“Kudos to you TB for helping ( well, mostly doing ) the updates and pre trip maintenance on the CRF.
Just goes to show that prevention is better than cure.”

aw what did he do? just pumped up the tyres

good on you big fellah and thanks for the update.

you may find that putting the wheel on top of new tyre is the problem……i put wheel on the ground and stand on tyre to drop bead into centre of rim…then insert levers opposite to where im treading (no pun intended) ….this is especially hard to do if your rear has ultra tubes as they dont want to let bead off the locking rim without a struggle…i saw a post somewhere and the guy used 2 G clamps to squeeze tyre together then attacked opposite side….you need to get the bead into the centre of the rim blah.blah.blah hope this helps as i feel your pain

i rang the RTA today and found out 1. any blue slip vehicle goes into random pick for scrutiny 2. scrutiny costs $58.00 3. all right off vehicles go for scrutiny and cost is $450.00
i feel a bit better about buying unreg bike now but still sucks if you get picked as there arent that many registry offices that do inspections….first one on east coast is carrington then penrith i think

in reply to: NSW REGO #186189

seems a bit excessive……thats what i thought….when i booked in( for inspection) i also changed address and the dude said “four sixty thanks” so i gave him 10 bucks thinking #4.60 to change address…….he says “whats this?” i says $4.60 for change of address….he says NO $460.00 for inspection….well my jaw nearly hit ther ground….so thats why i’m concerned about buying unreg bike

i had the same problem with handlebarbar mounted rear brake…i fitted it to ktm when i ran a rekluse clutch….aftewr a few k’s the rear brake would come on… :huh:the ktm gurus put ne right…the piston was too far in, blocking the bleed back hole (which can be felt with a piece of wire if not seen looking down the reservoir…i had adjusted the piston to give handlebar clearance which caused the problem…suggest you adjust the piston back towards the lever then backbleed then all should be good…hope you get it sorted..russ

i dont know T.B. the 525 was really easy to keep clean…i just washed the dirt off…no polishing, just wash…with the road bike the pipe may suffer from higher speed peppering and most TDM owners fit a fender extender too….the TDM pipes blue differently due to 270 degree firing order and i cant live with that..ceramic dosent change colour (ever) they’re really quite boring, they dont rust either, hopefully theycan withstand the grit blasting from the road but meanwhile they look heaps better than before…russ

youre using almost double the oil that i use…as ollie says 50;1 or 200ml for 10 litres….by using more oil you are leaning out the fuel air ratio (the same volume of pre mix goes in but there is less petrol in it cos there is more oil) …you camn also try some REDEX in the fuel before you pull it down as this does a great job of ungumming a 2 smoke…then get an iridium plug…..but first go to 40 or 50 to 1 mix and give the engine a chance to burn it…hope you go ok B) B)

last night battery went flat as i was thanking everyone so i’ll try again…….the 3 quicks (darren scotty and ben) were all riding 300 exc’s so with paul and me that made 5 out of 7 bikes on ride, smokers…i love the smell of 2t in the morning…..maybe making a comeback….paul you’d look good on a 450 ktm..or for that matter a 450 anything..you could call it katie :P ..i;d love a ride on ronnie but she looks a bit racy for me..thnks for organising the ride katgirl and thanks to ben for good singles in the first half of the day..initially i thought the trails too tough for the girls but didnt count on their grit, they may need new tyres and different lines but they sure dont need new tickers..hope to see you all at KOWEN forest https://www.dsmra.asn.au/index.php a DSMRA ride on 11 april..thanks again for a great day….russ

another standout on the day was paul…he wrung the crap out of a dt175? and the only thing slowing him up was a useless back tyre…but when he dnf’d a hill he went back down and had another go…great stuff
