i have income insurance through work. it covers sickness, injury redundancy etc. the company is called “protect”. i dont know if theyre aust. wide. they will pay out 100% of my wages (averaged on last 3 months) for up to a year, along with any hospital bills etc.
in fact they even pay you out a lump sum on top of all that, called a broken bone payout…
ie.- $1000 per rib, $5000 for a smashed knee, $4000 for a lost finger, etc.my boss pays for it. its part of our “enterprise agreement or industry award”
sorry ecks, im a unionist thru and thru i dunno about you blokes up in NSW, but down here in mexico, part of our yearly bike rego goes to the TAC (transport accident commision) it pays for your wages (80% from memory) and hossy bills etc. for any related transport injury.
even on bikes with “recreational rego”
its saved my arse on more than one occasion

both of them have actually

good to see you out riding XY. those hills look awesome
was the young bloke with ya when you tumbled? is he ok?
im not worried about you, your as tuff as an old boot

so, do you want some elbowpads for xmas now???
yeah, the power to weight ratio was halved as he took off
part 3, wednesday 30th sept……
Bill and Dens excellent adventure!!!!
after a massive day at STMs, i was in bed and snoring by 8pm. i woke before the alarm and was hangin to get out.
i love driving around the countryside, i often do it to relax. driving down to KTMBULLS place was cool as. heading down through nambucca with the river next to me in the cool of the morning was awesome. i even had a dude waterskiing barefoot next to me, and as STM says, some moments just burn into youre brain. i had so many of those moments on my trip, this was just one of them

i found my way to Bills…..almost
while driving down the road to bills, i could see a dodgy old commadore in the clouds behind me. i remember thinking, “shit i would just pull over for a minute. i dunno how that bloke can see shit!”
well it was Bill, who had just dropped the kids off and was chasing me down. missed his driveway and if it wasnt for having to stop to open a gate and seeing Bill, i might still be driving now  :laugh:we got to his place for one of his “famous” coffees. he has it down pat

we checked out THE shed, its bigger than the block of land i live on    its awesome and is filled with all sorts of different projects in all stages of life.
it was stinkin hot already as we kitted up.
we took off and did the warm up track which Bull had cut in with his trusty little dozer. heading out past the mx track and into the bush, Bill stopped and told me to lead. another true gentleman. he said “you go first, i know all the obstacles”  i started to wonder what i was in for!
i took off and got to, i think, the third corner, a nice sweeping right hander, hit the gas and i was into it!!
about mid corner the back swung like the proverbial “dunny door” and i was at full lock…then the front let go and time slowed down
i remember drifting “speedway style”, both wheels sliding, but still going in the direction i wanted to go. i reckon at one stage i had the bars straight, struggling for grip…
i thought for a moment i had it but then the bike fell over and we slid along the track for a bit. i was LMFAO, then i saw Bull slide past me on his arse, after trying to avoid me   it took some wind out of me, but hey, people say im full of piss and wind  …..all was good so we continued our journey.Bull took me up to the punchbowl. its a magic place indeed.

the water running down is good enough to drink. heres Bull filling his camelback….at one with nature

we climbed back out to the tracks and headed to the fire tower. well actually there is no fire tower…some dickheads burned it down, but its still a nice place with a great view.
the Kato was posing for me

Bull wife told us of some bloody strong winds they had there on the louee weekend. going by the leaves, sticks, branches and fallen trees on the tracks she was damn right. at times we were riding through 4 inches of leaf litter. it was different, but bloody good fun. we came across a large fallen tree and stopped to clear a track to a better point to cross it. we laid down some rocks as a ramp and all looked good. Bull hit it and got hooked up and spat the rock ramp out. well it looked good while it lasted. we muscled both the bikes over and kept on our way. my head was starting to ache from the heat and id finished my camelbak. i was glad when we hot the paddocks near bills place again. we rode back to bulls and were met by the lovely Kez. she cooked up some B & E for bill and made me a slinky apple as i wasnt very hungry. it was just what i needed and was prolly the best apple ive ever eaten. a couple of cokes help top our fluids up too.

Bulls place is cool. its the first time ive seen dogs, cats and chooks all living in harmony
we talked some shit for a while and then i had to leave.
it was another wicked ride under the belt

i stopped at the famous “fredos pies” on my way home for a crocodile pie…. quite tasty it was.
meandering my way back north to coffs i couldnt wipe yet another smile off my face
thanks bill, youre another bloody good bloke. it was a true pleasure to ride around with ya.
and thanks to Kez, it was a pleasure to meet you. your slinky apples rock.
i will be back up there next year with sammy. we will see you then dudes.

i bet hes already sauced to the eyeballs:laugh:
im with you mick, i miss the old days. i have a VHS tape (ha, remember them)  of bathurst highlights from the minis of ’67, onwoods till the ’80s. its wicked, the commentary is a crack up
back when it was “real”.
with five studs on each wheel and shit
and sidchrome spanners where phat
i like bathurst and would love to go one year, but i too hate the commercialisation of the sport….or any sport for that matter….
but each to their own i say

i honestly didnt like them when i first got them, but after a couple of rides grew used to them. i love them now though, i think they help you balance better on the bike when standing.
it IS wierd riding without them now
bring on the grip
and the bogs :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
