I reported this non functioning feature last year as well… I save everything and the last email sent from the PM system was on May 29th 2012.. The PM was for the 2012 OBT Birthday ride…

100% serious… I know sad but true…….Short and sweet is no time to ride over the next 18 months…..There are other reasons but none I’m willing to share publicly…

I’d be willing to give a good deal to any Old Bull…………………..

Looking flash there mate… Always thought they were a dam good looking bike especially all kitted up.. Mean machine!!!

Curious why you would not just have Nick rework the stock suspension instead of transferring over from the old? Wouldn’t there be a concern the performance may be different?

    Cheers…

Apple are the ones preaching uniformity across all their devices, not me. I’m only moaning that they’re full of shit! I get the whole processor thing but how does not making books available to be sold across more Apple platforms help them make more money?

For apps that generate revenue, surely it’s best to have them accessed from every possible area to increase revenue. I can’t think of one reason (other than software compatibility which is BS) why not having it on all devices is a good idea.

As far as I can tell most just use their competitors products to purchase and read books on these devices instead. I won’t be buying a MacBook Air as a result, some money making strategy!

Uniformity across their iOS devices… It will come.. They brought Facetime, iMessages, Reminders etc to the Macs… If look hard enough you can find apps to remove the iBooks DRM and read them on the kindle desktop app.. ;) You have more selection from Amazon as well.. they have an app for all devices not sure why you even bother with iBooks.. I personally dislike it.

Yeah sorry mate I misunderstood your response then  I would be happy if I could do it on the Mac as it was my plan so the Mac would be my Old Bull / mapping / movie puter you know. I loaded the software there first. I thought with the growing Mac usage there would have been a demand I mean everybody seems to have one now. I wish they could do something on ipads as I love my mini and could travel with the thing would be handy.
    How is the Dakota going?
    TB

    Cheers…

Depending on how much power your Mac has I could help you setup an embedded Virtual Machine to run the mapping software on your Mac. It would be easy to use and you’re pretty switched on so it would take minutes to show you the ropes like we did in the early days of Basecamp.. ;)

I’ve only used the Dakota a few times but does the job.. I miss the cx60.. Even though the screens are the exact same size the Dakota seems a bit more challenging to read on the go… Touch screen is a bonus…It eats batteries faster than a fat chick with a bag of chocolates…

I would have thought Garmin would have released something basic for the iDevices by now as they are pretty persistent in developing their software for the various OS flavors out there. I too have a mini and think it is the perfect size..

The Apple is the best of the bunch and is good for video editing and the cool factor. If you have other Apple products the integration between devices is also simple and easy to manage.

There are things I don’t like about the Mac though, mostly just niggly things having spent all my life on PC’s. On the whole though they are a good thing.

I have an Apple iPhone for my personal phone, iPhone for a work phone, iPad2, iMac, Apple TV and my girlfriends iPhone, plus I’m thinking about an iPad Mini.

I have 2 Dell laptops for work computers as well though and have just gotten rid of the dreaded Blackberry so I’m fairly impartial.

If you want to read the iBooks that you have purchased from Apple on your iMac, Macbook Pro or Macbook Air forget about it, for some reason they dont allow this???? This is an example of Apple’s (crappy) quirks. I’m only thinking about the ipad Mini because I can’t read books on a Macbook Air. I dont want to carry 2 phones, 2 laptops and an iPad everywhere I travel.

PS – Yes I know I can use Amazon or Kindle to read books on the Mac’s, point is I shouldn’t have to, I want all my files, music, books, videos in one place across all my devices.

Setting up a mac is as easy as a PC.

It appears you got shonky working in base camp?

With shonky you must manually copy the bin file to the SD card. It should be in a specific folder name. When I get home tonight I can type out the instructions. I can also load the file up on my Dropbox account if you don’t have the right SD card file as I believe it is different to the one that goes on the computer for base camp. Been awhile but I just done it with my Dakota and have recently rebuilt my basecamp setup with the new iMac. Easy peasy.

It won’t matter as I have just sent him the latest Garmin Topo v5 for his GPS ;) When you get you Mac sorted Krusty let me know and I will bring me laptop over and show you detail and top line mapping software that I have been given its a unavailable program at this stage. I was given it because of all the navigation stuff I am doing, its mind blowing. I have it on my Mac but again it doesn’t have the detail, the suppliers tell me the demand isn’t there from Mac users so it isn’t as updated

    TB

cheers mate… I don’t have a need for anything more than Basecamp.. the response from said supplier is typical.. Mac is too hard no demand blah blah blah.. they are just lazy and do not want to commit resources that cost them money.. I wish people would just tell the truth instead of some bullshit for fear of offending.. sorry rant over…

    cheers…

Ok be that as it may Krusty it doesn’t make for a better mouse trap when mapping does it  :pinch:

If they say they don’t do the software because there isn’t the demand and you say that’s not true then why is it then? If there is the demand like I read your saying? Wouldn’t they stand to make a quid?

    TB

Never said there was a demand.. I said “the response from said supplier is typical” then ranted..

Mate right or wrong it matters not as you’re happy with the whiz bang mapping software.

    Cheers…

Thanks alot Krusty, appreciate that! As TB said, I will have Garmin Topo soon, but would still love to know what the hell I was doing wrong ;)

    Cheers!

you weren’t doing anything wrong.. Shonkey is an unsupported Garmin GPS map so it has to be installed onto GPS units manually not with Garmin map install…

Let me know if you want the manual process..

    Cheers…

    Ditto on what STM said…

recently acquired the latest 27 inch model.. B) Wanted Power so maxed out less memory. After market additional 16 cheaper option.

    3.4GHz Quad-core i7 16GB RAM 1TB Fusion Drive NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB GDDR5
Apple Magic Mouse + Magic Trackpad Apple Wireless Keyboard

In heaven compared to the 2007 model I used… B) Going to add another another 16GB RAM.. Slowly working the Magic Trackpad in.. useful for delicate manoeuvring while editing video or pics. Not liking the wireless keyboard. making it work because no wires wins. Love the 27 inch real-estate no need for 2 monitors now.. :P Map editing for GPS and google earth is very nice full screen as well… ;)

    First album bought Kiss Destroyer
First Concert 1976 at Chicago Stadium. Sat in the Bird Cage where the announcers sat for Chicago Bulls Games. Of course it was Kiss right before the release of Kiss Alive 2 and an obsession with Kiss Alive.

    Kiss_alive_album_cover.jpg

I also had an an obsession with Led Zeppelin, Rush and pre Dark Side of the moon Pink Floyd. Nothing like dropping a tab of LSD and listening to Echos or One of These Days.

    I feel old.

I’d be in for April…. Depending on where the ride takes place I may be able to put a few up in a cabin near Sussex.. Heading down this weekend with Bro-Inlaw in the 4×4 to check out fire damage…

    Cheers…
