Good advice TB
Wayne, Got to work on Sat. and gain some brownie points on Sunday before I head down to Ken’s on Tues for a few days riding around the Alpine countryside.

I wish I was riding Alpine country. Hang on, not now, it’s too cold. Later in the year I’ll get down there. Maybe November.

Glad to hear you’re mending TB. A bit of a ride won’t hurt it.
I have to keep reminding myself the DR650 is not a KTM450.

Quote:The support vehicle is going straight to Condo from Tamworth. Everyone riding will need to get their gear for the support vehicle to Condo. Also we need to carry as much of our own gear on the bike that we can to reduce the load on the support vehicle. A smallish bag, your drinks can go in the couple of community eskies with your food. Who is driving out to Condo from through the Blue Mountains. The reason I ask is Moose, Mick (if he gets permission to go) and myself are riding out from my place. We need someone to pick our swags up as they go through so we can ride
Any takers?
TB
I can go that way. It will just be MickP and myself so I should be able to fit all your gear. Pick up sunday morning. You’ll be gone by then if your riding.

Quote:The tyres you start with will be the ones you will need to finish with mate, we wont have the room to carry spare tyres on the ride (I only ordered 2 to use one elsewhere, cheaper for 2  )A Set of Bajas on that sort of riding will do the mileage.
Note to all going
The guys that are going to need to do and oil change mid ride will need to send there oil and filter to an address we will provide at Tippoburra. You could freight a tyre with your oil and filer. By the way package you oil so the freight company cant see its oil  or they may refuse to take it being flammable and all

6000km between services. Don’t ya just love DRs.
I preped the DR this afternoon for the ride Saturday. Cleaned the air filter……..that’s it. Everything else checked out fine.
I might be a Suzuki convert.

Quote:Will 2 complete sets of tyres be the go for this trip ,I have never got more than 1000km out of a set and still felt confident with them, but thats riding different terrain to this??I was also talking to my local bike shop up here and she suggested a good gel seat addition for this trip, anyone else thinking about seat comfort, or is that just for the soft pommy !!!???
An Air Hawk is on the shopping list.
As for tyres, I’ve put a set of Pirelli MT21 front and back on the DR and hope to get some Ks on them to test them out.
:
(PS The sepo has sold the XR and his bling bling maybe well known DR will be on the ride)

Does this mean I won’t have the only DR650 on the ride and I’ll have someone to help carry spares……I mean , ride with.
I had a look at the Giant Loop bag at Suttos about a month ago and it’s the winner for me so far and selling for $395 there.

MurphToo true Murf, I know I don’t bounce like I used to.
Thanks fellas
Getting it screwed or plated on Friday and maybe back at work after Easter
I turned up at the parking lot to find Diddel, Justo and GavB waiting. Some quick intros and a chat and we set off. Went through Ourimbah State Forrest ST and a bit of fire trail and ended up at marble hill where there were some running repairs.
Marble hill
Diddel had a coolant leak, hope you sort that out mate
GavB with a bit more liquid metal on the case
looks like gav is trying to set it on fire with a petrol soaked ragReady to roll again
At the quarry we bumped into BMW Dave who had his two kids roaring around. We had a chat and organised a ride in the near future and then went down the hill to Yarramalong for fuel.
Up towards the letter A
Diddel
Gav B
Justo
Then down to Watagan Cr Rd and up to the top of the ridge towards Millfield.
On the way down I was having a great time sliding in and out of corners until I high sided. It was lights out for a little while but lucky I was in good company because they told me that while I was having a snooze they went off and did a short loop and then poked me with a stick until I woke up. Nice fellas.
This is the result
After I got my bearings we rode to Millfield for a latte. The wife got rung to pick me up because I had ‘bike trouble’ and the guys were kind enough to wait around to load my bike on the trailer.
Sitting around at Millfield
Justo
Gav and Liam
A perfect example of the male species complete with broken collarbone and goose egg on the melon.
The wife arrived with the trailer and was relieved that it was only me broken and not the bike. Thanked the guys and took off to Gosford hospital who within two hours found I wasn’t dying and shoved me out the door. I hope they plate the thing.
We were only 130km into the ride so I would have preferred to bust myself up at leased until we got through Pokolbin SF because we missed some great trails.
The gear is all washed and I’m prepping the bike now ready and waiting for the next ride, whenever that may be.
lotsa
See everyone tomorrow. Ready to ride 7am sharp.
have a good ride Jeffro
Of course no hard core dirt biker would ever consider drinking such a woosy drink as a latte but if you ponces want one I suppose we could make an exception.
I’ll have two sugars with mine
I’d just like to say a big thank you to the organisers, caterers, helpers and riders for taking part in last week end.
I had a great time on the trails and off, chatting to Old Bulls I knew and hadn’t met. Thanks to all.
Cheers
