Who is the us Kat, is there a group?
TB
No… but I’m recruiting…. I need a mechanic, a cook, and tent putter upper and downer, a navigator, a drinking partner, and fire builder (someone who gets wood and lights it), someone who is in-touch with their feminine side when I need to talk about my emotions…. frig… I need a huge team…… and its not in that order…… mmmmm maybe ….. lol
Kat
Hey Mallee, Great to see your have turned to the dark side…. and gone the Adventure approach. The whole freedom of riding for longer, camping, and drinking around a fire with mates and exploring …. and still be in one piece is a plus…
Hope to see you out there….. Come do APC Rally 2012 with us…

September 18, 2011 at 10:14 am in reply to: Yarramalong to the Wattos, Millfield & back (sort of) #209084So after huge adventure ride on Saturday and only 4 hrs sleep (self inflicted) I’m ready to hit more dirt today with Theo and Eagle up at the Watagan’s.
Theo turned up at my place after negotiating the roadblocks thanks to the Marathon. So up to Ourimbah up Red Hill, Yarramalong and got to the meeting point about 15mins late (sorry Eagle)… we pushed as hard as we could. So after waiting for a while and did a run to the tar but the Eagle had flown the coup.
So we decided to head off down to the Basin and up the other side. Came back out and rode to the Laguna turn off… The Eagle was nesting at the corner. So after quick hello we tried to head to Millfield.. but as Eagle shared…. We got a locked gate.
So off the Millfield by road and a ‘healthy lunch’ thanks to the owners of the café… I think they see me as the food Nazi… poor Theo’s roast meal was voided of potatoes.
So after lunch we fang it up Hayes Rd. I was hot on the heels of Eagle and noticed he missed the first left hand corner and thought I would put my new skills from yesterday in practice and took him on the inside. I raced up to the next corner and just got around when car was coming in the other direction in the middle of the road. I was able to scrap around her without hitting the ditch but it wasn’t till I looked in my mirror that I saw Eagle flying off the road.
The pictures paint the scene:
The skid marks… (left one is back brake, right one is front brakes)
Eagle showed how he looked
The damage:
Theo patching it with Metal Liquid stuff:
Test ride:
So between Theo, Eagle and a stranger who stopped to help….we got Eagle going. I found that me sitting on the back of Eagles bike helped kick start the bike… poor Theo had to push us both….. Theo – just think of the exercise you got!!!
So after Eagle left we decided to give it a go getting back to Watagan’s Creek Rd via Crumps, Lynches Fire Trail….. we got a bit lost but it was worth it as the firetrails where spectacular So it was 3.30pm and we couldn’t find our way… my eyelids where hanging low so we decided to double back to Millfield…
Photo’s of a track that doesn’t seem to be well used..
We hit the Wollombi Pub for a quick ‘special’ drink and nibble on some trail mix.
We left the pub at 4.30 and tarred it home. Thanks to the ipod and the fast pace we made it back to corner of Mona Vale Rd and Pacific Highway (Gordon) by 6pm to part ways…. I think we flew home.
Had enough energy to wash bike, then me, chew some food and crawl into bed.
Another epic weekend of riding.
Thanks Theo and Eagle for sharing the day with me.

Then we will post the start time from Letter A for tomorrow,,,Stay Tuned
Oh it was a good training day…. does drinking two rum/cokes on the ride count as training??
Anyway it was epic day riding with 8 other adventure riders.
So tomorrow ride will start at 9.30 on the corner of Yarramalong turn off and main dirt road to the Pines… can’t remember the name. Theo and I will be leaving from Artarmon at 7.30am heading to Parmdale, Red Hill, Yarramalong. So shouldn’t be any later than that….
See you there Eagle.
Kat
Happy Birthday white rocket… hope the jet fuel works tonight!!
Kat
Happy 40th Birthday Nickj… it only gets better from here…have a great day…
Kat
Thanks Guy’s…. the training commences this weekend. Got a ride on Saturday with some ORE riders and Sunday heading out with some regulars that I drag around the Watagan’s.
Got allot of preparation to do which includes learning how to do bike maintenance. Seems similar to my CRF230 so shouldn’t be too hard. Setting up the bike (with help from Steve at AdventureMoto) Next is time on the bike fully loaded up and doing some camping and cooking time – if anyone has seen me put up a tent and cooking camp food …. its entertaining to say the least. Navigation will be interesting… being a girl and all!!!.. anyway will keep this thread updated with my preparations….
Kat
Hey TB… thanks for making me laugh……… so have you counted how many brownie points you got after doing all that… ………. I know you had to earn a few but I think the brownie bank is full again. :woohoo:

Love Wyangla Dam and fished the Gragine comp last weekend, the dam looks great.
Have a great trip Katgirl.
MalleeMallee – you don’t need a boat when you pack a little fishing line (not sure if I’m going to get time to do a spot of fishing!!). You need more toys…. buy a Adventure Bike……… its more social plus you don’t hurt yourself as much!!

TenereTravelers wrote:Hi Kat,I would have loved to do this one seeing as the briefing point in Dural is literally 2-3 mins from my place. Unfortunately we are heading off to the Hunter for a Meatloaf concert on the Saturday (yep, I know it is an acquired taste) 😆
Enjoy if you do decide to go!
Cheers, TT

KFPanda wrote:Hi KatGirlNice to meet another person crazy about riding in our awesome country side!
You have been touched by the Watagan’s Curse mate, in that you had a few off’s.There was a heap of riders at the Laguna shop which had come out of the Watagan’s as well Sunday. This is a good place to have a break and a few drinks after a ride as long as the locals don’t get over run its OK. They have fuel there as well and don’t seem to mind you once they get used to there.
Catch Yu!!
Hi KFPanda… yes I’m crazy… yes I’m cursed…. but its not contained to the Watagan’s… happens anywhere/everywhere… its the curse of only riding motorbikes for two years. Will try Laguna shop as a stop next time…
