October 30, 2012 at 10:00 pm in reply to: 2 day full Navigation ride 3rd and 4th of November from St Albans #231684
Well seeing as how I’m out injured at the moment and won’t be needing my adventure gear, I thought I’d offer it to anyone who might need it for this ride or others in the next couple of months.
I’ve got a Garmin 60CSX, 12lt fuel bladder, Andy Strapz saddle bags and racks for a DR650, Spot2.
Other adv stuff too. Just ask if you need something, you’re welcolme to use it while I’m down or test it to see how useful it is to you
Might drop into St Aburns for a beer and a catchup on Friday
Cheers
lotsaGood buy there fushy
It’s got all the good fruit
Should I look forward to riding good adv trails up your way
Yeah Nick, great stuff
A fitting last ride in Australia
Good to see him finish near the top of his game and see what Rossi can do on a Yamaha again

Might sound a stupid question but why on earth would you want to lower the footpegs? I see Vince Strang sells a kit to do it but I’m wondering why you would???
Apparently the stock seat of the big girls are ordinary… any ideas on what blokes are doing to solve that one?
/quote]Sorry busy, that coment was a bit tongue in cheek
I binned my DR a couple of weeks ago and it is looking like a write off so there may be parts for sale or not depending on the insurance and what I get next.
For me I look for fuel at the 450km mark with my 30lt tank which is 15km/lt. Some DRs I’ve heard can do 20km/lt which would give you 600km range. The tank will hold a liter or two more than the 30lt after the tank has expanded a little after a while. The Acerbis tank looks good and looks like it may offer a better standing position for the rider than I’m finding with the 30lt.
Which is solved a little with the foot peg lowering kit. It makes transition from sitting to standing easier and moves the pegs back 12mm and down 25mm (or the other way round)
Anyhow I took mine off because I don’t want my feet any closer to the ground for ruts to get hold of them, I ripped a footpeg off on a rock while using them (I’d say they were a major contributor, not just my poor line choice  ) and I bent one because they hang below the bash plate. 12mm stainless steel is hard to bend. Also need to consider the type of bashplate like the Whipps that need to be modified for them to fit.Air Hawk for the seat. Best thing ever if you set them right.
Might be some second hand DR650 parts for sale soon
Me too
Oh…hang on :silly:
I can’t forget I was at turn 11 grand stand a couple of years ago when Stoner had the white coloured bike for his birthday I think.
He was cranked over going through that corner and the sound of the Ducati and I think the traction control was cutting in a bit. Rossi was chasing him the last few laps. It was unreal.
Sent a tingle down my spine.
Hope he wins this year. A fitting farewell.
Sorry to hear that Wolfie
I had the double ended camera experience a while ago but all OK
Why do women out live blokes? I reckon men think they are too tough or put it to one side because life is busy instead of going to the doctor
It would be good to even up those men women life expectantcies
Hope you get well Wolfie
Good stuff Pete

Jeffro wrote:So my ride didn’t go to plan.I decided to just ride my local spot and work on some new sections. The new track was coming along we’ll until a front end lose due to a rut caused me to hit the deck hard. Wind knocked out of me and some very sore ribs being the resul so I laid there for a while getting my breath back.
Got back up, picked up the bike but couldn’t get it started, tried for 10 minutes then rang for a lift home.
Bike is in the shed and ribs are giving me he’ll, must be time for some painkillers in a can
bloody hell jeffro , don’t ride by yourself. all kinds of stuff can happen, just ask me
you have my number if you get stuck. i’m doing bugger all atm
i use bridgestone uhd tubes in my ktm450 for 6 years and 25,000km and never had a flat
got lazy once not checking tyre pressure and rode with 4psi in the front and still no flat
when i sold the bike the front wheel looked like a 50 cent piece and the back wasn’t much better. still had the same 6 year old tubes
i’ll be sticking with them and go with the michelin as a second choice if they start failing
finally found some uhd 17″ tubes that look like they will do the job. goodtire, made by bridgestone apparently
Top RR Gav and an a different experience riding in the snow
Good arty pics
thank you for all your get well wishes
pain management is being taken care of by codeine, coopers pale and wild turkey american honey
ahhhh the serenity
Thanks TB
I was up the back behind Gavb and Tryhard and doing only 45kph
The DR cased out on a big rock embedded in the ground, pulled the rock out of the ground, went under the back wheel and all things together cart wheeled the bike
Pity I was on it at the time
Did a forward summersault and landed on my side and broke collar bone and rib
The bike frame was crushed under the bash plate and a big hole in the cases which let all the oil out.
It was late in the arvo so Gavb doubled me to Raymond Terrace to fuel the bikes and some nice people going to Canberra gave me a lift to Tuggerah where my daughter drove me to Wyong hospital
Oh, and a black eye when my wife found out I’ve busted myself up and written off a bike
Bloody good ride over the Barrington’s that day, riding through snow
