They are just two examples there are many more
You see a conrod and its respective brgs, crank, head bolts, head gaskets etc are all designed for work with a set weight reciprocating around the engine creating set stresses throughout the engine. When you increase the loads within the engine you decrease the reliability because of the extra stress within the engineTRUE THAT
Forget all the emotion that this topic will create. I do this stuff for a living the above about extra engine stress for a component not designed for it is fact.
The gains aren’t that great, practice braking later good suspension good tyres will have a large nett gain on your riding then a big bore kit AND TRUE THAT TOO, DO BOTH AND ALL IS EVEN BETTER
PM me a land line number and a time you can talk and I will share what has happened to me and what I have seen with others
TB
What gearing do you run
I have had the opinion for years now that these shoot outs are a bunch of crap and are written to suit the highest bidder in the advertising stakes, I have not seen an honest result in years…….I bet none of you saw that coming from me, Hey Guys
I have a few friends who have been busted with this and the real rego is back dated and payable to the rta and then you get a swag of fines ranging from unregistered , uninsured and then fraud…..think twice friends think twice

Quote:G’day Ladies and gents.Have to say I have been having the odd look over what you lot are doing for a few months now, should have joined up then. Congrats to the crew that are putting this together, it’s awesome.
A bit about me then hey, been riding a while and still put the odd lap in, even front the start gates every now and then. Kind of tied up with HVMCC, and if this doesn’t give my ID away, I have recently discovered the blessing that god has provided through machinery designed and built by KTM!!!! Rubbish its the brain washing I have given you over the years MATE
I have to make it clear that I am not much of a computer man, in fact I am about as handy as a torn brake line.
Speaking of not being handy with the computer, I am also not real handy with techo stuff in general (a dud I know). Has anyone got any info or ideas on decent handlebar GPS’s for trailriding. I also get lost easy!!!
O’h and if anyone needs decent tyres, sing out, I have been using MxRetreads for ages now….. that’s not sounding like an advert is it??????
Cheers
see ya out there

a- not good at relating to the real younger ones
b- over $200 a session….
While I don’t mind spending money ( oh believe me I’m good at that) it rankles a bit when you know what the standard rates are elsewhere.
Keep up the good work Mr Rat and his talented students

Bruce I really enjoy working with any age but the young and the girls would have to be my favorites, I also work with a few A Graders and have shaved times down continually with them, I like the challenge of the difficult cases that wont listen , I think there is not a demographic I dont enjoy,
I have also been acredited to do flat track, Motard and Super cross, but I enjoy the 7-15 year ages at MX mostly I thinkThanks for the compliments Mate, and the way I figure it if I can just spread the sickness and obsession to a few others I have done my lot in life and bikes and bike riders will remain with us, we need obsessive compulsives to do the work and spread the gospel of speed and adrenalin

It is 2.15am and I have just finished servicing all the toys for the next three days of schools,
See you soon MickEagle I only ate dirt when we raced for a poker hand remember, and the front was flat as I recall, there was not other hitting the deck till then and after, I did ride the next day as well, with some help from a few good meds
I really do enjoy these schools, and thanks for the positive feedback

Most contacts will do the job but if you want it done right the best adhesive is a contact but it has an extra setting agent and thats heat,Let me explain, your standard contact goes like this you put it on both surfaces let it completely dry and then give it second coat to get it to have full penetration, when that coat has tacked off but not completely dry you press them together,
The Heat contact is a longer molecule chained glue and needs a slightly different application, first coat as normal contact, second coat will take longer to dry and when it has almost dried, you hit it with a heat gun, mild settings here, this links the chains of both first and second coats, and whilst it is hot you then press together, but now the critical, it needs to be pressed together when hot and held until dry, only then can it be released, you can stuff the boots with heaps of newspaper to make them solid sort of and then you can get creative with a vice and squash it,This thermo glue is a little more expensive than normal contact, and I have found that the cheapest way to get small amounts of it is through your local bike shop or Suttos and ask for the Alpinestars Boot repair contact cement, it comes in a size tube that will do two soles easily, and Alpinestars is the only proper thermo setter, there is another one that you can get and the name alludes me now, but dont get nothing bit the Genuine Alpinestars stuff and all will be good
So there you have it
Oh one last word, the best join will only be achieved if both surfaces are totally clean, scuffing or scowering with abrasive wheels is the go for prepping before glueing
