Trailboss wrote:Nick and I are carrying a rear tyre to Normaton to fit figuring that the two days hard off road running (1572kms) to Normaton will fairly eat up a rear tyre. We may carry it further to Musgrave or Bramwell stations depending. If we get any wet weather then we have fresher rubber to wrestle the big bitches in the mud with
TB
So are you starting out with a fresh rear as well?
Trailboss wrote:Chain and sprockets good for another 5,000, and should be fine isn’t an answer up there at Cape York :blink:You have history with chain and sprocket failures mid ride, a smaller ride I may add  :pinch:
TB
I left them off the list to see how long it would take you to remind me
They will be done

Well the countdown is on to the Cape and as it’s been pissing down here all day so I thought I’d work on my DR 6fiddy’s bike prep.
I’ve been wrongly  accused of being unprepared in the past so I would welcome your imput.
What has been serviced or replaced so far:
New wheel bearings front and rear
New Cushdrive bearing
Oil and filter change
Air filter
New Brake pads front and rear
New throttle cables
Clutch cable
Valves adjusted, carby cleaned and bearings checked. Thanks Rod at Mud n TarI still have to get new tyres and an Ultra heavy duty tube for the front. What tyres would you guys recommend???
What else do you reckon needs looking at ?The bike has only done 10,000 klms and is pretty good nick?

Thanks to all that came alone, I had a top day.
Despite the wet weather, the trails were in surprisingly good nick. Some of the hills climbs actually seemed easier wet than they do dry. We even managed to stike a little dust at the top of Bago or Comboyne. I actually never know where I am out there
It was a big effort from Fordy to travel up from Foster way to ride in the conditions, see you next time
It was also great to catch up with riderX and Dickie. I can’t say the same about Toes though. He filled my in at the first decent puddle we came to.
Thanks again Mick for organising the ride and the shed antics.
AND thanks to King Boll for giving us the day off.

Many happy returns Boulder. Hope you have a cracker
