The problem I believe is that the coolant exits from the r/h front of the cylinder head and there is a large exhaust port blocking the coolant path around the l/h side of the head and this causes a hot spot around l/h exhaust valve which causes core shift and moves the inlet boss off centre and causes the valve to scrape on the valve seat and wear itself out faster
    this is just my theory
I have some very simple and cheap ways to test this

Interesting and I can go with that, but how come so many do so many miles without this problem and by many I mean thousands, do they have a different head casting for different models?

Moto fathead is having both inlets done, guides, seat and valves. It seems to have been dusted before Chopper got it, the valve was worn we adjusted but it was on the way out and has continued to wear at a rapid rate, exhaust valves and clearnces are fine, which is a normal thing when dust has been involved

    TB

Having some time to think and this would only be the case if all engines/valves did the same in the cr case it is but if this is a one off problem and not common that the valves havent worn evenly it could be a poorly installed valve guide or seat

I don’t see why you can’t put 110% into a race and work the next day. If you can’t, maybe your just not fit enough.

I’m not saying I could, far from it, I just don’t see why you can’t. When I was fit I raced to two 6 hour endurance MTB events and gave it my all, I was in so much pain at the end I thought I was going to have a heart atack. If you were there and told me I didn’t give 110% I would have mustered the energy from somewhere to shove my bike up your arse. I went to work the next day, sore bruised and barely walking…..but I was there.

Do the top 10 finishers of the ironman all not go to work the next day?

F#$@ work after pe i couldnt turn the front door knob to get out of the house

Did a setup on a KDX 200 and it was measured from the top bolt center to the btm of the spring platform nuts we could have a crack at it here if you want over the weekend do you have the manual for it

Yeah I have a manual but it is in Japanese, as I bought the bike in Japan.
When we first got the bike it was a bit tall for the young fella so I just wound down the spring but now he has grown a bit and riding it pretty hard I thought I would get it right for him.

Thanks Puddles I will give it a go at those measurements and see how we go. If I can’t get it right I will come to you Bull, cap in hand.

Mick wont need your cap in hand just offering to help, there is a few tricks to the cooling system i worked out on my mates boys bike
He got the 85 off you:lol:
