yes the water hose clamps, from the factory some are the crimped on type so need to be cut off if the hoses need to be replaced, yep keep an eye on those rubber carbi boots

good on ya Jeffro, never miss a chance! Hey while we are at it I have a 08 Fe450 for sale.

    Mr Hot

You had a look at the protection on my Berg at the Bday ride, bit of radiator hose with the right bend, cut in half and cable tied on, works a treat, also recommend either changing the clamps on the other hose connection to some standard hse clamps or carring some with you so you can do a bush repair if needed

    gday Mr Trot

Yep I totally without question miss the 550, the 450 for me has been the worst decision I have made when it comes to bikes, don’t get me wrong the FE450 is a good bike but just not for me also this 450 and I have, lets say quite a bit of history! maybe another FE450 would be different.
The weight is the same but the 550 feels a bit heavier in the singles due to the gyro effect of the big girl, my 550 was setup much much better than I have ever been able to get the 450 so for me that has been the biggest disappointment.
Do your research on the 550 if you go that way as they gave the most issues eg engine main bearing failures, apparently 07, 08 models this issue was fixed.
Did you lower the forks in the tripple clamps, it does help, but try both ways and see what you prefer, also if you do this make sure you torque the bolts on the triple clamps as stated, 17Nm top, 12Nm bottom otherwise you will effect the fork action

funny post this one now, when from Hey Mal5.1 to a BERG tech thread
    See ya

    Gday Mr Hot2Trot

Yep I met you at the Birthday ride, I was one of the lead riders, anyway it is important you get the basic sags right with any bikes setup, you wrote that your completed sags were 35mm bike any 300mm rider, hope the 300 was a typo
Anyway 95-105mm rider sag and 35mm static
The rear is very important as it effects the geometry/balance of the bike the most, get it right!!
You can also adjust the sag on the front but can’t remember the settings, the other thing I would highly recommend is dropping the forks through the tripple clamps to the 2nd scribe mark, makes the bike turn that bit better

If your into researching have a look at this site

Good to see we are stirring the pot again, will be very interesting to see who gets the bike and if they are a new or current member, my guess will be a very well liked member or a trophy hunter

They are a good thing, on my second bike with one, very handy when the going gets tough and your tired but be careful you can become lazy with gear changes and as a result more clutch slippage, if putting one on a bike with a kick starter as a backup I would not hesitate fitting one.
The bike can still stall under some conditions, quick shutting of throttle on carbie bikes, some harsh applications of rear brake and bike crashed

Hey old bulls, Mick from orange hospital here.
Firstly thanks so much to Galey for helping after the accident and coming to see me at hospital after. What a great guy.
Secondly thanks to all the guys who helped get me to an ambulance and everyone else who stayed around and waited with me and kept my spirits up.
Galey was right, my femur was completely snapped and the patella shattered. Now I have a titanium rod; some screws and wire keeping them in place. No idea yet on recovery time, as it depends on how quickly the patella heals.
Looking forward to getting on the bike again as soon as possible.
Thanks for the well wishes, Mick

    Hi Buddy,
Hopefully you are in Nepean hospital now and out of the sticks. Let me know if you need a hand with the van. This OBT site should keep you entertained for hours. Rest up

    Galey

Good to hear you are on the mend Mick, hope all goes well for you and don’t worry we Bathurst/ Portland guy’s will look after your bike:P

    Galey
What’s this sh*t about me being in a magazine, must be that look alike of mine again, also my ride at Wato is not looking good, looks like my shoulder is up for a bit of internal work after my crash at the bday ride, doc says I have done my rotator cuff but off to the special doc and more scans next week to get the full report

I walked past my bike in the shed this arvo so I’ll call that giving it the once over for the ride.

I’ll throw a mousse tube and a better looking tyre on the rear, fuel her up and she’ll be good to go. :woohoo:

A once over of the little spaniard is more like a stand there and smile at it, then a quite little cuddle, isn’t that right Mal,

Mine will be lucky if it gets washed and the damage from the autograph hunting tree fixed:whistle:
