Hey boys I’m an “easily influenced maybe” to come up for beers Saturday night but I’m very sad to say I’m still a few months off riding.
A quick update on my leg: My femur has healed 100% and a lot of what was missing from my patella has now been filled in with scar tissue. I am walking without crutches and have been getting stuck into the physio and pool sessions to get movement and strength back. I am booked in on 12 August to get the screws and wire removed from my femur and patella although my surgeon says the titanium tube in my femur will have to stay in for about 6 months.
Good to hear you’re all excited for what should be an awesome weekend!
Mick
Great report and vids Mal. You fellas are lucky you get to go on those week-day rides with no one on the trails.
Galey, you will have to show me the spot of this infamous high-side I keep hearing about!
I love the hill about 4 mins into the first video btw… we rode that about a year ago on a Bathurst DSMRA ride in the wet and it was like riding on soap; there were bikes strewn everywhere. I think the video may even be on youtube…
Hey old bulls, Mick from orange hospital here.
Firstly thanks so much to Galey for helping after the accident and coming to see me at hospital after. What a great guy.
Secondly thanks to all the guys who helped get me to an ambulance and everyone else who stayed around and waited with me and kept my spirits up.
Galey was right, my femur was completely snapped and the patella shattered. Now I have a titanium rod; some screws and wire keeping them in place. No idea yet on recovery time, as it depends on how quickly the patella heals.
Looking forward to getting on the bike again as soon as possible.
Thanks for the well wishes, MickTrailboss wrote:Yeah welcome, Shire boy eh? Shire born and raised or a ring in 😆 ?Over thirty is the guide line for the obvious reasons but we have plenty under and a few that didnt survive
you will be right
Even being a Mick you will be alright I am sure, I mean there has to be an exception to the rule hasnt there  :cheer:TB
Thanks for the welcome Mick and TB! There are plenty of great Micks… Mick Doohan, Mick Fanning… Like I said I’m a Mountains boy originally, travelled a fair bit and lived overseas but always surfed at Cronulla so I thought why not live there?! Awesome going surfing whenever you feel like it and it’s not too far from the city for work or the bush for a ride.
See you on the 28th!
MickHey Marty,
It’s Mick, good to see you’ve signed up too! Looking forward to the 28/29th!
