Hi Bundyroy.. I was not taking the piss at all.. I asked for a number of reasons… First and foremost is why? Does not make sense to me and all the answers so far and fixes are not acceptable as far as I’m concerned.. I was really hoping to get some sort of real answer or at least close to one..
KTM rolls the product out the door with pretty much everything you need ready to go.. Heaps and heaps of people use them and pay very good money for them.. Pro riders and weekend warriors alike..
I’ve toyed with the idea once my skill level reaches a certain level.. The new enduro 350’s coming are very attractive.. Power near the 400 plus super light.. I’ve spent one weekend every month since January down in the Wandandian/Sussex area and my skill level keeps rising and quickly for what is on offer down their.. I’m actually starting to enjoy single track and seeking out gnarly hill climbs but if a KTM I pay 14k for is going to over heat why bother eh…
So why is it these high tech machines are over heating in the first place? could it be they are not designed for tight gnarly single track? Just curious as it seems odd to me that a 14,000+ machine would overheat.. Is the manufacturer really designing for a race type situation like a4d, safari etc?
Cheers…

At this point in time yes…
Recently put braided brake lines on me DRZ400 and it took forever to bleed.. After finally getting it done and chatting with TB he suggested next time to fill the brake reservoir about 1/2 way.. Get a fat long syringe and fill it with brake fluid, then a small hose(1/4′ works well) which one end will go on the end of the syringe and the other end over the bleed nipple which is in the open position… Then pump the fluid backwards though the lines, caliper etc until fluid bubbles into the reservoir.. It may cause spillage and a bit of a mess at the reservoir.. However all air will not only be gone but all fluid in place… Ceanup with brake cleaner..
for what its worth…

micknmeld wrote:Well as it turns out the NX is still playing up a bit so they have dropped into a truck workshop contact of TB’s and are at the moment fabricating a new airfilter for the NX. (for those that dont know the NX’s have a paper filter and yesterday’s fog did it no favours.) Tb said that they rode right through the guts of Canberra past Gov House and that the corner man system works better in the bush than the city.So why would you stay with paper?

NX 650 (1988-2001)
Looks like they hit the bitumen?
I was thinking the same actually… I don’t think the previous owner changed the jetting when they changed the pipe.. I may remove the carby and see what sizes are in there and go from there..
Cheers…
thanks fellas…
Just about 3.. Maybe even slightly more… I reckon it still has the stock jets in it.. The extended things has numbers on it..
Ok Bog fixed…
Was fuel mixture screw setting.. Was set at 1.5 turns out..
I replaced it with an after market extended screw this avo and set it and woohoo no bog… I’ll give it a good test this weekend…
Cheers…

Trailboss wrote:If the same jets were used when it was stripped and cleaned and put back together and it didnt do it before your on the right track it needs to be adjusted richer as that is was the choke does. When we did the project Dr400 we fitted an adjustable mixture screw which means you need to pull the bottom of the bowl of and drill a hole to fit the adjustable jet. Worth its weight in gold
The jet then sticks out the bottom of the bowl recess and can be adjusted with your fingers as anytime with ease
Krusty: Where might I get one of these? Are they easy to fit?
Was the clip put back on the needle in the same spot? That said it sounds like the mixture as the same pilot jet would have been refitted
Krusty: I’m not sure and that was another worry.. I asked that question and was told yes but who knows eh..

Cheers….
