Part one of Marty450 on the first lap. Mickktm300 is shown until he clears out.Cheers for the video’s Galey and STM!
Now I remember how pristine the track was on the first 2 laps. I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face when I got back to the pits. It was bloody dark in some sections though, especially the rain forest just before the grass track. I felt sorry for that bloke stuck in the rut down to his radiators, not sorry enough to stop though.
It was a lot of fun rounding people up. They were better at pulling over the later it got in the day although some did need the “Spud” treatment with some throttle blipping and YEEEWING. I tried to pass Tait on the second creek crossing by jumping off the bank and taking the non-existant left line, only to end up in a deep hole haha
How good was the grass track?! It was better earlier in the day before the breaking bumps formed but you could still round people up at speed.
As LC said, the motocrossers were hopeless on the hills. You’d get 4 or 5 of them on each hill if you could dodge them.
There was a great atmosphere at the event and especially around the pitts with a lot of the Old Bulls camped together. Great to catch up with everyone and have a drink or 20 post-race to celebrate.
Galey, great effort mate! Kimbo, Marty, Goccy and Tait, a pleasure as always!
Who’s coming down to Kowen this weekend?
Looking forward to catching up (and racing) down there fellas!
What’s the tent going to be called this time LC? “Camp QUICK as f#*k”?
Getting a bit sick of working on the bike in preparation. So far I have done:
New top end (and adjust base gasket to suit Slavens Mule head)
New tyres
New BB plastics
New grip donuts
New chain and sprockets
New bushes in the e-start
Carby flush
New exhaust packing
New gripper seat coverAnd due to parts arriving late, tonight I still have to:
Replace the flywheel (due to POS e-start chewing out the teeth, despite me doing the wet mod)
Replace wheel bearingsSo with a significantly lighter wallet and an ambivalent appreciation for Austrian engineering I will be ready to race on Sunday.
Watch out for the Dirty KTM 2 Bangers. I heard there’s a loose nut behing the handlebars on a certain KTM 300 from Bathurst.
I dont’ need one mate, just want a new spare to go with the spare RHS shroud I have.
Cheers
Thanks for a top ride Murph, I had a ball. The conditions were perfect with plenty of moisture to keep the dust down, some great singles and a few challenging hills to keep us on our toes.
Great video’s a pics, I’ll have to start treating the 300 a bit better.
Looking forward to the next one!
Mick
I don’t know if I’ve heard Goccy having so much fun on a bike!
Maybe Goccy should swap bikes with Cam.

The harder the better so Mal’s loop sounds good.
If it fills up I’ll quite happily roost Marty Monster on your loop. I might order a Stone King just for the occasion!
Should be great weekend of riding!
Hey guys thanks for a great ride on the weekend.
Things started off a bit slow with Jack getting back into riding after snapping his achilles. His bike wasn’t helping things either with a sensitive clutch and a motor that kept cutting out a low revs. Must be going through an emo phase.
We finally got the blue beast up the first couple of hills and then ran into some other riders negotiating a fairly easy rocky section of trail. Subtlety aside, LC and Moto rode straight past them unassisted and we got into the good stuff.
From memory, Prick Hill loomed up before us next which was a lot of fun. Determined to have a clean run up it I went down for another go, only to be fashnouckered at the very top by an odly placed, fit ball sized stone. There’s one pic attached of LC “pegs deep” in a rut on Prick Hill, and a video of Jack making it up.

Shortly after Jack and one of the blokes on a WR200 bid us farewell.
It was then into some fantastic single trail, led by Moto, with a few unnamed riders having gumby accidents on sandy berms and green logs to keep the crew amused.
The rocky ledges came next with the highlights being Daren’s balletic pirouette, LC trying to ride up a tree and Dude’s rock climbing efforts on what is now known as Spider Pig Crack.
It would have been nice to stay around and have a go at the different lines on offer but we were all getting pretty fatigued and low on water by the time we got to Wuss Hill.
This last photo is of Dude looking for his gold nugget in the creek.

Thanks to Moto for putting on fun ride and the beers afterwards. Looking forward to the next one!
…
Hey Moto
I spoke to LC and sounds like it’s going to be a good ride.
Do you mind if my mate Jack and I come along?
Cheers
Hey LC
Count me in! I ride with Galey and Marty a bit, so if thats not a problem id love to come along.
Cheers
MickThanks for the welcome back boys!
haha keep dreaming Galey, the only manual labour I’ll be undertaking is with a chainsaw at the shrine.
Eags it has been a very long recovery. I did my first post injury triathlon yesterday though so it must be feeling a lot better.
Cheers
Mick
Count me in guys!
It’s been almost 12 months since my last ride so I think I’m about due. One more surgery next Friday and I should be good to go.
Let’s see if I can make it to the second day this year haha
Mick
HAHAHA love the banter boys!
Marty’s get off is classic, although Galey’s 300 blowing smoke, after taking a dip in an Erzberg (read Sunny Corner) creek, as he streaks up the hill is also great to watch.
People often remark upon the sweet smell of Motul 800 as they go through the forest. You don’t often hear people praising the olfactory delight of burning clutch after a four stroke stuggles up a hill.
That bloke on the 400 was bloody lucky. If that last erosion mound wasn’t there he may have shot off into a tree and we all know how much that hurts.
August 2, 2011 at 2:07 pm in reply to: Prescription: Sunny Corner ride/camping weekend of the 6/7th August #205144Haha cheers guys; although I don’t fancy snuggling with Galey. I’ll be nice and warm in the van!
I bought all the parts for the bike I should bring it along and give Marty and Clarky a real bike to work on! LOL
