I have had a Shorai in my DR for about three years now. Like Oldfatbeerman said, slow to crank when cold but works fine on second or third go from cold, once warm no different to any other battery.
Never had to charge it and my bike quite often will sit for three or four weeks without being started.
I would buy another without even thinking twice.
    Just my experience

I saw my mate Charlie this morning, he’s only got one arm bless him.
I shouted. “Where you off to Charlie”? He said.

“I’m off to change a light bulb”.
Well, I just cracked up, couldn’t stop laughing.

I said. “That’s gonna be a bit awkward init”?
    “Not really”, He said.

“I still have the receipt, you insensitive bastard”.

In the Pub the other day I was telling that old joke about what do you
do if you see an epileptic having a fit in the bath?
    Answer: Throw in your washing….
We were all having a good laugh about this when this big bastard tapped
me on the shoulder and said.
“I don’t find that very funny.

My brother was an epileptic and he died in the bath during one of his fits”.
I said. “Sorry mate. Did he drown”?

“No”. he said. “He choked on a sock”.

    Take plenty of batteries.
I used one of those before I got my Zumo 660.
You will get about 4 hours out of the batteries with the backlight on.
I wired mine to USB power fron cigarette lighter plug which helped but it still drained the batteries.
Once the batteries were flat the USB power will not work at all.
It is now sitting in the cupboard here at work gathering dust.

    Just my experience

I have both the 1 gallon and 1/2 gallon rotopax.

The big ones are only thin plastic. 2 or 3mm at a guess.

The smaller ones do not have an airvent in them and are much thicker, 3 to 5mm at a guess.

    Hope that helps.

I reversed mine after about 1200km and have got another 3000 out of it since then.

    Time for replacement I think.

Once I reversed it it did feel better than before so I reckon go ahead and reverse it.

I am no expert but mine does it and I put it down to richness from the choke being on as it seems to go away once I turn the choke off.

    Just a thought.

    STANLEY

Julia Gillard goes to a primary school to talk to the kids to get a little PR. After her talk she offers question time.
One little boy puts up his hand and she asks him his name.

” Stanley ,” responds the little boy.

“And what is your question, Stanley ?”

    “I have 4 questions:
Why did you bring in a carbon tax when Australians didn’t vote for it?
Second, why are you Prime minister when the Liberal Party got more votes?
Third weren’t you a communist at university?
Fourth, why are you so worried about gay-marriage when you are obviously a lesbian?”

Just then, the bell rings for recess. Julia informs the kiddies that they will continue after recess.

When they resume Julia says, “OK, where were we? Oh, that ‘s right: question time. Who has a question?”

Another little boy puts up his hand. Julia points him out and asks him his name.

    “Steve,” he responds.

“And what is your question, Steve?”

    I have two questions:

Firstly, why did the recess bell go off 20 minutes early?

And secondly, what the f*ck happened to Stanley ?”
