I PMed you White Rocket saying we will help were we can. I talked to the guy I’m crewing for yesterday while out riding and he’s cool with it. He is in the same boat as it’s his first year of racing and first A4DE.

The most I’ve seen out of the generator is 720 MW with all steam valves full open and the pressure wound up as much as we dare.I was at Incheon power station in Korea where they have 1200MW steam turbine (power stations normally utilise several smaller ones). The size of the thing is phenominal.
PS – For info 1200MW is 1,600,000 horsepower. It would take almost 20 of the biggest diesel engines (as per TB’s post) to produce the same power.
Mal – Where is your 720MW unit?
MAN!! that’s a big unit. It’s a lot of power to lose off the system if it trips..
I work at the bigger one in the Lithgow area. The units are rated at 660 Mw. But when the system reserve is low (or prices are high) we can run them in an overload condition of 700 MW.
Anyway sorry for the thread hijack.
Back on topic of diesel HP.We had that email of the big two stroke diesel go round work about a year ago. Amazing stuff. The link below is the starting of one of there smaller units. Still impressive.
We have a 1.5MW diesel generator at work that is used for emergencies. I’ll check the specs on it tonight and post them up. It’s big and loud.

I’m in. My better half just entered the dates on the calander in pen so their can be no arguments.
Let me know how I can help out TB.Mal.
I might be able to help out White rocket. We have 3 or 4 guys from the Bathurst DSMRA entered and about 5 of us going to help out. So we might be able give you a hand. Depends what class you’re riding and the time difference between our riders and your self. I’ll ask the guys and get back to you.
Cheers
mal.Yeh nice work Slug. You’ll have an endless amount of fun with that setup. Just wait until you back it into a corner for the first time, it’s the best feeling and takes a lot of commitment. Might see you at a track day soon then. 31st of march a group of us are thinking of going to Oran Park if you’re keen. There is nothing better than drifting past an R1 (or similar bike) into a tight corner.
Mal.
I’ll be there crewing for a mate. Not sure what that going to involves yet. It’s his first 4 day and my first time crewing for a bike race. Might just buy a few packets of snakes and a couple of cartons of beer and go from there. Apparently I’m not allowed to help work on the bike just get things ready and do fuel drops. Sounds easy enough.
I have a mate who got his 570 the day before xmas. He brought it up for a ride between xmas and new years to put some kms on it. I rode it around the paddock on a grass track I mowed for his kids and certainly has some power. To much for me (and him I suspect). The fuel injection is crisp and power is right there off the throttle. For me it still feels like a Berg, pegs feel close to the bars and it still feels a bit wide at the front but not as wide as the old model. The steering is a lot like the KTM, very quick and light. Every KTM i’ve riden has head shake (04, 06, 07 all 525) and that scares me. I didn’t get berg to any speed for this to happen but I’ll see him on the weekend and ask for another ride (fingers crossed).
We took him to Capertee on some of the tracks you guys used for the Hill End ride and this guy hasn’t riden for about twelve months and he was hunting me down on some of the rocky stuff so the suspension seems to be up for the task. I do beleive he will fall off the back of this bike soon as he seems to have a digital throttle hand, ON or OFF and the front just stands up HIGH every time.
The map ‘switch’ is crap. You can’t change while riding (like you can on the Sherco). You have to stop lift a cover off this tiny little dial then know which number to set it to. It works on resistance so we can’t set up a three position switch. We will be looking at this on the weekend to see if can make a better system.Cheers

Anyway I’ll post more if I get another ride. OH and yeh it’s a great looking bike.Hey TB.
I’m keen for the Christmas Party. Been to Louee once and it’s well set up for big groups. It’s a bit dusty and rocky but I just treat it as somewere different to ride. The canteen makes a great steak sandwhich too.
The sunny Corner Rally is on the 19th and 20th. Not sure if you guys do that or not. I have have a few mates that turn up for it so that weekends out for me. The other two weekends are fine.
Cheers
Mal.
PS. could help with organisation as Louee is only 1hr 15min away.Have a good ride guys. It’s going to be hot. 13 degrees at Portlnad already. I’m about a hour from going home from night shift.
Chris
Can you remind TB to text me of an estimated time at Yetholme today so I can try and get there to meet you guys. Only if he gets time. I don’t want to hold up the ride.Trailboss wrote:

NO rain here yet TB. It’s overcast and a little cooler. But I don’t think it will rain.
Will keep you posted throught the week.
I was riding in Ben Bullen State Forest yesterday morning and it’s very dusty. Might want to pack the spare air filters.

Quote:Which way did you go then Mal, or did you carry on through the logged section? Where exactly was it?, Was it Pinnacle fire trail or Dark Corner Mount fire trail or both? Can you PM me a contact number so I can chat to you about what you found, I will PM you mine if thats better for you
TB
PM sent
Hi Guys
Sounding like it’s going to be a great ride.
A cpoule mates and I rode to Capertee Pub from Portland yesterdy. It’s pretty dusty and rocky in places now after the storms in the last few weeks.TB. I’m not sure which way you are taking from Capertee to Yetholme but we but used the Pinnacle fire trail and Dark Corner Mount fire trail. The loggers are cutting all over the place and we found on some tracks that they had cut trees down across the road to stop vehicles entering the closed sections.
We had a about 2mm of rain yesterday on the Pinnacle track which turned the hard clay into ice. Fun for the ten minutes it lasted.
Anway enjoy ride the and I’ll checking the thread.
Cheers
Mal.Nice report and pics ECKS-man. I’m sorry I missed it.
Just got the engine back in the bike this arvo and got rung up for overtime. So connect everything up tomorrow and will be heading to some those tracks in your pics next Friday or Saturday.:woohoo:
Good to see you back on a bike.Hows the WR compare to the DRZ??
Cheers
Mal.Yeah.. the poor bugger. I think this is the first time he holed the case. I rode with him on the first ride after fixing this hole and guess what, it holed again…..He said a lot nastier words the second time. ECKS-man would have the full story. He was with him on both rides.
