Good to see you have joined. Thanks for the intro. Keep an eye on the site and I guarantee you’ll get on some great rides and meet some great people.
You know where I work so don’t be a stranger and get ready for some great riding. You may not realise it yet, but you have moved to a dirt bike Mecca..
Cheers

Safari is working fine with the site on my Mac, although at first it was a bit sketchy but is good now.
Now I have used the new template for a day or two it has grown on me and I am happy with the look and result.
February 8, 2011 at 10:43 am in reply to: Mick’s Annual Birthday Ride 4th & 5th of March 2011 #196166All going well Friday will see us only do about 10km’s of tar road, if that. There are a couple of short sections of tar and a main forest road or two that are unavoidable in order for the loop to work.
Once you have the “action” back in your wrist you could probably let the missus go. 👿

Mechanics rates
$85 per hour
$95 per hour if you hang around and watch
$200 per hour if you’ve already had a go yourself and stuffed it up.Gday Siral,
Welcome to the site, thanks for the intro. RD250LC ??? Awesome, I would love to get my hands on one of those again as a project bike, Bought one new, from Brian Collins in Blacktown in 1982, it was a J model. Near killed me, but I loved it. We had started setting it up for 250 proddy racing and it had plenty of go fast mods. Never ended up racing it though as funds at that time were minimal.Cheers
MickI dont mind the time being there, maybe you could adjust it to day light savings time, it appears to be an hour slow at the moment Chris.
The long anticipated morning of the Nabiac ride dawned clear but warm, little did we know how warm the day would become. At 8am I was kitted ,loaded up and on the road headed for our meeting point at Timbertown. When I got there, all but Kram was there ready to roll. Kram turned up a minute later and we headed off on what was to be a great (but hot) day on the bikes.
We had an unusual mixture of bikes too.
2 x NX650’s
XR600
Vstrom
WR450
KTM525
Husky 310
TT600At Timbertown
We hit the bush straight away and made our way up and over Bago headed for Comboyne.
All the pre-running in the world can’t foresee trees coming down and blocking trails. Here was the first “little test for Toes on the Vstrom. Nothing compared to what awaited him.hahahhahahhaha
I had told Toes that the trails we were taking could easily been done on a Harley. (I lied)
First stop so everyone could check their gear and have a smoke.
We Cruised a mixture of main trails, disused firetrails and a few single trails just to make it interesting for Toes on the Vstrom until we got to Comboyne Rock,
we had a quick look at the view and headed off along the rim of the Comboyne plateau taking in some great views along the way.
In order to avoid as much tar road as we could, we went through a “trail” on a friend’s property and had another stop, just to take in the views to be had out over Landsdowne.
Aero showed us he could wheelie the TT.
See the log in the foreground???
At that stage Aero hadn’t. Lucky he pulled it up just in time.
Bloody Nice TT you have Aero. Wouldn’t mind a ride one day.
From there we headed to Elands store for our first top up of fuel. I had rung in advance to see if fuel was going to be available.(good idea, don’t reley on them having fuel)
This is where we met up with Kevdog on his (new to him) DRZ400, he had waited patiently for us, as by this stage we were about a hour later than I anticipated. Sorry about that Kev.
We topped up with fuel and a drink while the boys chatted up the local talent.I had intended to go to Ellenborough falls for a look but time constraints meant we had to bypass the Falls and Blue Knob look out if we were to get to Krambach to meet the rest of the guys at the pub by 1.30.
I wheeled the old NX down Knodingbull road like a man possessed trying my hardest to leave Toes in my dust and was making great time, when once again true to my latest form I was stung on the arm by a wasp of some sort and could feel my arm swelling as I went. I eventually got the stinger out of my arm when we got to the pub. By then my arm was starting to look like Popeye’s.
I pulled up at the Sonny’s camp trail intersection and we had a spell there, before I asked the group if they would be keen to give the trail a go. Looking up it, the trail was covered in leaf mulch and looked very inviting. I explained to the guys that I had seen it on Google earth but didn’t know what the trail had in store for us or how steep it got. A unanimous vote saw us take Sonny’s trail, by this time the temperature was in the high 30’s,probably in hindsight we should have stayed on the main trail.
As we descended in the Valley the trail got steeper and steeper and the rutts started to get rather large (all the while I was assessing whether we could get back up if it went to shit)
I dropped down a particularly steep rocky section and thought to my self that was our last chance to get out the way we had come, so I pulled up and stopped the Group and tried to ride back up to them but the NX wanted no part of it and sat and pig rooted and carried on. I dropped her 3 times in the process of going backwards down the hill looking for somewhere to turn around again.
I sent Aero on ahead to see what was further ahead as the TT600 can handle everything. He returned with the good news that at the bottom it was plain sailing with awesome leafy trails. I asked the group whether they were prepared to go on and they said yeahhh! It was interesting to say the least as you had to let your bike roll and try and wash your speed off at the bottom.
Kevdog went down it easy
Toes got the Strom down with no dramas, not like the guy in the background of the pic.
Further into the Valley of death
This was a pretty serious down hill for any bike, by the time we got to the bottom we were over heating and exhausted. I sucked my camel back dry as the heat was stifeling and we found a creek that offered welcome relief from the heat.
At the bottom we were rewarded with some great leafy trails that made their way up the other side of the valley. The climb out of the Valley was fantastic and well worth the effort of the previous down hill.
We regathered at the top and then headed down the main forest trail, spaced out considerably because of the dust. We were still in the middle of nowhere when I rounded a corner and I couldn’t believe my eyes. There walking down the road was a 18 year old hottie!!! Complete with tiny little shorts and a tiny little tank top!! She was obviously suffering from the heat, so I pulled up and she readily got on the back of the NX. She had been out in the bush in her car and had broken down and was walking back looking for help. I continued along slowly with the dear little thing on the back ,when the first of the boys caught up to me,I would love to know what went through their head when they first realised I had a young bird on the back!!!
Anyhow I doubled her for a about 10kms to her friends place and bade her farewell, after that the boys were riding up beside me wanting to Hi five!!
We hit Titri road and cruised along until we got to Richard’s place. Richard gave me a tube a few weeks ago on the pre run when I managed to get several flat tyres. I replaced the tube he gave me and headed off to Krambach pub to meet the rest of the Old Bulls for the final leg into Nabiac
More later…………….
Just spoke to TB on the phone and he said you can get through the Bridal Trail.

Thinking about going up there next weekend and going home via the track and into Bathurstthanks
SeanThe person to ask would probably be TB but he will be off line all weekend so maybe someone else like Mal5.1 could answer it.
