Support OBT + Support OBT sponsors = Support for You
I agree with everything stated from all sides of the fence… times are changing, models are changing, retailers are doing it Tuff..
If anything we need to support each other..

Yes Krusty, Consumers and retailers, normally you are either one or the other. The above statement was not exactly meant an “us and them” scenario.
Cheers… Understood..

Quote:Krusty nearly everytime I work on your bike you bring up the story and bitch about getting ripped with the WR  Remember :laugh:Yes that was a YAMAHA dealer in blacktown.. I learned the hard way  … I even told that story somewhere on this forum.. Back then there was no local mechanic now there is 3.. I also know heaps more now than I did then…
Phil and Tisco I think have confirmed.. Wholesalers is part or most of the problem from the price perspective..
True free trade imo would allow anyone to freely import, pay tax and duties and on-sell.. Protectionism does more harm than good…

Quote:One final thing Krusty, after you buy O/S and maybe save some bucks here and there what happens when you bike needs a valve adjustment, its a bucket and shim you cant do yourself and you go to a bike shop. You dont have a relationship with that shop or any because you buy O/S do you expect they should look after you?
TBI would go to a bike mechanic one who repairs bikes and not sells them.. 2 or 3 in my area… I know them well and have had a few things done by them in the past…

Quote:Owning a bike shop as compared to an ebay shop which can and are run from someone’s house are two different thingsYes of course.. The technological era has changes all that and Brick and Mortar must change with the times as well… Suttos is a great example of someone willing to change with the times and the Global Economic situation which is now in play.. Most bike shops have limited stock and a lot of times they have to order it in as well…
Quote:E bay won’t be in there in Broken Hill when the rain clouds are coming and Krusty needs a pair of pants  its then back to the bike shop, the industry we take from but don’t give back to.Of course not but then needing it NOW compared to I can wait is a different story all together… If I remember correctly if I wanted you to change my flat on the ride it would have cost me 6 Bundy Cans instead of my own labor.. 6 Cans I was willing to pay if I had to just like I was willing to pay for the pants if I had to.. Look at what Jeffro had to pay for a chain and sprockets on the road.. Needing it NOW always comes at a higher price no matter what..
Quote:but remember the numbers I mentioned before we just aren’t a big enough population to go dollar for dollar.I don’t fully agree with this.. Wholesalers hold the retailers to ransom.. In the last week there have a few articles touching on this subject… One quote “It is estimated that Australian consumers will spend in excess of $12 billion dollars online this year and almost half of that will be spent offshore,” 1/2? 6 Billion dollars.. Seems we are willing to spend it but not willing to be ripped of.. We are GLOBAL change with the times or get left behind…
Scare mongering about loss of jobs and businesses won’t help either because someone else will just pick up the ball and build a better mouse trap.. Always have and always will…

Quote:The perception that things on Ebay are cheap is quite often off the mark too.
On Ebay a clutch cable (after market) for a KX65 was $35.00 + delivery.
Mudntar supplied me the same article (genuine part) for $27.00Agree with Ebay perception… There are tons of items on ebay for way more than a brick and mortar shop..
