Well I picked up Nickj’s Tenere from Barrett’s (Nice bloke Jason Barrett great products too!) at Bilpin to diagnose and repair the clutch issue. The boys kindly pulled it apart and left me with a dead Ten and a bag full of clutch parts.   I got it back to the workshop, found a maintenance manual and proceeded to diagnose what went wrong and look to see if I had to order any parts. I found all the parts were ok and nothing was missing or needed replacing on the big Ten, so I re-oiled the clutch plates installed the pressure plate & re-torqued, installed the clutch cover and fired her up. I have just completed around 12-15km and all is perfect. One thing that i did find is that when I checked the oil it did not register on the dip stick  . I think this may be a bit of an issue with the clutch or the release bearing running dry. But all seems ok now.

Unfortunately I am going to have to withdraw from this ride.I was so wanting to go as I know that these rides are so much fun and seeing various parts of Aus by bike is awesome. However after a lengthy xmas break I must get back to work. I wish everyone a great and safe ride and i am sure it will be awesome. I hope to get back on another ride soon.

   No Mal but I must agree it is a little heavy.  I put a Goodridge clutch kit in it complete with springs and a new genuine clutch basket. Having said that it is bearable provided you keep it all lubed up.

Chicken wrote:Thats ok Mick, the engine was a running 630 before the rebuild and I bought it because it had gear box problems, we have just rebuilt the engine as it wasYes that’s right Chicken. I spoke to Mick earlier about this issue and looked at it when I disassembled and then reassembled the engine. It had the auto decomp previously removed and had absolutely no signs of any camshaft or rocker wear so i believe it will be fine. As i also mentioned earlier i did 110km on a test ride, changed the oil and filter and it was as sweet as.
Cheers,
LeftyYeah thanks gents.
The rebuild is complete and i am really happy with it. The engine is now is a 630cc with a New 100mm Wiseco forged piston and ring set. The Cylinder head is a ported large cooling fin type and has been fully reconditioned. It still has the standard cam shaft with the auto decomp removed. Carburettor is a Mikuni with some slight jetting mods to suit the larger capacity. She pulls like a 14yr old with a Playboy eh. 😆
The gearbox and clutch assy are all brand new and shift beautifully. I completed around 110km on the big 630 then completed its first oil and filter change ready for delivery.
Oh! I also fitted an oversize EBC front Disc Rotor and Caliper bracket to better enhance the big girls stopping power. After the bed in period, which I also completed it stops now very well.Cheers,

Awesome report Kat. It looks like a great part of the world to get out and explore. A must do one day.
Cheers,
LeftyYes i really need to look into getting a Spot. I ride alone quie often and the only thing that i usually carry with me is my phone and on many occasions i have had no service and have thought to myself SHIT! i hope that i dont have an issue. Although i do tell my wife and others where I am headed. Although that may be to late in the unfortunate event of an accident.
RIP old mate.
