LeftyHey There Rocket,
The Wossner piston is std comp which is plenty at 12:1
The cam chain tensioner is a Dirt Works one so no problems there. I forgot to take some photo’s of the cylinder head for you to see. But one thing that I can say is that the valves are Delwest Titanium inlets and Stainless steel exhausts. As stated they have done 7600km and over 200hrs and they are still the original ones. I showed TB the head when it was complete. I put the original shims back in and the valve clearances are well within spec.Lefty

  Yeah mate of course! Thanks for that eh!
Well I’ve got the cylinder head and barrel back from the machinist and now it it time for reassembly. :woohoo:
I have decided to use a Wossner piston Kit as they have a better ring pack than the std piston and will seal better for longer. I have also decided to use a Cometic Head and Base Gasket kit as I have had many years of success in using these components in many of the race engines that i have built.
After checking the piston/bore clearance and the piston ring end gap she is all good to go.Barrel and Piston Kit and gasket Set
Wossner Piston Kit
Piston in Barrel ready for assembly
Barrel on and piston installed
Cylinder head On
After re-installing the camshaft, timing chain, rockers and shims then the timing chain tensioner and checking the valve clearance she was ready to go.
I then installed the rest of the accessories, radiators, exhaust, rear subframe, clean air filter, new oil filter. I then filled her up with coolant then new Motul 5100 10w50 engine oil in both the gearbox and engine. Installed the tank, connected the battery then it was time to hit the starter………… Brrrrrrp! She was fired into life and purred like a kitten. Ready for another 200hrs of fun.
Happy days eh! All in a Sunday’s work really. :laugh:Cheers,

I’m interested in this nylon you found and where it’s from though . Also where the oil went in such a short time ???
So we will wait on the verdict .
Have a great ride lads looking forward to the RR
  I have just found the problem on the big Ten. Oil pump driven gear failure. Both the oil pump and water pump gears are plastic and the oil pump gear has exploded due to oil pump seizure. (More on that later) However the good news is I believe that we have saved the engine from terminal failure. :cheer: I have ordered some new parts and will re-assemble when I get them and check that everything is ok. (Fingers crossed)
I must apologise. I went to the start yesterday and took some photo’s and a vid of the boy’s leaving Windsor, however i haven’t had time to scratch myself at the moment, I will try to post then as soon as i get a bit of time.

bones wrote:So just getting this right in my head the engine oil was low causing the release bearing to run dry . I bet he will be pist off
when finds out a bit of oil would’ve fixed the problem . Great job Lefty , picked up and repaired in the same day , awesomebones
The Jury is still out on this Bones. After talking to TB he mentioned that there was some plastic or Nylon type material in the release bearing shaft. I couldn’t find any. I lubed everything up and have done 20km trouble free. I have a genuine workshop manual which i will study later tonight and see if there is anything plastic/nylon that may fail inside. I will drop the oil and filter also to see if there is anything there.
Cheers,
LeftyNo Eag’s. Jacko is on Steve’s (Adventure Moto) 800 BMW.
However it is possible to deliver. It just depends on location, work, etc.
I didn’t see him Spud, by the I got to Barrett’s they had loaded Steve’s BMW800 and were gone. But I would imagine he would have been a little pissed off.
