Add me on the list… 1996 XR400
I know its no longer April but have you completed this buy and how much to get in on it?
Hey Nick.. I can’t help but I’m very interested in the responses you get for this one.. I have thought about one of these for awhile now.. What did you pay?
cool info Jeffro.. When I spoke to Suttos, Daniel said something similar about the body taking a pounding riding the 450 compared to riding the 400.. I also found quite interesting that the ktm 400 is more expensive than the 450.. It was mentioned that KTM brought the same quantity of bikes, 450 and 400 into the country for 2010.. all the 400’s are gone and hard to come by lots of 450s around..
Will do… As I told him just tire kicking at the moment.. I probably wont be ready for a few months and will most likely get second hand.. If the right one shows itself before hand I may jump though.. I want to ride few flavors before I try and convince the minister of finance that for “safety” reasons I need new bike.. :woohoo:
Thanks TB I just spoke to Daniel… Great bloke and seemed to know his stuff.. I hope to go and meet him in the next few weeks for a further chat…
Is that the 400 exc? whats the diff between the 400 and 450 besides cc’s?
What are they worth new?

TBOk that was going to be the next question.. Quality of these vapor and vapor style units… I want to add another trip meter to my bike to go along with the one on the speedo.. The more the merrier I figure..
I posed this same question in another forum.. The best advice given was to first visit the mechanic or shop that you will use, state your case and sort of sas them out on what they expect to pass you.. A mate got kicked back because he had a rip in his seat.. He just put duck tape over it and the bloke passed him next go..
Based on my experience, you will need lights, blinkers and mirrors at a minimum.. Chain guard and tires some over look..
If your tires say “Not For Highway Use” some wont pass even though as Jeffro said there is no law in NSW for tires.. “DOT Approved” and “Not For Highway Use” are for Sepo land.. I asked the question on tires and got 4 different answers..
So TB you dont you have the stock speedo anymore? do you have a larger more zoomed in view of that setup?
Interesting question though on the speedo..
I have an after market one that may work with your bike.. What are you riding? (Yamaha?) You can have it.. Go to ballards site and open their online catalog.. http://ballards.cc/68-page-catalogue It is pictured in the top left corner of page 37…
Hi Blue.. Glad you asked this question… I bought one of these yesturday.. I hope it works…
One word.. Wired!!
Just my not so humble opinion…
here is a nice setup
Ok.. can I get a temp slot? Need to confirm something before full commitment…
Cheers…
Chris………..whats the average grade of the ride going to be?
