100% right there. One of the better touche moments of the year. Good one LC… :pinch:
Goes with the job is suppose. Haven’t heard how he is yet.
Just to put things into perspective, California alone makes up for 47% of Suzuki’s totals sales and Australia just manages to come in at 4%. So I would be inclined to think Yamaha would be experiencing a similar sale rate.
First I disconnect the cables then I undo both clamps on the rubbers that connec ct the carby to the engine and airbox. Push the rubber that connects the carby to the airbox towards the back of the bike and remove that side first. Then twist the carby so that it comes out of the rubbber connecting it to the engine, whilst pulling the carb out the right side of the bike. Then reverse the process to install
Dunno about the 250 but I have never removed the subframe off a XR600 or 650 to get the carby out.
It is gunna hurt watching the build up to this ride knowing I cant make it.
Last years ride was without a doubt one of the better rides and OBT socialising I have done. Looking forward to next years one already.
Funny stuff there Chris. I am amazed that you didn’t want him to recalibrate his flux capacitor though. That would normally fix things in this situation.
All good here on my work computer and it is a heap of shyte. All good at home on the imac too.
Official Yamaha Press release for Sunday’s racing.
Yamaha riders lead all three premier championship classes and hold the first, second and third Outright positions in the championship point’s battle with just one weekend of Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) racing to go.
Tasmanian young gun and YZ475 pilot, Matt Phillips, took his fourth consecutive Outright round win today at round eight of the Yamaha AORC, held near Port Macquarie (NSW).
The victory scored the 18-year-old enough points to move into second on the Outright leader board (13-points behind Ballard’s Yamaha teammate, Chris Hollis).
Hollis, 27, from Wauchope, finished second to Phillips (and first in Championship E2) in yesterday’s round seven and today’s round eight.
Stefan Merriman, from Nelson Bay (NSW), sits third in the championship and first in Championship E1.
“I’m stoked to see everyone on the team doing so well,” Phillips said. “It would be awesome if we won the top three… it would be ideal from a manufacturer’s point of view.
“Today, I had a few issues. The track was really tough and [Chris Hollis] was right on my hammer.
“It was just a matter of trying to limit mistakes and trying to deal with the pressure, which was a challenge.
“We did eight rounds today. I won six and Chris won the other two.”
Phillips said that Toby Price would be making a come back for the last two rounds: “if I can put myself in the top spot, and Toby slots in between [Chris and I], I can win the championship,” he said.
“So the plan is to go and win at the last rounds at Salisbury. That’s all I can do.”
The Ballard’s Yamaha trio aren’t the only boys in blue in the Outright top-10.
Victorian Daniel Milner (of the Christensen’s Yamaha Off-Road Team) is eighth Outright and fifth in E2 (after scoring a third in class in Saturday’s round).
And Queenslander Kirk Hutton (who has won five national titles and 10 Queensland enduro crowns) is 10th on his YZ250F.
Yamaha is also dominating the Championship Women’s category, with the top three podium places being held by ladies on blue machines.
Championship points for the class hadn’t been collated at the time of release, but coming into this weekend’s rounds, Jemma Wilson (YZ250F) was in front of Emelie Karlsson (YZ250F) by seven points and Jessica Gardiner (WR250F) by 16.
In Saturday’s round, Wilson took the win (Karlsson second, Gardiner third) and in today’s round, Gardiner was the victor (Wilson second, Karlsson third).
The finale of the 2011 Yamaha AORC will be held at Salisbury (NSW) on October 2nd and 3rd. For more info go to http://www.ma.org.au/index.php?id=1417

Official Yamaha Press release for Saturday’s racing.
Riders on Yamaha machines roosted away with the Outright, Championship E1, E2 and E3 Class wins today at round seven of the Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) held at Hastings Valley (NSW).
Local boy Chris Hollis (from Port Macquarie) was the victor in E2 aboard his YZ450F, while his Ballard’s Yamaha Off-Road teammate, Matt Phillips, took E3 and the Outright on his big-bore YZ475.
The team’s main E1 rider, Stefan Merriman, was again victorious in his class with the help of his YZ250F.
“It was a tough day, the track was tight bush, handlebar-banging action,” Phillips said.
“The tight, technical stuff is something I’ve always struggled with. I was out to prove a point out there today, that I can ride in it, as there were a few people saying that I wouldn’t do well in the tight stuff.
“I hit a few trees, didn’t break my foot, but I hurt it, and I smashed my shoulder. But apart from that it was a pretty clean day.
“The conditions were slippery to start off with, but it got really tacky – ideal conditions for racing.
“We did nine sprint laps today and they were expecting to get the same number in tomorrow.
“Tomorrow, I plan to go out early and try and put on an early lead on the field… try and take some more championship points.
“I think I can catch [Chris Hollis] in the championship – that’s the plan. It would be pretty cool if I could – I’ve clawed my way up from seventh midway through after that DNF at Hedley.”
The win is the third consecutive round victory for Phillips, who was sitting fourth in the championship (Outright) and second in class before earning any points from today.
Hollis, who was leading the championship (Outright) into today’s round seven, finished second Outright to Phillips today (championship points from the weekend’s rounds will be collated and loaded to the MA website early next week).
Other Yamaha riders who landed in the top-10 Outright in today’s round were Ben Burrell, who came second in the E1 Class and sixth Outright, and Daniel Milner, who was third in E2 and seventh Outright.
In the Women’s Championship Class, Brisbane rider Jemma Wilson who took her third consecutive win ahead of Sweden’s Emelie Karlsson and reigning champion, Jessica Gardiner (from NSW).
Nah Mate I think Matt Phillips is from Tassie. Yeah the YZ475 was a Ballard bike and he rode the wheels off it!!. I saw Hollis get a rude shock in the bottom of that gully, any lesser rider would have had big problems. He made it through the section were Kram and Moose are pictured pushing someone out. If you tried to hit it at speed it would try and throw you over the hangers, then you had to try and keep your momentum in order to get up that steep pinch on the other side.
Yeah the XR was getting cheered on by the spectators. ” Go the big girl” was what they were yelling out.
There were a few young buggers in the bush watching the race and as you went past they would let ripp with an air horn that would frighten the shit out of you.Hatto wrote:All I can say TB is, thats family fun – Deal with it…Ha Ha Hahatto
GOLD HATTO!! LOL!
I have found the other camera, apparently Connor only got a few shots off before the battery went flat
What’s going on here Rebore??
Looks like you are going nowhere fast!
Lucky there were a few sweep riders about. Other wise you might still be there.
This little MAN MADE gully caught a lot of people out. Even some of the pro riders got a surprise.
Great report TB…LOL
And you’d do it all again tomorrow.
We have all been through it and in the long run it is worth every minute. Time with the kids should be savoured, as they grow so fast and before you know it they aren’t little kids any more and like Boulder said, they’ll be using you for traction  .
After Saturday’s racing we went onto the track and changed the bunting around ready for Sunday’s racing, it was great to see how many people jumped in and gave a hand as it took no time at all and we had changed the track in no time.
Saturday night we hit Moose’s place for a shed party and a verandah BBQ. What a great night! Talk about laugh, the company was great, Gittoes was in fine form and he had us all in stitches. I was buggered and snuck off about 9.30 as I didn’t want to be as “dusty” Sunday as I was Saturday morning.
They boys mustn’t have played up too bad Saturday night as they were all back at the track bright eyed on Sunday morning and ready to roll by 7.30. Moose and I headed out into the bush to make one final change to some bunting prior to the first sighting lap and once we got back to the control the boys were there doing their bit keeping everything under control.
I rode my XR650 most of the weekend and due to a few bike failures, Connor’s new YZ became the renta thrasher and Toes and Kram took turns giving it a hard time. At one stage I was at the water hazard refilling it with a high pressure hose when Kram came along on the YZ and he decked it right in front of me. If you were standing there with a high pressure hose and one of your mates crashes one of your bikes right in front of you, what would you do???
Yep, me too, I gave it to him!!As it turned out nearly every one that swept the senior’s loop got nailed with that hose at some stage.
Here are a few photos I took on Sunday.
I wonder who this is in a Polka dotted Troy Lee Jersey?? Nahhh it couldn’t be, not on a Kato.
Entering the Water trap
It caught a few blokes out
Toes on the YZ renta thrasher
Some of the elite sweep riders, Kevdog , Rebore450 and Ollie
Hopefully I will have more pics when the other camera turns up.
