Bit of latin? 3 words?
“et tu Brute?”
Pretty well was Caesar’s last words.
Gday, welcome mate, don’t mind the natives, they know not what they do.
Thanks for the intro, good to see that OBT is gradually crawling northward.
Cheers
MickMight help if we had a pic of said art work
to get the creative juices flowing.June 2, 2013 at 2:18 am in reply to: Old Bull Trailriders is celebrating its 5th Birthday 5th, 6th and 7th of July #242878I was up at Seaview yesterday with Protty, rider X and a few young blokes on MXers sorting put the Poker run loop. We have decided on a loop that has something for everyone. A lot of it will be a grass track up and over the undulating paddocks on the side of a hill, then there is an option to do the hill climb section that would be a grade 3 with a grade 4 descent that will link up with the main loop again. The grass track should be easily ridden by all attendees even on an ADV bike, how ever the hill is more of a challenge to cater for the experienced riders.
Also in saying that, I am lucky enough to have at my disposal a stable of bikes that cover a lot of different disciplines of the sport.
I enjoy riding them all, although the full on tar riding tends to bore me somewhat, even though I have the Oxley Highway on my door step and the use of a Buell or a Harley to run up there on.
The extended tar sections on an Adventure ride are different though, as 90% of the time you are covering new territory with new sights. Which I feel is the main reason one embarks on an Adventure ride in the first place.
As I head towards the big 50, the body is taking longer to get over a decent single ride, so I can appreciate the eventual gravitation towards ADV riding as we get older. Even today after riding some pretty steep country at Seaview yesterday on my son’s YZ250F and my XR650 with a group of blokes under 20, my quads are letting me know they are not happy!
I have done a reasonable bit of riding over the years, both on singles and ADV riding (Read Scrapheap and a few other shorter runs) and the most scary and adrenaline inducing moment I have ever had on a bike in my life was on the run between Bourke and Camaroo on this year’s Scrapheap ride. The concentration required exceeded any thing I have ever done in my life, I think. Whilst riding into the setting sun following in Leftie’s dust just waiting to be taken out by either a wayward specimen of fauna or an unseen rutt at speed, all but did my head in.
Yeah yeah, feel free to flame me if you feel so inclined. :pinch:
I am pretty sure it just another way people can take the piss and there is no real malice involved!
Any questions or advice, just ask mate. Is it a small wheel or a biggie?
Gday Duey,
Thanks for the intro, sounds like you’ll fit right in here in the mad house.Looking forward to catching you at Seaview.
Cheers
MickTB is right, we have had an 06 KX85 since it was new and it is an awesome bike, it has done a heap of hours both racing and trail riding. My young bloke flogged the wheels off it and it blew up a few times but that has to be expected when a 2 banger has done that many hours all the trouble started when the power valve wore out and hit the piston.
Because they have a power valve they are a lot easier to ride than the YZ85 as they produce a bit more bottom end power which makes them a good little bike for trail riding too.
We also had an 04 that Moose bought off me and he still has it, all 3 of his kids have raced it and it has been flogged even harder than the one we still have and it is still powering.
Couldn’t fault it in the scheme of things, if the price is right buy it.
Top stuff Scotty! That’ll take some beating! I can’t believe how good those trails looked!
Thanks for the intro Mr Squiggle and welcome to OBT. A nice quiver of bikes there mate! You pretty well have all the bases covered with that collection. The missus seems pretty handy with the airbrush too!
Cheers

In the ute? Ride the bloody thing down!
Great report Mark, thanks for organising the boys to come here for a ride. It was great to finally meet you guys and show you around our backyard.
Looks like a great weekend! My inlaws have 640 acres that we used to utilise most weekends but that seems to have waned a little as of late with kids sports and girl friends. As Mallee said, make the most of it while they are young!
