Quote:Best way to stop pinch flats on them is to run a mousse tube mate honest have tried all the rims and tubes.
Its a big fast heavy motor bike that hits shit real hard and the stuff stays hit. They trash rims real fast
I love my XRTB
I don’t really want to get caried away with mouse tubes for adv riding.
I was talking to the yanks on a site a fair while ago.
The old Baja racers were saying that they don’t run mouse tubes,
including the Honda teams.
What they do run is DID rims as they have a different profile.
They found that DID give less pinch flats.
If i can dare say that
At the time i did not think much about it.
Not so long ago i changed the front rim to an excel.
First ride out i get my first ever pinch flat.
I do run 18lb in the front and 14lb in the rear with a D908.
And softer wall tires i run 16lb in the rear.I put the pig on a set of scales,
the weight is exactally 50/50 front to rear.
130.6kg it weighs with no fuel and with oil.KTM’s new weapon 690 weighs 140KG and 55hp at the rear wheel.
It just shows how far in front of the pack the 650R was in its day and still is,
at 130kg and 62hp.
Thats why i won’t sell it, what else is out there at the moment?
Nothing that i can see that lasts, is light, that makes the type of power the pig makes.GB

TB
I talked to Nick at TEKNIK about the HRC kit and a few other things.
The head work he does on the bikes he preps is alot different to what was done with mine. The air box mod? side cover cut out or the plate inside the air box?
I have done the side cover cut out.GB
My hello was a bit brief, so sorry about that.
There seems to be a few XR tragics on here for sure.
The 650r i have now is the first XR i have ever had,
the things were just too slow back in the day lol.
But these 6fiddys honk.
Haven’t bikes changed alot over the years?
They go handle and stop now.I picked the 650r because its is not expert at anything,
but we can do just about anything.
Single track to desert.
Idle along all day with my kid or flat out all day.
It just has a beautiful motor this bike,
man i been out west doing 150kph all day for near 600km’s.
Park her up and next day first kick and do it all over again
day after day.
There is one thing with this bike it can take some big hits,
the harder ya ride it the better it gets.
She’s had a few things done to it
and at the moment it is in bits,
just have to find the time to put it back together.
But work just gets in the way of doing just that.I rode a bit of MX as a kid and speedway and flat track.
Did a few enduro’s and pony expresses.
Gave away bikes when i left townsville to work,
mainly to pay the house off as quick as i could.I am working at that tunnel there building under the river
in Brisbane at the moment.
There commisioning it at the momment,
so there is alot of hours to be had there.
Mid feb is when most guys will be punted.
But feb next year there will be alot of construction
happening around aussie.
So i don’t know what i want to do at this stage.
Some overseas opportunities are appearing,

So if anyone has a map reader and ico for sale let me know.Well thats enough waffle from me.
Cheers

The 650r does not overheat,
just change the radiator cap to one from a KX80.
And change the thermostat to a 99 model suzuki swift (thats a car) -
