Quote:Rat,I’m just researching how to check the valves on my 07 250excf and the repair manual doesn’t really help much but it does mention the use of shims for adjustment. Is there a better ‘how to’for checking the valve clearances than the repair manual?
I think its in the KTM tech help
Im with Blue 450 but what is the clearance and how many times have the shims been swaped for thinner ones to make a call on valve recession
Yes you need to measure first then workout your ajustment to thickness
Have fun mate will have to have a few drinks when you get back
Spewing we were not home and out enjoying the SF around here only went for a quick blast 30 odd km The Rat found a big mud hole and covered himself and his bike with mud and i was haveing a hard time not falling off lmfao we then went some new and old trails but it was a bit slopy in places we hit stupid speeds up centre ridge and made it back just in time for dusk and a few drinks a good time was had by all i think

Quote:I read something last night in a well known Australiasian Dirt Bike magazine that has to be one of the worst pieces I’ve ever read ever in any magazine, the 2 stroke versus 4 stroke comparison.
It is so full of misinformation on both camps it defies logic that anyone with any knowledge proof read it before going to print. They pitted a 125cc MXer against a 250 4T, and boldly stated this was a fair comparison, even the AMA with the might of the japanese against them have stated this is not a fair comparison of capacity.Apparently the bottom end of a 2T needs replacing at 30-50 hours, and the price of 2t premix will outweigh the oil costs for a Hi-Po screamer 4T, it was an absolute farce.
I smelt the weight of the japanese 4T advertisers behind the whole article.

Are you sure you read it I just did and it says 2t is cheeper and easy to diy maybe you got the shits and didnt make it to the last bit
