Quote:Mr Rat, dissention is good, it’sd where good ideas are born, and I was probably exagerating about all year, depends on how many rides I do, but 10-12 medium rides on gearbox oil, would be rule of thumb, this year that would be about my total so far.And logic, who’s using logic, I just do stuff cause some bloke at the pub told me to….
I wish the Karma system was here I would pay for that one
PS graphics came up great ta for that Bud. YOUR WELCOME MATE

Quote:Well much to every ones surprise I went for a ride today.
Met up with Strucky, big dog,glen71 & 2 other non old bulls Clint & Geoff.
myself,Strucky, Big dog & Clint left my place about 2pm headed to the Ghost rd to meet the other’s.
It was decided from there that Big dog would lead. So of we went started on some nice easy trails. After we came out near the power lines near Bonny Hills, Glen71 said he new some awesome single trails . So with him leading we hit these trails. I couldn’t believe it we would be riding along a main trail (trails I have ridden along heaps of times) & Glen71 would just take a turn & we would be going along a couple of K’s of excellent single trail this happened all afternoon all up we done 40K’s had a ball no pictures. Finished of with some nice ales at my place.
so to the non believer’s sometimes I do ride my bike & even have a attempt at a short but sweet ride report.Cheers Puddles
You Dog I should have slowed down when we were working together:angry:

Quote:I don’t think DXIII has anywhere near the lubrication properties of dedicated gear oil, and as T/B stated all of us who have run it change it frequently, probably every 2-3 rides, whereas dedicated gear oil would go all year and be changed at coolant time.Thats just the problem there Mate, all year on one gearbox oil change, does it come out as grease to be then used for the headset lube???…..Mental note dont buy your secondhand bikes
Another point is what type of bike, my choice of off-road bike is light, turns on a dime, with instant “hit”, not a huge amount of torque to wind up the gearbox, or to cause “gear-climb”, therefore the oil shear issues are lesser than say a hussie 570 or tt600, in my style of bike I can get away with a light “slippery oil” but if I was running a big-bore 4T I’d be using a good quality mainstream lubricant. Now having said all that my old kato 300 disliked the ATF, but loved the Mobil light.Horses for tracks methinks.
Now T/B what’s your next bike gunna be?, and got the M/cyl all good, fitted it up last night, thanks mate absolutely tops.
Now let’s talk brake fluids…..
BC
Sorry Mr Blue, I just dont agree with the logic there Mate:dry:

Good luck trying to get him to go backwards, he is on the KTM now remember
I also forgot to mention that my oldest wears a V3 and my youngest a V2, in my opinion the fox range of helmets are good value for money:)
Well Mate she looks fine , I think your boy will love it, there is only one small problem, when
Kieran gets too big for that Mini Adventurer……… I have a 65 to fill the gap, and then there will be three of the devils bikes in your shed:laugh:  :laugh:Trailboss wrote:
Quote:Moto wrote:Quote:Do you know about the whole AS sticker/compliance issue with helmets bought in the US?Do you Moto
I have two US purchased helmets and have had some problems when racing because of the Australian compliance issues, the law states if its DOT approved it is ok but that hasn’t always worked for me. BTW DOT exceeds the AS compliance so it shouldn’t be an issue but can be go figure
KTMRAT would be the best person here on the site to answer as he is a scrutineer
I read that you had purchased the helmet overseas but didnt think you raced so didnt think it was worth raining on your excitement of a new helmet..
So enjoy
Rat can you clear up the DOT V AS issue
TB

Quote:Adrian the road riding is not an issue its only when racing, also how about a picture of the said purchase when it arrives :laugh:TB
The only time you will have an issue with the standards of the helmets manufacturing compliance is when trying to get the helmet through scrutineer at race day, the DOT is acceptable by the current GCR’s (General Competition Rules) as per Motorcycling Australia , they are the governing body of the racing of Motorbikes, there is actually a list of acceptable compliance’s and their logos, there should also be an Australian standard tag sewn into the inside lining if it came through the importer to Australia, but as in your case where you imported it yourself the DOT will be accepted as it is on the list of approved helmets standards, but all this is just for your interest as you dont intend to hand it to a scrutineer do you?

Quote:Sorry Beatle but I cant help but feel that auto fluid is for automatic transmissions, do you know how an auto works and why that fluid suits its use. Cant help for mind that the manufacturer in this case KTM would have a recommendation that in their testing would give you good life and service from their / your gearbox thus making you happy, telling your friends earning their (KTM) product a good name and thus selling more bikes?Everyone I know that uses ATF uses it in little katos (like an auto) or they run it in bigger bikes and change it all the time, take into account your time and the amount used changing it with more regularity I feel would be as expense
I am just not hip with this being an expense TB, the way I look at it , it is a Mechanical luxury for the machine, changing oil more regular than usual, always flushing out unwanted contaminants, playing with my baby bikes, I dont think of this as an expense just a luxury for my bike’s drive train, and I love my bikes
I work for a major engine manufacturer and we recommend you run a certain grade depending on which engine as we want it to live as long as it can, we have our own oil but bottom line is we need the grade of oil to be used
Just my thoughts
TBMate all the rest I agree with completely
Thanks mate and your welcome , even though you are deluded by blue:)
No it is driven by the 6mm socket:)
I am used to talking to myself, its just the arguing I cant stand
$12 plus postage Mate
BC the threaded screws that goes into the plastic are a K60 X 20 WS6 which means a 20mm long wide pitched screw…..hope that helps:)
