I disagree as Ebay is now a huge factor in deciding where people buy from…. What specific factors are you limiting this conversation to? The title says “Buying Gear from OS, right thing to do?” Both my examples are Buying gear from overseas… the discussion the other day on Boots had the TCX Pro 2 $280 delivered best price mentioned from here was $350 I think..

How about another example of buying overseas…

SM Pro Rims, Talon Hubs(uses DRZ wheel bearings and the speedo can be used) and Bull dog spokes

    $840 + $120 shipping $960 Delivered.

I have mixed feelings on this topic… I have been living here for 10 years now and have watched the retailers over charge over and over.. However, I strongly believe though it is not the retailers but the wholesalers that are the problem.. I understand that the retailers MUST buy from the wholesalers (correct me if wrong Tisco) and cannot import the products themselves which would cut out the middle man and bring the prices down..

The other issue I have is most retailers will not adjust their prices based on the value of the dollar… Most everyone is quick to put the prices up when the AU dollar goes down but do not do the opposite when the AU dollar goes up.. Look at petrol, a perfect example of the looting that goes on..

Variation on the selection of products to choose from is another problem I see.. In some cases we are stuck with what the wholesalers decide to bring in and other makers of similar type products are locked out of the market..

We are and have been a GLOBAL economy for some time now and with the Technological age upon us competition is now Global.. If changes are to be made they need to be made at the wholesale level in my not so humble opinion….

A few examples for some items I have been looking to buy…

Two Brothers M7 slip on exhaust (aluminum)

replace it mate… Had a hairline crack in front rim on the DRZ.. As TB stated, I had it welded and ground back but that area is now thinner and the crack is re-appearing.. I’m now looking for a new front rim…
