I do like the look of the husky though. So you live in lithgow and get your bike worked on in picton?! That’s where I bought my Husky from and it’s back for warranty.
Not that I’ve read around much but I’ve never heard a bad word about the new shercos and there’s a lot of praise out there for them and I’m tempted to try something a little different. Tried to find a beta dealer in NSW with no luck also. There is a new dealer just out of Orange. I have his card at home. I’ll post the number when I get home. I was chating to him at the Trials Nationals about Trials bikes but I think he can get the enduro models as well.

About September 2010 here mate.
It’s sad that they don’t get then here ealier as they would sell more. The 3.0 would be a nice bit of gear.Austblue wrote:
Quote:Well spotted there Mal, my parents are in camden and I’m due to drop in on sunday so I might see if I can organise a run for the saturday. I notice that the trials version has a 2.9 I wonder if they do a bore kit for the enduro model.Picton have 2009 4.5i demo. Give them a ring, I’m sure they’ll sort something out for you. And tell them to hurry up with my Husky. If you are looking at the 2.5i, check out the Husky 310. Talk to Steve at Picton about remapping. He rekons he has got some huge improvements out the Husky. Shercos are harder and more expensive to remap, gas gas are a little easier and they reckon the Huskys are shit easy, just log in and change what you want.
Back on topic.
The Shercos are a great machine.Try this austblue. I have had dealings with Lithgow and Picton. Both good shops and willing to help.

When I bought the WR250R it came with a 2 year / unlimited KM warranty. All you had to do was take it in to the dealer to get it’s sceduled sevices done. First one at 1000km, then every 5000km after that. I asked at the time would I void the warranty if I completed oil changes in between the sceduled intervals as 5000km in an offroad environment is sort of a bit long. I was told that as long as I used Yamaha filters and oil all would be good. I drop the oil every 1000 to 2500km using genuine oil and filters. To cut a long story short, I ended up with a leaking fork seal on the 250. I rang Inskips (local Yamaha dealer) and told them the seal was leaking and was told to bring it over and it was replaced under warranty no questions asked. I know that a fork seal is not as big as a scored cylinder but I was impressed that they did warrant it as a seal could be classed as a consumable item and given that Yamaha forks have a problem with leaking, I cant complain about the 2 year warranty that Yamaha offers. Whether it would be the same case with a major failure I don’t know. Hopefully it doesn’t ever happen.
Another Yamaha warranty claim that we had was when Kylie had her TTR230. The wiring was never done right when they got ADR compliance and none of the lights really worked properly. Even though we were not the original purchasers of the TTR and it had in fact ran out of warranty, Yamaha still came good with the goods and got it to how it was suppose to be.
That’s the sort of service you would expect from a dealer Dan and I believe I would get that service from this dealer on fork seals and any other smallish warranty claim. The Sherco had a leaking fork seal and it was changed twice in the 3 month warranty and then once outside the warranty. The Sherco was purchased from a different dealer.
My gripe is that it took Husky 3 – 4 weeks to make a decision. I would of thought if a bike came into the shop with this type of failure, the engine would be dismantled, photos taken and emailed to Husky along with the parts needed. I would think in a matter of days and maybe a few phone calls a decision could be made and parts ordered. If the decision was made not to warrant the claim then I would still have to get the bike repaired and then take it further with Husky myself. But to stretch it out over 4 weeks and then not have the parts is just rediculous.Murph has said that Inskips are good to deal with as well.
I’m confirmed TB.
Looking forward to a great weekend. :woohoo:

touch wood touch wood
Thanks mate, but I still have the Sherco and that’s why I have been so patient. If the Husky was my only bike I would be a lot more upset.TB

But weeks to wait for a decision is BS, in this day. This is my major concern Twobanger. I don’t think it’s good for business to take that long to make a decision.

Quote:Did Mal have the opportunity to cover it up front then argue down the line or would that have led to a case of “you paid ergo you admit fault/responsibility”No. I didn’t think to ask as I thought it would be a no brainer. But I did ask on the 3rd weeks call whether this could happen and it was no as the parts are ordered through the computer from the waranty claim.
Here’s the story so far that prompted TBs question.
I bought the bike as a demo with about 120km on it. Rode it for 4 weeks and had a bout 480km on it. I headed out for a quick spin the weekend before the Sunny Corner rally, when Murph was coming up for a ride. Riding down the tar at about 90km/h, I backed off slightly for a bend and went to accelerate and had nothing. Thinking something doesn’t feel right I pulled the clutch in and the engine had stopped. I pulled up and tried to restart the bike, but it was kicking over way to easily. I checked for fuel and spark and had both. So I pushed it back to a mates place. Lucky 2 strokes are light and sort of easy to push.
I rang the dealer when I got home and they said bring it back as soon as you can and we’ll have a look. I took it back on the Tuesday and they asked lots of question and said they were hoping to get to it that arvo. They rang back on the Thursday and said it had a heavily scored bore but the rings look ok and that Husky wanted some photos to make a decision on whether to warrant it. The dealer said this is usually standard so they have a better idea of what has happened.
I ring the next week and told by the dealer that they haven’t heard from Husky and will chase them up. I ask if the parts can be ordered and have them at the shop ready for installation when a decision is made. They said the parts are automatically ordered once the warranty is approved and it usually doesn’t take long.
I ring the next week and am told they are still waiting for a decision and more photos have been requested. The next week the dealer says the warranty has been approved and they are waiting for the parts and that Husky were trying to blame me for not having the correct fuel ratio. I run 50:1 as recommended and GRO oil as recommended. I also asked the dealer when I picked the bike up what ratio to run and was the bike ‘run in’. All was good then.
The next week (being last Wednesday) I ring and am told that Husky didn’t have a barrel for the WR300 on the shelf and they had also sent the wrong piston (a 250 one). I was told that back orders usually take about 2 weeks to come in.
Now I don’t want go screaming at the dealer because I think they are trying and they have my bike. I am thinking of sending an email to Husky to vent my concerns over to the time they have taken to make a decision and ask why they didn’t have a WR300 barrel when they knew they would sell one anyway.
I read on Café Husky that a WR300 in Australia had a bore fail and it was replaced. I sent a pm to the guy but haven’t heard back. There is also a heap of threads on DBW regarding Husky warranty issues. I ride with a couple of guys in Bathurst on Huskys and they believe that Husky put all these conditions in the service schedule so that you will void your warranty at some stage. The WR is supposed to have the piston replaced at 800km and I had just bought one to go in after Louee.
I still think the WR is a great bike and was real happy with it while it was going.
Accommodation sorted for Old Bulls mate
Nice bike Chris. I rode the 400 at Louee and thought it would be a good all round bike. Good to see the family out riding too.
See you up this way this in a couple of weeks. :woohoo:

Where are they going to put everyone… There is only 2 pubs in town for accomodation. Bathurst and Lithgow are 25 mins away.
The small surrounding towns may do alright out of it though. But I’ll be there anyway. I would have to really as I live close by. Donna has already put her annual leave form in to be my pit crew.
I will give you a hand Mal if you would like
TB
Thanks mate. We’ll chat over a few drinks at Hill End.
Good report as usual Dan. Can’t wait for next weekend.
