t want to miss out on the action so I headed off into the back reaches of the property… Needless to say whilst I was out there the high beam side of the globe blew :S, and I still hadn’t located the shooting group… So I decide to head back following the known sheep trails(Yes I knew all the sheep trails). As I got back to the house I waited and when they turned up we went out for the night and I told my little adventure.. After the nights shoot we came inside for the normal hot Chocolate.. I was offered a bed or another bike to ride. But I was feeling confident I could ride home with just looking backwards, again:blink: .. I made home with no problems.. I must make note that the XL250R’s tail light was quite large and although didn’t shine any further forward than the back wheel, it was bright.. The end
I also used to ride a 125 motocross bike home in pitch black as well… No lights :side:

    And there’s half the problem…
Then again I suppose if you design a product that doesn’t fail. You wouldn’t have a long career and there would be no mechanic to fix it..

The surf board would just break anyway, even if it was a dummy planted.. It was shonky as soon as the board was hit. You couldn’t launch an object that large quickly into the air with leverage.

JRD is mates with the owner of the Picton shop so that helps (thats right isnt it Jason, I read that at DBW I think)

Actually I had never met Steve (The part owner) before I looked at Gasser’s and once I had purchased my bike I found out his wife used to date my older brother:blink: .. He comes from the country, the town of Forbes. So I guess we have a similar background and found him very easy to talk too.. He always takes as much time out as he can manage to accommodate my needs as a customer.. I suppose we have over the last 2 years developed a good relationship that would be called friends..
