ANOTHER UPDATE!!!!an email that XY received from brian at “bush experience”
“Hi Andrew
Thanks for your enquiry.
We ride all year round, conditions during August are normally good and
rivers are still low enough to cross. A bit of rain and snow is what we are
waiting for, makes tracks nice and loamy, no dust. However there is enough
of a rocky base to enable wet weather riding. Access to the lodge is all
weather (gravel), with plenty of room for vehicles and trailers, undercover
parking for 20 or so bikes is available. We can accommodate up to 22 in beds
(bring your own sleeping bag) plus a few more on mattresses up stairs, a
good comfortable number is 16 or so. We need 8 to make a booking cost
effective.Have a look at my web site this one we’ve seen
or read the profile on
some extra info here on dirt bike world
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Brian====================================================================
AND ANOTHER UPDATEladies and gentlemen,
i have just got off the phone to Brian, the bloke from bush experiences. he sounds like a character and a good bloke too.
he really knows his sh!t about the high country and is very accomodating.he tells me the place is free for the last 2 weekends in august. actually all of august for that matter.
we would need at least 8 takers to secure his lodge with a 50% deposit paid by the end of june.
(deposit only required for first 8, then evryone else pays once they arrive. i will be asking all partakers for a $20 deposit to keep people committed though).
also once we get over 8 the price drops to $150 each for the stay…for all of us…BONUS!!
anyone wanting to stay extra nights before or after (XY), will be at $75 a night and will be no problem. too easy!the fors-
+) a comfortable number of bodies would be around the 20 mark but up to 40 people can stay (as he has done this before), it gets a bit cramped but its do-able, so everyone interested will be a goer.+) typical food is…breakky-bbq bacon eggs beans tomato toast cereals juice etc.
lunch…bbq etc if at lodge, salad rolls chockky bar drink etc if on the trails.
dinner…steak snags steamed veggies mash etc or spagetti bol or the likes.
…in a nutshell, noone goes hungry
+) if we do a big ride saturday, he will take fuel lunch drinks etc for us and meet us on the trails.
+) brian will provide maps, guidance if we need it, or anything else we may need.the againsts…
-) a lot of trails will be closed for winter from mid june till early november…brian says there are plenty of other loops between 60km to 180km that will will still be able to do. there are heaps of variations. they are still wicked rides but wont cover the famous huts etc.-) thats about the only downer that i can think of…
lets get it goin fellas……..
so we can leave these…..
I WILL BE BUMPING THIS THREAD OFTEN AS TO LET PEOPLE KNOW…..
my kato manual states that you should only use DOT5.1 fluid, or DOT4 if necessary.
dot5.1 has a wet boil point of 180 degrees C, and dot4 is 25 degrees C lower but will mix with 5.1.
never use DOT5 as it is a silicone based fluid and id dyed purple.
KTM gaskets and brake lines are not designed for dot5 and it should never be used!
hope this helps fellas
good on ya ecks-man, and all the ecks clan.
hope it all runs smooth mate,
here is some karma for your efforts.
it must have taken hours of photoshop to get boony to look that good.
he does fit into that bikini well though:laugh:
of course i will Ant….
im gonna get you on as many rides as i can before your “broken bone tim limit” expires.
might need to take you up on borrowing your trailer, as discussed, mine started to self destruct on the way home from your place the other day.
maybe if you ask Bec nicely, she will let you come on the high country ride in august….you can use my birthday as an excuse:laugh:
mine arrived today, thanks TB…..
ok, ive checked out the GoPro.
firstly, its cheaper:) , but the resolution is lower. does it do better vids than the AT3K?
how do you mount it TB, as i dont think the lens can be adjusted to put it in the side of the helmet? do you top mount it or put it on your chest (between your man boobs:P )
it can be upgraded to take a 4gig card, with software upgrade.
but what about battery life, how does it compare.im likin dan more and more:laugh:
its girly beer, infused with lime…(usually said with a lisp)
(sorry dan, but its true!!)
