  • :( :( Unfortunately I am working this weekend so I won’t be able to attend. I wish everyone the best on this ride and I am sure that it will be another cracker by Ride Adv. I hope to help with some pre-running though.

The upside is that I will be working at Finke :woohoo: Looking forward to that.

    Ride safe.

    Lefty ;)

Get on to this one folks cause it’s going to be another ripper Ride Adv Adventure :woohoo:

    Cheers,

Firstly I would like to thank Rideadv.com.au for putting on such a great event in some very trying conditions. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side but this is one thing that we cannot control. We had all seasons, wind, rain, snow……..the lot. But I tell you what it was still bloody awesome. :woohoo: A big thanks to TB for being able to lead this ride with him, cheers mate. Also thanks to all of the other sweeps and support vehicles, crew and logistics personnel that make this event possible as without them we would not be able to do what we love. Also to the sponsors of ride adv which include both Yamaha and Adventure Moto, Thank you very much for your ongoing support.
It was a very enjoyable few days with great memories and great friends thank you all.

    Pictures to follow……..more later.

    Cheers,

The wheels are balanced Lefty. It is not so much a vibration type shake it is where the bars wobble back and forth sort of like a high speed wobble.

 maybe 690 head shake mate. have you got a steering damper?
640 seems to be ok, but I have never ridden a 690.

    Left one ;)

    Hey Jeffro,
Just make sure you balance the tyres. This is probably the shaking that you are experiencing.
    Front 18-22psi Rear 12-16psi (Don’t tell TB though!! ;) )

in reply to: ADVENTURE RIDER TRAINING WITH STEPHEN GALL #256160

Yes I must say that this is a great opportunity for those riders who would like to improve their skills on an Adventure Bike. To have a Stephen gall as a teacher is amazing as he is a master of his profession. I am sure that we can all learn something from him. As I say “Every day is a School Day” ;)

Thanks to all of those who have organised to make this happen and I hope to get out to at least one of these days to further my skills also.

    Cheers,

Anyone had experience with Rally Raid D908 tyres?

    Hey there Jeffro,

    Nice 690 there mate!

As for the 908’s I have been using them of late on my KTM 640. The fronts are quite soft in their knobs and tent to squirm under the front and give you a little un settled feel until you get used to it, however the wear rat is not too bad. if I can get hold of a MX-71 Dunlop before the High Country I will change it as I used one during a recent ride with TB and loved it.

As for the rear they seem to wear ok, however once you get to around 30 to 40% worn and lose the radial grooves in the blocks they become a bit of a paddle tyre where braking and drive is still ok, however there is very little lateral grip. The last one I used I grooved the blocks and it was heaps better, however the wear rate went through the roof. Using a Michelin UHD tube you can run low pressures as they have quite a stiff side wall and good puncture resistance.

I hope this helps as they are quite expensive. Best value for money is a Dunlop 606 Rear IMO.
