Hey Murf
If I come along do you mind if I go around your snotty hills?
You could always do the loop in reverse……no bike pushing and still great riding.
My slave cylinder bore had a rub mark just in one area of about 1mm by 3mm but not scored. That in itself is enough for replacement of the part though. After replacing the oring and pressure applied, there seemed to be no leakage from the engine side of the slave piston/bore with the piston forced against the circlip.
I’ll test it out with a short ride this Saturday.
Could you let me know if the 7602 slave does the job and I’ll replace mine.

i think the problem is a bit of both the new oring on the slave cylinder certainly improved the sealing around the slave cylinder but i think the plunger in the resevoir could have been on the way outas well, because after getting the new plunger piston there is no comparison with the old one it was stuffed . Now 2 points lotsa the o ring for the slave cylinder take your old one to a cbc bearing ( or in my case it was a SKF bearings at sandgate newcastle who i cannot say enough about they have helped me heaps)and they will size it up for you and give you a replacement one he ended up just giving me one for nothing. POINT2 now when you are going to replace your magura clutch plunger / piston remember there are quite a few brands that use Magura clutches, when i rang up watsons at cessnock a husky kit for the magura clutch resevoir was $130 for the same thing off a TM dealer around the corner $ 41 bit of a difference EH! it looks a little bit different but it fits and it works. and just on a quick note on SKF bearings when i done the bigend rebuild on the husky mains bearings from the husky dealer $145 each SKF had the same C3 bearing but without the groove for the retaining clips for $8. 50 i then took them to a toolmaker who put them on his lathe and machined the groove in them for mefor $40 so all up it was $57 and there is no difference just make sure you ask for C3 bearings as these have the right tolerences, ive done about 700KM since the rebuild all is sweet. so my advice is get a bit of a relationship between you and your local bearing and seals dealer it will save you heaps . cheers Ian[/quote]Thanks Ian
I did just that. The slave piston oring is 24 x 2mm and the clutch is working. A better test on the trails. There are some rub marks on the bore of the slave cylinder but I’ll see how it goes. If the TM dealer around the corner in Cessnock is also the KTM dealer in the main street I’ll get a reservoir plunger from them or a bloke in QLD.Thanks for big end info. I hope I don’t have to use it though.
Happy trails
My clutch died last Sunday on the trails.
I found my clutch reservoir empty with no external sign of leak. I’m thinking if the slave seal is bypassing slightly into the engine, over a period of time the reservoir will run dry. It happened about four months ago and to fix it I just filled the reservoir ,bled it removing the old fluid and it has worked fine since then.
The correct fluid has been used.
I’ll try the sugestions above also.

Where did you get the slave piston oring? KTM shops want to sell me a whole piston and slave cylinder.Trailboss wrote:

I’ve been flat out this week so haven’t had a chance to pull it apart. No riding for me this weekend so a bit of bike maintenance is planned…..and house chores.
I FORGOT A BIG THANKYOU to Champo and RacyTracey for letting me load my bike in their ute from The Pines. Clutch fluid problems left me with no clutch and it was a lot more enjoyable cruising back in the ute chatting to Tracey than battling stop start on the way back.
lotsa
Thanks for putting a great ride together last Sunday guys and girls, you know who you are.
It’s a big effort from everyone who plays key roles so that I can ride all day without thinking where I’m going, where’s the next fuel and food or whether I’ll get left behind…..and it’s appreciated.
Looking forward to the next one.
Cheers

yep, good ride
I haven’t got much to add Murf. I think you said it all in your first post.
Twobanger was at Kulnura One Stop already and we got talking, lost track of time and ended up running late. We saw our first crash driving to the basin by a guy going down a hill near the road.
We took off at 9.45 with murf lead and 383hq sweep and found a hill. Knowing the hill I sensibly rode around and took some photos

Not the best trick to perform on a wet off camber rock downhill. Needless to say when the handlebars went higher than my shoulders I bailed. Thank god the branch found the brake cable because it was heading straight for my melon. Pity I had the camera.
Then we found another hill

Then we found another hill

http://i703.photobucket.com/albums/ww36/lotsasbucket/Trail%20ride%20photos/090726%20murf%20obt%20basin/DSC02629.jpgI have to admit I rode like a gumby all day and a crash going up some rocks actually bent my handle bars straighter!!!. After lotsa crashes I had lotsa bruises.
It was a good test for the radiator fan, home made tripmaster for the old digital ktm speedo and handle bar warmers I fitted to the bike the previous day still working after the ride and a pressure wash.
It was a pleasure to ride with everyone and thanks to Murf for posting and leading a great ride.
Murf if you want me to knock up a tripmaster switch for Tim let me know.
lotsa
