All going well the AORC will be on Sept 10 & 11……….Protty said, if we are keen to do the sweeping there, it would be great. Those who swept this weekend, by rights will have the first option to do it all again at the AORC. Those guys have earnt their stripes and deserve first dibs.
I will keep you posted, should it be on.

Yeah Protty, what Lefty said is my sentiments exactly! I know what you went through. The adversity that you over came and the other silly things that went wrong for you leading up to the event, would send a normal bloke around the twist. Your resilience is a credit to you.
Thanks for offering OBT the opportunity to do the Sweeping of what turned out to be an awesome event. As you can see by the reports, the boys had a great time.
If there is a next time, we would love to help you out again.

    Cheers
    Mick

So in the end did the event go ahead? i just read through the whole thread and it sounds like a ball. Would be awsome to be part of that. So how good of a rider do you need to be a sweep rider? i need something to aspire too lol

Yeah the event went ahead and was great…….You dont have to be a gun rider………hey, I was there, so that says something..

Knowing the exact spot that pic was taken, it is a weird place to pull a wheelie,…..unless there was someone there with a camera. Bloody poser…

After the racing was finished on Saturday arvo, Moose and I had to go to the top of the mountain to retrieve a Land Cruiser Wagon for the owner of Mt Seaview. Moose doubled me up there on a quad and it was the longest and roughest 10km of my life!!

When we finally arrived back, the boys were already into the refreshments and we wasted no time joining them!!
    DSC02339.jpg

As the evening rolled on, so did the traditional OBT party, so much so, it appeared to be the place to be and other people came over and joined in the party. We had a fantastic night laughing our heads off!

    DSC02342.jpg

Toes and Spud got into the spirit of things and kept us laughing all night.

    DSC02340.jpg

It was a bloody good fire!

In no time it was midnight and I looked around and it was only Spud, Kram, Moose and myself left holding the fort!! I snuck off to bed at this stage.

5am saw me out of bed with a throbbing head ache, ratting around in my car looking for anything with paracetamol in it. Spud came to the rescue and in no time I was good to go.

7am saw us at the command post ready to ride again. (amazing story but true)

Ralph, the owner of Seaview was at me all weekend, wanting the Old Bulls to have a weekend up there in October. So keep an eye out as we will most likely hold a poker run up there in October.
We love Mount Seaview and have laid claim to the bunk house!!

    DSC02379.jpg

My only regret about the whole weekend is that it had to finish!!!

    Fanbloodytastic weekend!!!!

On a side note, I did see a sad thing on the way home. Some poor buggers had a 4 bike enclosed trailer come off the tow bar and leave the road and barrel of into a creek. It had entered the creek at a fairly high speed from what I could see as the A frame on the trailer was completely embedded in the creek bank on the other side.
Not a good way to end a great weekend for those guys.

The Old Bull spirit was alive and well on the weekend. Our guys were there ready to offer a hand to anyone having trouble as Kram demonstrates here.

Saturday dawned clear with one of the best rainbows I have ever seen and that set the scene for the whole weekend. The blonde was up early too, threatening to cut the throat of that little bastard that snored all night.

A” bit dusty” Moose kits up for a big day ahead.

The group was split in two, with a couple of us pre running the junior course whist the rest helped Protty do some last minute adjustments to the senior course.

Me getting ready to lead the juniors out on their parade lap.
    DSC02252.jpg

When we say “the junior course” don’t get the idea that it was an easy course by any means, this was a “State level course” in any mans book. It was 8kms of big rocky hills, tight single (read very tight), greasy off camber corners and some very challenging snotty gullies. This alone made me glad I was riding the YZ and not the XR.

Come race time, I lead the 65cc group out on their sighting lap, some of these kids can really ride, bearing in mind that the course was challenging enough on a full sized bike, I could only imaging how big some of the obsticles were to these kids with 12” wheels.

On one of the big up hills I thought it best if I put a gap on the lead kid so as not to roost him on the way up. I was fairly hooting along when all of a sudden a rock took out my front wheel and I hit the deck for the first of my come offs for the weekend.

No harm done and I managed to get the 65’s back in time to start their race proper.

Gassit did a great job sweeping the senior loop most of the day

    The report Part 1

First of all, a huge thanks to the OBT crew that made the effort to spend the weekend at Mt Seaview, sweeping the State offroad titles, as it turned out, it was a fantastic advertisement and PR exercise for OldBull Trailriders. The whole team should be proud of themselves for the way they conducted themselves and got in and did a fantastic job, considering at first we were playing it by ear.

I wont dwell on all the legal bullshit from the greenies that nearly saw the event cancelled at literally the 11th hour. That is another report on its own.

Anyhow several of us travelled in convoy from Wauchope to Seaview and when we arrived at 3.30 it was already a hive of activity. We claimed a spot for the Oldbulls and started unpacking, which also saw Moose and Kram crack a beer each.
No sooner had they cracked a beer, Protty (the organizer) lobs in our camp and says ”Come on, a couple of you guys kit up and come with me”. “We have to pre run the seniors course”.

DPY4 (AKA Spud), Kram and myself kitted up and were ready to roll by 4pm and we headed off with Protty straight up into the bush, to sweep the 11km course.
By the time we started to head back down the mountain, darkness had started to set in and that really kept you on your toes, dodging obsticles that you could only just see at the last minute in the darkness. The trail conditions were fantastic after a week of rain and that set the scene for a fantastic weekend of off-road racing.

When we got back to camp several more Old bulls had arrived and we said our hellos and cracked a beer or two. Friday night was a great night sitting around the fire bench racing, despite a few brief showers.

    DSC02241.jpg

Fossil telling Moose that it is time he should be in bed, Moose is protesting.
    DSC02242-1.jpg

The excitement level was high, especially when the boys realized the tall leggy blonde, with what we decided weren’t her real breasts, was actually sharing the bunk house with us and was sleeping in the same room.

Adam and Rebore, no doubt checking out the blonde.
    DSC02243-2.jpg

The boys behaved relatively well and only played up until midnight, as they knew we had to be kitted up and on the track by 7am, to sweep both the junior and senior tracks and then ride all day and be the last blokes off the track Saturday arvo.

    That’s bullshit.

Do you know what the legal action is Mick?

I would of thought if MNSW had got a DA through council then all would sweet.

    Bloody tree huggers.

Dunno what the action is at this stage. I have the editor of the paper on the job now trying to find out. Protty the organiser was too devestated to talk at length to me as he also had 100’s of calls to make. D

Speaking of which does anyone know Rebore450’s number or anyone else that he rides with that might know it??? He is already on his way and I want to save him the trip to Seaview.

The arseholes left it the last minute to serve the notice too…..deadshits.

Due to legal action served against MNSW. THIS MORNING by the farken hippy arsehole bastard shit heads, MNSW have pulled the pin on the event.

I am sorry guys but that is the way the world is going.

For those that are still keen to use their leave pass this weekend, I have organised accomodation at Breckenridge farmstay in Wauchope and we will ride out of there and do a loop in Bago.

Sorry guys that is the best I could do at this late stage.
