No doubt the greenies will be there, selling carbon credits or some shit.
Thanks Rebore, as soon as I get more details I will post what is going on.

When you have great toys to play with and great places nearby to play with them, the temptation is to much to resist. :woohoo:

Thanks DP4. Looking forward to catching up with you.
Same hill different view.
Like hill climbs?? Give this one a whirl!!
Good one Eags. Looking forward to more reports and pics as they roll in. How many starters did you get??
A bit of a report, sorry no pics, I had a little bit of a come off, which I am blaming for the demise in my trusty old “trail camera”
It has been a few years since we have hit Fossil’s place for a ride, I dunno why, as it has some of the best riding around these parts. Being in the back blocks so to speak, it doesn’t see the bike traffic some of the other local forest see, so all the trails are in great condition. Moose and I arrived early and had the bikes unloaded before Fossil surfaced, we sent Fossil to make some coffees as it was bloody freezing (for north coast standards, the frost was a big one but it had nothing on the one we witnessed at Lithgow at the birthday ride)
It wasn’t long before Corey8 came rattling up the driveway, closely followed by Strucky then RiderX and his nephews Brown and Brown.
WE all kitted up and headed out Fossil’s back gate with Fossil leading the way, straight into some single trail, I was first cornerman for the day and it was here I made a mistake that nearly ended the day for two of us. As everyone passed through the corner I noticed Moose was missing, I waited a minute or two before making the decision to go back and look for him, thinking that there may be a problem with his bike. Not thinking I blasted my way back along the single trail only to round a corner to meet face to face with RiderX coming at full song. He went left and so did I and only just managed to miss a head on by mere millimeters. Thank God it was RiderX coming the other way and not someone less trail savvy, how we missed one another still has me amazed. If we had of hit it would have been my fault entirely.Anyhow with the near miss out of the way, we headed into the scrub and up the first and biggest hill for the day. I roared up it full of confidence only to hit a loose boulder that speared me into a rutt and the XR stopped abruptly and flung me over the hangers and face first into the rocky ground. Not really hurt I quickly jumped to my feet only to hear the familiar laugh of my mate Moose. I turned the XR around and headed back to the bottom for another run at the hill only to find on my 2nd attempt that the hill was blocked further up by another rider that had come to grief on the final rocky step up. So back to the bottom for my third run at the hill, which ended well, with me finally getting to the top.
There were several other rocky hills that we had to either ascend or descend through out the day, all of which were a challenge but great fun. Strucky came to grief on one of the biggest and ugliest down hills I have seen for a while and while I waited for him at the bottom I could hear a barrage of expletives filtering down through the bush from up the hill. Not often you hear Strucky go off..LOL.
The beauty of riding with a local is that your time in the bush is not wasted looking for trails and Fossil did a great job linking up some great trails that had a bit of everything that tested all the riders on the ride. Some of the sweetest freshly cut singles I have ridden ever greeted us about halfway through the ride and continued right through to the end. What a great days riding that we finished off with a sausage sizzle a few beers and a ton of laughs. Thanks guys for a great day.
Kram would have loved it, pity he couldn’t make it and stayed home racking up brownie points for another day.

Cheers,
LeftyGreat!! You will be a great addition to the team.
Yep had a come off today. First one in ages actually.
It was an uphill, high side, over the hangers, face plant. You will have to ask Moose how it scored for laughter value..
Puddles wrote:isn’t Hollis from Lake Cathie ?Is all that you could gleen out of the article Puddles? He is originally from Wauchope (Beechwood actually).
They have him listed as being from Port Macquarie but we cant have that can we?Press release I got this morning from Yamaha Australia.
Yamaha riders lead four of six of the classes of competition after Day 1 of the Yamaha Yamalube Cycra GYTR Australian 4-Day Enduro (A4DE).
The event is being held at Koumala and Gum Valley, just south of Mackay (QLD), until Sunday.
Stefan Merriman (YZ450F) is ahead in Championship E1, Matthew Phillips (YZ475F) in E3, Jemma Wilson (YZ250F) in Women’s Championship and Matt Dumigan (YZ450F) in Veteran’s.
Chris Hollis (Wauchope, NSW) only just lost the lead of Championship E2 (and Outright) after a crash in the final special test of the day.
Despite the crash, Hollis, from Wauchope (NSW), still came second in the class – just 1.7-seconds behind Toby Price.
Hollis said his crash was due to a front end wash out.
“I lost the front there for a little bit and kissed the ground,” Hollis said. “Picked it up and kept going, but I lost a lot of time.
“But there were only four tests today and me and Toby are really close… tomorrow we’ve got six tests and I’ll try and make it back up then.
“We’ve got one new test tomorrow that we do twice, which is a good grass track.
“So things are looking good. I’m riding good and my bike’s working good, I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”
Leading his class is young Tasmanian Matt Phillips, who sits 1.6-seconds ahead in Championship E3, even despite a crash in the last special test.
“I’m fairly happy with how I went,” Phillips said. “I was running third Outright until the last test and I had a big crash and knocked myself out.
“But I’m stoked to be leading the class so far and hopefully I can hold that lead and get back up there in the outrights by pushing hard and staying on the bike.”
Phillips’s teammate, Stefan Merriman, is also ahead in his class (Championship E1) after taking the win in three out of four special tests.
“I was a little bit nervous to start with, took me a bit to get into it… in the first test I was a bit slow,” Merriman said.
“And then I got quicker and quicker and had a good day. It was really good out there.
“The ground’s quite dry and slippery… when you’re racing it’s always a challenge to stay on. But the trails look good, it’s going to be a good four day.”
In the Championship Women’s, YZ250F pilot Jemma Wilson (from Brisbane) leads the class ahead of New Zealander, Natasha Cairns. Reigning champ, Jessica Gardiner (Yamaha) sits third.
And it’s another Queenslander, Matt Dumigan (of the Gum Valley Motorcycle Club), who leads a star-studded field in Veteran’s on his YZ450F.
July 7, 2011 at 11:24 am in reply to: Sweep Riders needed. State Sprints, Mt Seaview. JULY 23-24 #204546Good onya Fossil. The delay in info stems from the fact that the event only got the official go ahead by council on Wednesday.
The terms and conditions that have been imposed on the event are beyond ludicrous. Now the greenies are up in arms and have even formed an “action Group” opposing the event that is being held on 7000 acres of PRIVATE PROPERTY.Read this crap from todays Port News
riverright wrote:So for example lets say 7500 is where it stops pulling.
Is it OK to sit on 7400 for a LONG transport section? As a scenario that is a good one.
The more you ride the bike the easier it will be to find its sweet spot.
July 7, 2011 at 12:36 am in reply to: Sweep Riders needed. State Sprints, Mt Seaview. JULY 23-24 #204530Due to unreasonable demands put on this event by our “GREEN” council (dont get me started) ,this event was on very shaky grounds. So I do apologise for the late supply of info.
riverright wrote:This is the first 4 stroke I’ve owned, so I dont always understand what the bike is telling me.
All the gearing I’m doing is higher (more tractor like) than stock.
Perhaps I’m not over endowed with common sense.
?Sorry Riverright, I wasn’t trying to be funny. You are gunna loose some top speed going for the tractor effect, although XR’s love being a tractor. The bike will tell you that it is revving too hard. If you get to 7500 rpm and it stops pulling, that is the maximum revs it should be doing.
